I think is possible see the attached below
Well you can give it a try. But status and nationality mostly doesn't include Visiting Visa. To apply for a Visa your address and many details are required even some will ask you for proof of residency which exclude visitors visa. I am only speaking from experience. I I lived and applied for US visa in different countries including Europe.

I also know that anything is possible with the USA, they mostly don't care about documents unlike thier European counterparts. So just give it a try
It is not possible to apply for a Visa for another country (USA included) if you have a visit visa in the country you apply from. Unless your husband have a UK resident permit, Study permit or a long stay visa . Only in few cases where the country you applying to do not have embassy or consulate in your country of residence.

quote author=AmeliaT post=109406759]Hi everyone,

I have a question that’s a little off road. Please help! Has anyone successfully applied for a U.S. visa from the UK and sat their interview over there? I mean Nigerians with just a tourist visa. Just wondering if this is permissible and feasible for my husband who wants to renew his U.S. visa due to the long waiting times in Nigeria. The website says they can take applications from all nationals regardless of their status in the UK as long as they’re not illegals but I want to know if this has worked for anyone practically. Thanks for your advice.
well i have once traveled on air maroc it is safe but they can disappoint alot. my trip to the uk with them their flight was cancelled and i spent 2 days in an hotel in lagos i had to tell them that i dont stay in lagos so they booked me in an hotel and i traveled 2 days latter when people thought i was gone when i was on my way back i checked the itinerary online and i realise that my connection from cassablanka to lagos as also been cancelled for another 2 days for me i did not mind but on getting to heathrow i met a woman who refuse to spend extra days in cassablanka so they transffered us to kenya airways and we had to spend extra hours to get to lagos. in fact i know someone that has missed his interview because of air maroc his flight was cancelled and he was in london for another 2 days and lost that job but if you not in a hurry you can go for it. there service is not bad just that they cancel flight alot.

thanks broi do not know why his confusing people. i have dropped my experience last week i have even recommend the form a for others i know people that have even gotten their visa already even db don mail me all with form a i even used 2 diff bank i wont explain again if you have more money you can use dorm acc but even now it more than extra 200k as euro as gone to about 264 in black market.
dolpaz:
Oga,

Stop confusing people here nah. I vividly remember Obiwann bashing you for this.

I was at Stanbic bank, Allen Junction with Kennyoguns to make the transfer. we were asked to use the Dorm option cos form A is meant for school blah blah blah.

Days after, he enquired from union bank head office and he was asked to do the following

1) open an account with them
2) Transfer the money
3) Bring supporting documents

And 72 hours Later, his account was debited and his db was credited.

That being said, I realized I have a very close cousin of mine who's presently working at Stanbic IBTC head office. I approached him in the office and he told me he's even the one in charge of sending the cash. He even Joked at me of "running to germany" lolz grin grin

Anyway, after series of discussion, he showed me over 6 transactions which he has carried out and I also verified it myself.

But unfortunately, he said he could not help me because my admission letter was not signed, hence he cant do anything. he can only process the money if the account holder has an account with them, has a "Signed" admission letter, and other supporting documents.

I begged and begged but he said no, because that's the bank policy. Unless, I have gotten another job for him.

To cut the long story short Mr twinkle. stop mis-leading people. not everyone can afford the extra 200,000 by using Dorm account.

If it doesn't work for you, It may work for others, At least over 5 people have used this method here and it worked.

CBN has nothing to do with the case here. The bank will need to Buy Forex from the Apex bank and initiate the transfer.

My advice for swtxt is to open a stanbic account, transfer the fund to her account and initiate the transaction with other documents.

Others may contribute, but as for me, I rest my case here.

Sir, Zenith bank collects N3 for every 1000 transferred (exclusive of VAT), First bank collects N220 for transfers below 1m and N500 above 1m.
So different banks, different charges. So we shouldn't generalize all banks collects N150.

dolpaz made a suggestion on the use of online banking to save cost of transfer involving banks like Zenith with high charges.
That might be the only option here.
that is why i said my opinion i know of abouth 4 banks that charge less than 150 naira that i have transferred from and to and you should also know that there different type of transfer in access according to the mail they sent once from above 500k upward you will be charge about alot but to my suprise when i transferred only 100 was deducted .

Thanks so much for this. I was caught up with this Form A stuff .
The thing is that some banks know about this Form A. But there requirements and reasons are just one kind. E. g Fidelity asked one nairalander for a letter head from the school about estimates of student living costs.......

Now pls my most important questions are.
1) What we're you asked to submit?
2)what documents did you submit?
3) who did you speak to at the bank. I. E who were you relating with that forwarded your application in the bank.?
4)did you go to the head office or branch office to carry out the transaction.?

I intend using the EXACT method you used. I really don't want to use dorm. Dorm is 200k+ difference . I want to give this Form A thing one last shot.

Pls put me through Bro. I need this very Importantly. Thanks
well i was also asked by a guy at their head office (access) to provide letter head with school bill i even copied from my school web page with the school logo where it wa written that we should pay blocked account money. to make it easier i dont know where you stay but just go to any union bank in lagos with my observations from most of the bank union bank staffs knows more about it i even opened account in two union banks as they were all assuring me that the money will be sent that dey even send money for expatriate living abroad but with access it was not easy as even the guys at that unit also think they cant sent until was constantly persistent so use any union bank in lag they will do it for you without stress unlike other banks some of this bank also have connections with cbn than the other .

lolz I just dey look u..u dey find cheap means.. Why u no use ATM take withdraw the 2m or use ATM do transfer? tongue
lol.. No mind me. Abeg if ur money don complete, lock up for the intangible 7k make u fund that DB account ASAP. Cos once Greece gets out of their economic mess, the Euro would rise again, and you might end up spending much more than the 7k wey u de try save.
my opinion i dont think any bank will charge you more than 150 naira for transfer there different type of transfer i moved my money from access to union was charged 100 and moved it back to access was charged about that same amount i was also thinking the charge will be much cus of what i read about cbn regulation. just go and do the transfer i think from 10million upward is even 500 naira according to one mail i received from fcmb when they mailed me about increase in tariff

Regarding block account funding. I visited just two banks (GTBank, Fidelity Bank) in my area Festac Town. After I explained what I came for, I discovered that some of these bankers to a large extent lack knowledge of the task they have been saddled with. As for GTBank- the lady I was directed to made some calls and told me sorry that they have stopped Form A transactions. When i insisted and mentioned thier HQ, she said i should try their HQ that they might be an exception. As for Fidelity, I got in there, went to the Funds Transfer section and made my inquiries but I was surprised the lady said to me, I must have a corporate acct b4 I can talk about Form A transactions. So I got out and sent a mail to their headquarters and this is their reply below-

Dear Mr. Kingsley,

Thank you for your mail.

Regarding your enquiry, please note that we do not send out soft copy for form A. You will have to visit the branch with the following requirements:

FOR PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES

1. Current School Bill (the validity should be within the existing school calendar year and also under school logo)
2. School admission letter (for authenticity, it must be under school’s letterhead, or school logo, if sent via e-mail)
3. Copy of Applicant’s (account holder) International passport bio date page or certificate of incorporation/business registration for corporate bodies.
4. Customer’s Letter of Authority to debit for the transaction (properly verified by the branch)
5. Completed Form A with the school’s name indicated as the beneficiary.
6. For post-graduate degree, copy of First Degree Certificate (not Statement of Result)
Note that school fees will be paid directly into the school’s account.

FOR PAYMENT FOR STUDENT’S UPKEEP OR LIVING ALLOWANCE

1. Estimates of the Student’s Living Allowance on the school’s letter-head for authenticity
2. School admission letter (for authenticity, it must be under school’s letterhead, or school logo, if sent via e-mail)
3. Copy of Applicant’s (account holder) International passport bio date page or certificate of incorporation/business registration for corporate bodies.
4. Customer’s letter of authority to debit account for the transaction (properly verified at the branch)
5. Completed Form A with the student named as the beneficiary.
6. For post-graduate degree, copy of First Degree Certificate (not Statement of Result)
Currently, the only option for form A payments is interbank funds which can be accessed any day. The rate is as advised by Treasury Group.

Thank you for choosing Fidelity Bank.

.....so the bottom-line is that it is 100% possible using the Form A for funding the students acct. Again, seems one must be an acct holder. What I don't know now is what type of account needed ( savings or current).
well i dont understand why people still have issues with this form A thing and some even think its not possible i was sending my money through union bank with form a because i though my bank access bank would not do the transfer for me and union bank was about to transfer my money when i saw a guy that did his wit access i immediately cancelled my transaction with union bank cus their exchange rate was 226. i got a guys number at the unit that transfer the fund he misleaded me in the first place by telling me they can not transfer money to personal account that is why i went to union bank in the first place. so when i read about a guy that did his at access i called the guy back and para for him for making me move my money to union . he still insisted that they can not transfer to personal account (this is a guy that works directly in the unit that transfer from their head office) so i told him i will send him my document and he should show his boss that approves all the transfer he then called me after receiving my mail that i should go to any access bank and send the document and the branch will be the one to send it to them. i was just debited today and my money as been sent. the person we did interview together did his last week within 3 days with union bank and got message from db 2 days after transaction. but if you are too rich you can go for domiciliary acct. instead of arguing that its impossible why not talk to those that have done it . i even cancelled my transaction from one bank and use a cheaper one so one also need to be patient as the transaction time varies cus they have to buy euro for you from central bank. branch can do it just tell them to call their head office even when i went to the access branch the lady wanted to say she does not think one can send to personal account even does at the transfer unit in the head office did not know so you should insist and use banks that people have mentioned here. i have recommended it to others and they have done their transaction .

********'I intend to stay no longer than twelve months in the federal territory and apply for a visa that covers the whole duration of my stay '*******

[s] THE EMBASSY WILL GIVE 3 MONTHS VISA TO ENTER GERMANY . WHEN NOW IN GERMANY,THEY WILL GIVE YOU ONE OR TWO YEARS RESIDENCE PERMIT WHEN ONE APPLIES AT THE LOCAL AUTHORITY.

THE STATEMENT SIMPLY MEANS.. DO YOU WANT TO STAY IN GERMANY WITHIN 12 MONTHS DURING WHICH YOU APPLY FOR A RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR YOUR STUDY. THE ANSWER IS YES.

BECAUSE WITHIN 3 MONTHS YOU SHOULD HAVE APPLIED. SO IT SHOULD BE TICKED.

MY OWN OPINION. [/s] MY OPINION IS NOT CORRECT. I'M NOT VERY CERTAIN SO I CANCELLED IT. TILL THE LIGHT ON THIS IS FULLY SHONE.

New light.. I read an opinion in a forum that it's intended for study or stay less than a year. So it should not be ticked.
if you intend to stay more than a year do not tick it.

My advise to everyone includin Takeastep...quitely go for public Insurance baba...if u re under 30 u will contribute abt 81.50euros a mth...the advantages re far more than private insurance...

Disadvantages of Private Insurance...

1.if you visit the hospital..u get to pay ur bill fitst and then get partial refund from ur insurance coy...very tricky and the health care cost is high..a friend of mine once vsiited a Dr. And complained of abdominal pains only for the doc to just examine him, gave him pain relievers and then referred him to the general hospital again nothin was diagnosed and he was asked to take same drugs he received from the former doc....and my friend recieved abt 120euros for the first doc( Dr.Pain .....) and abt 140 for the second one...He had to pay and then file a claim with his insurance company..save urself this headache...yes pple will argue that Nigerians don't fall ill yes I agree I barely visit the clinic ( except when I ve "wicklo" caused by bittin my nails out of boredom or being tensed..u wont believe..I had to do an Xray and a minor sugery for that , If I was usin a private Insurance coy I would ve been done with financially cos I did same minor surgery twice within 6mths.. ) ....to be on the safer side just go with the govt insurance .

2. Some employers will not employ u with private insurance ( e.g Amazon)..they will ask u to get a new insurance contract before u get the job and they will pay for it...

3.In some uni...e.g Bochum and Bonn Rhein seig or so ...they prefer and encourage student to use govt insurance ...Aok..Tk..etc.

4.Dependin on ur job contract..at times u can file for payment of sick leave from Ur Krankenkasse (health Insurance coy) ..well I really dont know hw this works and if its applicable to students...I guess it will be after 6weeks of sick leave the krankenkasse will step in and pay for sick leave..( Prolong illness)..well I dont wish this for anyone..but again we live in a world when nothing is certain.

Disadvantage of Govt Insurance....

Cost...the difference is abt 40 euros a mth....

Think and choose wisely

All the best pple.

Modified...Emirates airline use to ve cheap flights then...U can also check Airmaroc or use opodo.com to check for cheap flights......

bros then you do not have a problem you can redraw, as they will only verify the authenticity of your document . they have no business checking your balance even the bank will not tell them as that is confidential. they will only verify the genuity of what you submitted hope this has finally answered your question?

you are correct usa issues visa base on credibility interview and do not care about document as they know document can be forge. so the consular uses their discretion. but uk and most schengen countries verifies. uk does more intense verification as they have a verification unit in their embassy which work is to verify document .
Obiwannn:
please do u know the embassies that verify and the ones that dont? I know for certain that US does not verify an account statement submitted at their embassy. Which other embassies do not?

why did u get a return ticket when one way could have been cheaper?
Or are you returning after the 3 month program?

i think what you are asking is if the embassy will verify the statement of account you submit? well the embassy will only verify if what you submitted is genuine from the bank audit department, and will not ask the amount since you have submitted your statement . however some embassies do not have time for that. but bro i will advise you to be honest if you submit fake statement and you caught na barn be that.

Obiwannn:
lol..I dunno oh, but boys will have to look for something cheaper oh..
thought I saw 120 something earlier this month when I checked flight prices to Hamburg, although the day of departure I keyed in was sometime in September. But with you having to pay 170+, I guess you booked like a week or two before departure? and it seems one really has to book the flight thingy way ahead of time.
