Thanks
A combination of Neutrogena clear pore cleanser and Black opal pre-fade cleansing bar works wonders. I always recommend it all the time
park007: Good job.

Can u recommend a good exfoliating brand.

FashionBlackheads & How To Get Rid Of Them. by PerfectBlend(op): 10:30am On Apr 23, 2013
Most of you have the notion that blackheads are dirty and caused by accumulated dirt on the skin or poor hygiene, so you think scrubbing your face will solve the problem but it won't. Blackheads are just a product of oxidization in the facial skin which results in the accumulation of oil (mostly containing keratin & modified sebum) in the sebaceous glands. So, don't stress your face or cause damage to your skin by over scrubbing it.

There are ways to get rid of black heads which is basically by exfoliation but using different products.
This helps to clean out the clog in your pores by dissolving and washing them out. The various types of exfoliating agents we have are Glycolic acids, AHA (alpha hydroxyl acids), Salicylic acid, Succinic acids, BHA (beta hydroxyl acids) and they are found in creams, lotions, potion, soaps, toners and oils.

* Pull or pore strips also help ''reduce'' blackheads but they don't control or target the major cause or origin of the problem, so this is a temporary treatment that can be used once in a while.
* Toners also help cleanse pores but the problem with this is the alcohol content which can cause an irritating effect to the skin especially for people with sensitive skin.

Most of us have used products containing these agents and still haven't been able to control our blackheads or stop them from appearing on our faces. Well some of the agents I listed above (Glycolic acid & AHA) are found in exfoliating products but aren't strong enough to clean the pores of the skin so they only work on the surface and are best used by people with normal, aging and sun damaged skin.

To clear or get rid of blackheads completely, you need something that can go under your skin to clear and minimize the clog especially during oxidation, so look out for different products that have mostly Salicylic acids, Succinic acids and BHA in them. These agents have 100% exfoliating effects.

PH Effect
The PH of these agents also play a vital role in its effectiveness. Sometimes we might buy these exfoliating creams or lotions but handling it wrongly (exposure to air) could increase its PH (5 & above is not acceptable) therefore causing a reduction in its potency.

Over cleansing, striping or scrubbing your face when you have blackheads could cause other skin irritations, so I advice that you should be careful in your plight to beautify your skin and not cause more damage to it. Also, be careful when choosing the beauty product you think might suit your skin, so you don't end up using something that will make it worse than it was.

For those of us who like using or would prefer to use pull/pore strips but find it hard to get one, I have a bonus homemade recipe for you wink

How To Make Your Own Pull/Pore Strip
All you need is; 1 Table spoon of liquid Milk, 1 table spoon of unflavored jello & a container (microwavable)

Steps
* Scoop 1 tbs of milk into the container
* Add 1 tbs of jello to the milk and stir.
* Put mixture in the microwave for 10 minutes
* Allow to cool and apply on your nose or any part you want to remove excess oil
* Peel off after 5 minutes once its dry

Very simple and easy to make right? Very affordable and stress free also. The picture bellow shows what the homemade pore strip looks like after you take it off.

Thanks a lot for making out time to read my post, will be awaiting your comments and please don't forget to share with friends. My blog address is: www.perfectmelange..com

FashionHow To Make Your Nose Look Smaller by PerfectBlend(op): 11:42am On Apr 17, 2013
Not everyone is blessed with the perfect feature, either body of facial. That's why most people result to plastic/corrective/cosmetic surgery. The face is the first thing people see when they see you, this makes your facial features very important (at least to some people).

Lots of people go through a lot just to perfect that sagging skin, big n full lips or wide, long & big nose. Well I've got great news for you concerning that nose job you wanted to get. There's an alternative.
Instead of spending so much altering your natural, God given bogus nose wink, you can always create an optical illusion with makeup. This is called contouring and highlighting.

Wondering how makeup is gonna help conceal that nose you don't really like? Just follow my nose reduction makeup tips...

I'm sure you're wondering were the tips are.... visit my blog to read the rest of it wink

You're welcome. I'm sure the reason most stores don't have sand is because not many light skinned ladies use Iman. You should check a store that does wholesale or are distributors.

naanxie: wow,jst checked it..helped a lot! ℓ̊ think am within the range of sand 2-3 and 3-4..but most online stores have clay!! Na wa o! Confusion
FashionRe: Choosing The Right Foundation.... by PerfectBlend(op): 11:28am On Apr 17, 2013
Perfect question. Foundations come in different hues because people have different undertones. This is easily noticed in light skinned people. you'll notice that some light ladies look reddish, while some look creamy light. That's because of their undertones. If you also notice, Mary kay comes in two shades of each foundation colour code (600 & 607) this is because of those with the same skin colour but different undertone.

Ben Nye' foundations frovide a good blend of high pigmentation and natural coloring. Its really smooth and absorbs into the skin. I don't really use it cos its not common here and clients always prefer a product they are used to but you can always buy it for personal use.

obi123: hello Perfect blend , i have noticed some foundations have red hues and yellow hues, like they were not complicated enough .
what is this hue thing, is it the underlying shade or the effect or what really ? i really dont get it

also what say you about Ben Nye foundations

Hi, I'm sorry my reply is just coming. Been missing in action for a while wink
Dark skinned ladies have one of the best skin but maintaining it is always a problem. To have that flawless look, just make sure wash, cleanse, moisturize and treat your face regularly. Also, follow my blog; www.perfectmelange..com I always give tips on makeup and beauty/skin care so you can learn more.

for really dark skinned ladies, i always recommend Mac powder or Iman because they have the darkest shades of brown powders that'll blend well with really dark skin.

Am just me: Abeg I need to look flawless n younger!am very dark skinned with an oily face wot powder n foundatin wld u recommend? Where r u based?

FashionRe: Choosing The Right Foundation.... by PerfectBlend(op): 6:39am On Apr 03, 2013
You can get iman powder in any good cosmetic store, just be sure they don't sell fake products. I can't determine your shade without seeing what you look like but you can find it on their website: http://www.imancosmetics.com/findyourshade
uthor=naanxie] oh!thanks a lot..that helped! Do u know where ℓ̊ can get iman powder?? And what shade would u recommend?
FashionRe: Choosing The Right Foundation.... by PerfectBlend(op): 10:01am On Apr 02, 2013
Hi I'm sure the Mary kay foundation & Iman powder will work for u.

The difference between the Translucent and other brown powders is; The Translucent powder is a low pigmented matte powder that helps to set your foundation without adding colour or shine to your finished look, while the regular brown powder also sets your foundation but adds colour to the face.

naanxie: Ok! U guys shldnt be fighting it out on NL na,u are both good makeup artists in ur respective fields. ℓ̊ have α really oily skin and my mistake has been using black opal foundation and mark kay powder, tnks for pointing this out! Am thinking of gettin mary kay liquid foundation (507,cos am light skinned) and iman powder..hope that will work?? Also, what's d diff btw d brown powder and translucent powder?? Tnks!! Also where can ℓ̊ get them at an afforadable price?

And I'm a makeup artist who knows what she's doing. When I say don't mix blackopal & Iman, its because they are both oil based so it might not give you a completely dry and flawless look especially if you have oily skin. Its better to combine an oil based foundation(blackopal) with mineral powder or translucent powder, or combine a water based foundation(Marykay) with oil based pressed powder(Iman).

Onegai: Or you could talk to a makeup artist who knows what he/she is doing. Anyone can use any blend of makeup, and everyone's skin is different. As a makeup artist who does tv, music videos, mags, runway and adverts, I can assure you that there are several clients I use Black Opal cream foundation on, and others who do well with Mary Kay. It depends on your skin! The reason I don't recommend sponges is that it cakes on makeup, but if you must use it and you want to go for a light coverage, dampen your sponge with water first. This also helps to reduce the amount of foundation you waste, as sponges absorb product.
FashionHow To Care For The Skin Around Your Eyes by PerfectBlend(op): 6:51pm On Feb 14, 2013
The skin is very delicate, especially the areas around your eyes. Not only harsh weathers but several other factors can affect this delicate area causing blood vessels to show, shrinking of the skin, puffiness, redness or bags and also, dark circles developing under the eye area.

- Shrinking of the skin around the eyes can be as a result of dehydration of the skin. In order to avoid this, make sure you wash your face thoroughly every night and use a mild cleansing product or a few drops of baby shampoo to cleanse the eye area especially if you have very sensitive skin. A moisturizer, preferably one containing hyaluronic acid should then be used and properly massaged into this area until its completely absorbed by the skin.

Nooo! Don't mix Iman and black opal. Black opal foundation is cream based and will look a little caked when combined with Iman powder. Its either you use strickly blackopal, or you buy marykay foundation with your Iman powder.

Iman is another good product I like.
The foundation and transluscent powder will give u a flawless look, especially if you are dark skinned but if you're on the light side, you can use marykay

JuicyGee: Pls is Iman liquid foundation and translucent powder a good product. And at most how much will it go for

That's almost unavoidable, but once you allow your foundation dry out properly, use either white powder or transluscent powder to set it, instead of brown powder. This should reduce the intensity of the stain

Every lady wants her face looking perfectly blended and flawless when she's going out. well, there's only one way to get that flawless looking skin if you don't already have it. Buy a good foundation.

Foundation is one makeup accessory you don't want to stay away from. It helps brighten up your face, especially when your skin is stressed. Lots of ladies already have one of these in their makeup bags/purses but using it is usually a problem. Its either because they got the wrong shade of foundation, thereby making their face too white or dark. Sometimes, buying the wrong product is usually the problem.

For me, the best bet when it comes to foundation is either Mary Kay (above) or Maybelline (below) matte wear foundation. I've heard people make comments about these products, saying they aren't the best for our weather. well, you all are wrong. These foundations come in different shades and skin tone blends that suit all kinds of skin colour, so all you need to do is pick the right shade.

I'm not trying to promote these brands but thy work perfectly well for me and are readily available in most stores.
I always advice people to buy a foundation sponge. Its the best if you aren't a professional in makeup application, so leave the foundation brush to the pro's who'll know how to use it without leaving crack lines on the sides of their faces. There's also nothing wrong with using foundation everyday, as long as you wash your face every night when you get home.

Guidelines To Perfect Foundation Application
- Before buying your foundation, make sure you do a quick test. This test is carried out by applying and blending a little amount of the foundation on your jaw line and not on your hands because the foundation is for your face not body. Also, some peoples faces are darker than the rest of their body so using your hands as your ''buy guide'' might just help you pick the wrong shade.
- After picking the right shade of foundation, apply a reasonable amount on the sponge and rub all over the face, covering every contour and corner.
- Ensure you blend into your hair line, ears and down your jaw to your neck line and even your chest, if you are wearing something that'll expose your chest.
- Never apply an extra coat of foundation on already dry layer of foundation.
- Some people also say you shouldn't apply foundation on your eyelids but I'm saying you can, only if you don't have an eye primer, which most people don't except you are totally into makeup.
- If you have really oily skin, I advice that you skip moisturizers or facial creams before applying your foundation.
- Once you are done applying your foundation, let it dry out a little to avoid you face looking caked after you apply your powder.
- Dust your brown powder all over your face to set the foundation.

Thanks a lot for reading through, please leave your comments, contributions and questions. Will be glad to reply and help resolve any part you don't understand wink

Well, you can have perfectly groomed eyebrows that still won't fit your face shape and that's just wrong.

Since I've been able to put you through choosing the perfect brow shape that best suits your face shape, I'll move on to giving you tips on how to achieve those perfect looking eyebrows.

Firstly, you need to know the outline of your eyebrows.

Perfect Blend: Hi beautiful ladies, I'm sure most of you have been able to identify your face shape by now. The next stage is determining the perfect brows for your face shape.

Round Face: If you have a round face, emphasizing the arch of the eyebrows will help give you a more narrow-faced appearance by drawing attention away from the width of your face. Your eyebrows should have a high arch and extend to the end of the cheekbone.

Fashion/Clothing MarketSteps To Help Your Eyelashes Grow by PerfectBlend(op): 9:25pm On Jan 18, 2013
Lots of women these days are more conscious about their eyes and doing everything possible to make them pop. One of the ways we have adapted is fixing artificial lashes also know as false lashes. What if I tell you that there's a way to groom your own lashes to growth? Oh yes.....there's a way out.

It is more practical and convenient to maintain your own natural eyelashes than to invest time and money in fake ones. Even if Nature has neglected them, you can still achieve the effect of long, curled lashes if you give them some proper care. I'm sure most of us have an eyelash brush or an old mascara wand somewhere in our makeup purses, this is the time to dig it out.

It is recommended that the eyelashes be brushed twice a day from root to tip.Eyelashes also love castor oil, so keep a bottle on your dresser. At night before you go to sleep, ask someone to rub some castor oil on your lashes, while you keep your eyes closed. Remove it after 10 minutes with a cotton ball or pad.

There is also another homemade recipe that will make you proud of your eyelashes. Mix 10 grams of Vaseline, 7 grams of castor oil and 0.25 grams of tannin. Apply mixture daily to make your eyelashes grow and become silky soft. Never cut your eyelashes, even if their tips are sun burnt. This will not make them grow longer.
