All platforms will not leave because of few aggrieved riders. If uber leaves, indriver dey, bolt dey. Do you even know there are some drivers that only use one of the platforms? As for riders, you don't do drivers favour by patronizing the platforms, if hello cab is an option, why don't you take it instead of uber/bolt? They offer you ride, you pay them. May be drivers should say they also do you favour by taking you to your destinations. This is business, and no one should have false sense of entitlement. Drivers offers service to riders, riders pay; no one does anyone favour here. Besides, weren't the drivers surviving before uber/bolt just like you were surviving with yellow cabs? Everyone will be okay with or without uber. Let's stop using "if uber leaves........" to scare drivers. Heavens will not fall. thelastorca: how will i suffer?
for me uber is a convenience before it was around, i was using yellow taxi
for you it is a livelihood, not so? what will you go to if they and other ehailing platforms leave? will you fill form and go and dobale to some old men at the nearest taxi park |

He is a boss, and that's why he has the liberty to do that which he can't naturally be able to do if he isn't a boss. BTW, drivers can still cancel and get paid for it by just waiting a lil above 5 mins. Asking you to cancel is to safe your cash and time. If you as a rider think you're a superior boss, cancel from your end and go sack the driver from the platform as a boss. NO STORY thebigkendo: Drivers are their own boss but will never cancel/reject trip but tell rider to do...

That doesn't stop having multiple sims now. You can still have multiple registered sims. I have two registered active mtn numbers. I can use each of them to open two different accounts. thelastorca: if I am not mistaken, the FG has given phone companies a deadline to get rid of sims not tied verified users. abuse of sims goes way beyond matters like bbnaija
unfortunately, Uber is probably doing it naija style - waiting for someone to get killed on their platform before they roll out policies that ensure all riders are properly identified. |

But they didn't implement this. So riders can still change accounts cheaply as they like. thelastorca: you think people change phone numbers just like that? i will change my phone no because of uber? and what do you think all the sim card registration is about? tying your identity to a phone line. it is really not that hard. al uber has to do is collaborate with the phone companies and inisist that only registered sims are used on their platforms
to take it further, when i made my report, i had to do a full registration. email etal. al uber has to do is make some benefits available to fully registered users.
this is the message they emailed me start of this week
it is not that hard |

People that buy hundreds of sims just to vote on BBNAIJA? They don't necessarily need to use their hotline to register on the platform. They can afford to change sim and accounts as they wish. thelastorca: you think people change phone numbers just like that? i will change my phone no because of uber? and what do you think all the sim card registration is about? tying your identity to a phone line. it is really not that hard. al uber has to do is collaborate with the phone companies and inisist that only registered sims are used on their platforms

dru23: Uber is an international brand ... whoever decides to take over can they be efficient as uber in terms of technology? Uber is also a Multi billion dollar company.. Millions are spend on the technology.. Technology is constantly changing and improving.. You need money to keep up I know, just as bolt came around, there are investors lurking around to break in as soon as uber leaves. The fact is that uber will not leave because they are here to make money and not doing anyone favour. They will always protect drivers/Riders interest. |

Bro, it is just an illusion to make drivers dance to rider's tune. The platform isn't doing any driver favour, it is a partnership with mutual benefits. The fact is that ehaling has come to stay in Nigeria, if riders leave bolt or uber, they definitely go to other platforms, drivers will migrate likewise. Only uber or bolt has much to lose, drivers will have other options. thelastorca: the problem with nigerians is they never know what they have till its gone. let uber leave, and be replaced with a nigerian proper company. then you will all know the true meaning of ween.
you can always leave uber and go back to the basics. taxicab. |

you are talking about surge. are you sure you even understand your platform? or is a surge not a period when there is high demand within a vicinity? eg if there is an NNPC test in unilag, there will be a sure there t the end and at the beginning

The purpose isn't defeated, stop elaborating the trip rejection like murder case, you can still make another request. There are many drivers willing to accept that rejected trip. A lagos-badagry trip which many see as a bad trip, another driver will take it, probably because the same road leads to his house. Yes, and uber or bolt thinks you can only be banned when you select over a certain range,, not because you reject trips. So the platforms still allow rejection but drivers just need to be cautious about it so he doesnt go beyond the limit the platform allows. it is not supposed to be rider's worry Frankdamaxx: The reason for the penalties on driver cancellation is to stop selective tripping. If everyone chooses to drive in VI and good road areas it's fine. But it defeats the purpose of moving people. |

That is it. When a driver rejects, order new one. No need creating a fuss about it I don't see why riders make it a big deal. The driver that cancels trips is just enjoying his leverage till he gets banned. thelastorca: Who is this everybody? i still get a ride to that side everytime. or you think the whole driverbase on uber is limited to this thread? |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by peeps4u: 9:19am On Oct 31, 2019 |
Really? Why dont you start adopting same measures for drivers? I believe when uber bans over 70% of drivers for cancellation because of you, drivers will humble and even accept lagos-badagry road everyone avoids. thelastorca: Heh. I have a call recorder. And I have used it in the past in other issues with poor customer service.Once someone with even more aggro and misplaced arrogance than the drivers here. Talking as if I was some sort of scammer. Record call, send to CEO, copy others.
Na so the same arrogant bagger called me back apologizing profusely.

Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by peeps4u: 9:17am On Oct 31, 2019 |
We've addressed this, guess you're late coming here. Let uber determine that. You can't determine when a driver leaves a platform because he rejects your trips, the platform decides. And the question, does uber or bolt see it the way you do, No, they know drivers have their rights and lifelines with which they can reject trips over a certain range. Frankdamaxx: Based on all you have said, you had a choice and left the ride hailing business. Nobody forces you to join. All businesses in Nigeria have their peculiar challenges but people still do them.
If at the end of the day, Uber partners are making total losses, nobody will tell the partners to quit.
And what do you mean by all that comfort? Uber standard is a clean car, AC and good shocks for a good ride. That is comfort enough. If you can't provide that then you have no business being on Uber. No one is expecting massage seats... |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by peeps4u: 9:13am On Oct 31, 2019 |
Cancel the same trip the driver finds unfavourable and report, then order new ride. Sincerely, I support you on that like I supported you on that driver the other day. But the fact is that, uber/bolt needs drivers and will not ban drivers arbitrarily because riders keep reporting for cancelled trips. Drivers are only using their leverage to cancel unfavourable trips, don't blame them thelastorca: Maybe if I speak in odometer. What will make me cancel a ride? An unexpected situation coming up. An observed violation by the driver before we start. What makes a driver cancel? A destination he considers unfavorable. You do not want to go on the journey, cancel and take the cumulative strike. Stop trying to think you are smart
Now how do I translate the above into the language of I have driven 100km? |

It is very simple, report if you think you have a case and order new ride. No driver will beg you not to report to UBER because he cancels your trips. Let UBER be the judge. It might be funny to you that UBER will just overlook so many vague reports because that lack substances. thelastorca: Which is where reporting for violation of ubers policies comes in. Of course then the arrogant boss and partner will suddenly remember you are a wicked person, he has a child, he has a family, you are not considerate, you have no human feelings.

You can as well cancel, riders also need to pay for being bad riders or a rider with bad roads from bad activity score owing to accumulated cancellations. If drivers reject your bad destinations, the best you can do for yourself is to be a gentle man and some drivers will reconsider not bullying them with "you're working for the platform" they will just leave you there and ask you to cancel. thelastorca: Except that you people with ‘leverage’ know that your claim is bs which is why you always try to push the cancellation to the rider. If you were so critical in the scheme of things, you would cancel by yourselves and damn the consequences.
Instead you constantly do your utmost to get the rider to cancel |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by peeps4u: 8:56am On Oct 31, 2019 |
I don't take beer again, I should have ordered you a cold one for the bolded. Chuwaa: And you think the driver whose cars are not owned by Uber likes to endanger their investment by going to God forsaken places some riders crawl from or going to places where they will blow back empty.... Because he has too much money to waste?
Just as Uber will hardly ban riders, they dont ban drivers except for fraud like the guy that ripped off the grandma. So you guys should continue coming here to vent wrongly.
We can go on and on but Uber cares not. Even when banned for low activity score, all you have to do is to go and explain yourself, latest 48hrs you are back. I Uninstalled my Bolt driver app and they have been firing me emails on why I did so, I stopped driving since July last year and Uber is still inviting me to sign up.
So if we like, let's continue arguing. Like someone posited before, just like Uber gives surge to attract drivers during rains and flood, they ought to have pimped their model to charge higher for bad areas if they actually listen to feedbacks, but they don't and that's why riders can rant all the time. I read how Uber charges higher fares for certain areas of California. Why can't they charge higher for dead zone in Nigeria.
If drivers are 'misbehaving', then know something is wrong with the platform. I've heard people say Uber drivers are better than taxify bla bla bla, not knowing that over 90% drive on both platforms. The difference is Uber's more attentive and quick redress of drivers complaints than Bolt. So an Uber driver will allow you go with your fare but will fight you if you try such on Bolt.
Finally Uber promised you comfort and quick service etc, ask them why they lowered their model year to 2000 from 2008, ask them why they've not yanked off some dead cars from the platform, ask them why they cut their rates by over 40% since 2017.
You pay peanuts and you'll get peanuts. If you want all that comfort at your beck and call, buy a car, employ a driver or rent one.... at a premium. Uber and Taxify is no longer premium service! |

And we've said it severally, let the platform kick off the erring drivers. It is not rider's call. A driver rejects a trip, he may have down wrong in your views, but UBER/bolt still feels he is within permitted range of cancellation. That's why it is called partnership; drivers have leverage and lifeline, which they use by cancelling unfavourable trips, and you can't deny them that thelastorca: Sounds like a classic case of self entitlement. I will take this platform which provides me with a steady and reliable stream of riders, but I will use kabu kabu mentality.
"I am my own boss."
Who is the alpha in this partnership? Who is the one laying out the conditions? Who is the one kicking people off the platform?
You are your own boss, start your taxi company. Some of the people here 'who are not uber' have their own fledgling companies and are hear to gain insights.
Eateries, major petrol stations, supermarkets, are all partnerships between a big company and a dealer. The company provides support and infrastructure, the dealer sells the companies goods and acts within their policies.
The dealer is also his own 'boss'. But in most cases the corporation calls the shots |

This woman has given a very valid measure. There are bad drivers and bad riders. When drivers take to this measure, riders will know there are consequences for bad behaviours and drives have leverage to an extent to reject their trips. They will be more responsible radautoworks: I never expect Uber drivers to help me with bags because I know they are not chauffers. They are private individuals giving people rides for a fee. Overseas they don't help you with bags and we don't expect them to. Some nice ones do but it's not part of the job description. Rider's protect their ratings there because no one will come carry you. I suggest you guys start doing the same if you're not already doing so. Rating can be seen BEFORE accepting the trip |

Yes, but drivers do cancel from their app. And the anger is that drivers cancel trips. At the bolded, the fact drivers cancel trips doesnt mean they don't provide services, they only reject that particular service. And it is allowed. They only get bounced when it is too much. Frankdamaxx: The way you emphasize BOSS amazes me. All Bosses provide service.
I personally have no issues with a driver who cancels, but cancel on your driver's app. If you depend on the riders to cancel so you can continue your business, then ....... |

You did it for peace, which was good. All depends on mood, at times on a certain day, you may not do that. Another driver may decide not to do that, that doesnt make the driver wrong also, but some riders will think it is wrong because some drivers do it. BAZ001: I want to assume most drivers don't look at the riders ratings again. Once I see u have a low rating and you are a lady, I will just prepare my mind, if your tune on d phone is somehow I will either cancel without telling u or go their and ignore any insult. I've dropped a unilag girl before with plenty loads in d booth and she said oga pls help me bring my bags to d house and she went inside. I sat in d car for minutes not knowing what to do? Frankdamaxx: So you feel the riders just book Uber because they are bored and like moving aimlessly around Lagos? A riders time and money is valuable. So I take offense when you say we don't have anything to lose.
As for the yellow taxi, you cant vex for them because you don't have any expectations of them coming to pick you rather you flag down or go to their locations. Uber promised us to expect the driver. And you're spoilt with choices bro. When one driver cancels, make another request. Simple. A driver can't neglect the lifeline he has in the partnership, which is to cancel trios over a certain range, because he wants to please a rider. |
