Here are some pictures of houses for rent in Nigeria. Why are Public house not laid out in an Asymmetrical way? Location: Anambra I find it hard to figure out why we dont build housses in such a way it will be orderly and beautiful to the eyes.

Why is it that in Nigeria we don't build house for rent in this way like we see in Europe?
|
The apartments are usually painted with white colour or sometimes any bright color. Most of them dont have corridors like the way we build in Nigeria. You will see the streets how they are well designed in a neat way, the streets may be paved with tar or interlocks and it will look so neatly done; the kerbs, lawns in a straight line.
|
Frankly one of the things i enjoy when i watch foreign movies (Hollywood) are the beautiful sights of well laid out apartments. The apartments are usually several storeys high and they often stretch from a long distance
|
Developers, Engineers and Town Planners please this thread need your inputs and answers. So i have been having this thoughts in my mind as to why we build rental houses the way we do in Nigeria. You will see 1 plot of land housing 2 storey building with 6 flats filled with tenants and painted with yellow color and behind that house is another 1 plot of land with fence, housing a 3 storey building painted in grey color and facing a different angle. The same unorganized pattern repeats on and on.

Why are living Apartments in other countries very different from the way we build our apartment in Nigeria? Let's Discuss...
|
OkanlawonB:Well, to some extent you are correct but i take strong exception to your submission Nigeria cannot build or develop structures like this because of cultural difference. I dont think there is any culture that forbids development and serenity. If you say because of our economy and level of development we cannot be there yet, i will agree with you. But the question still remains, why can we NOT build these structures yet? Is it a policy problem or just engineering incompetence? |
@Mod Justwise Pls can you kindly move to FP so that we may get expert contributions and views on this. Thank you. |
justwise:You are right. People are fond of building structures in a place where it shouldn't be. Another thing is think that contributes is the land tenure system we practice here. Whereby land is solely in the hand of individuals, therefore people buy and sell as they wish and erect structures as they wish. Maybe if the government is the sole authority over land, both in selling and development of the land, just maybe the situation wouldn't have been so. |
princeade86:Yes. I think that is also another thing that contributes to the problem. If you check well, you will see that some cities in Nigeria have a well laid out master plan especially by the colonialists but due to the corruption happening daily in the various city development agencies, you see them looking the other way while individuals are building structures that are contrary to the master plan. |
Are there special materials like paints and special Sand and cements required before we can begin to design and build our rental houses like in Europe? This thread is for educational purposes. Please move to front page for wider views and contribution. Justwise DisGuy Mynd44

Public Housing in Nigeria. Location: Aba Town planning experts and abroad based people. What are the things that make Apartment buildings in Europe to be built so differently from the way we build houses for tenants in Nigeria? What can our policy makers and government do to level up?
|
Houses for rent in Onitsha. Consider the fact these locations are some of the places you can see well built houses in Nigeria yet they are nowhere to compare to What is obtained in Europe or even some African countries.

HRprof:Adanne, Thank you for keeping our eyes entertained. I hope you enjoyed trip. Biko gote re m ihe ma i-na alata. Inugo? A bottle of wine (or anything ) will be appreciated The protest will be happening tomorrow in some cities and areas. Lagos especially and Abuja. In the EAST there will not be much of a protest(before they will say its Ndigbo that want that are planning to overturn the government). Depending on where you base, stay glued to the news and try to know places to avoid. Security is overstretched because they have focused all attention on the protest venues. So just be careful of your movements. Wishing you a safe trip back home Nwanyi oma. |
Enjoy your trip. I love the pictures i see. The environment is very clean. Vienna is a beautiful city. |

It could be either turn out to be a blessing or a curse. It all depends on how you plan yourself and the money you make from the work. I know how frustrating it can be when you run out of cash barely 2 weeks after collecting your salary but one of the things i notice that consumes a lot is FEEDING. If you are someone that likes to cook and cook all the time. Trust me, your money may not last a few days after payment and that will make you to start borrowing around, getting foodstuff on credit and when you are paid, it goes back again into settling debts mostly. So you have to minimize your spendings, mind the stuffs you cook. Look for alternatives and in some days, you can buy food from mamaput. It's all about strategy. |
These are just another set of criminals looking for money to squander. It is the the same thing in ALL areas, agencies and sectors of the country. |
cutieme:No |
cutieme:République dû Bénin. There might be vacancies if one checks well. But i don't know of anyone now. Though my place of work maybe needing in the future. |
