Laying down a foundation of another teaching hospital, when Lautech Teaching Hospital is there which they can't even maintain in terms of structures and personnel. It's a misplaced priority and one of the political gimmicks. |

PRESS RELEASE DELIVERED BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE NIGERIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (NMA) , OSUN STATE BRANCH; DR TOKUNBO OLAJUMOKE AT A PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE ONGOING STRIKE ACTION BY JOHESU AT THE STATE SECRETARIAT IN OSOGBO, OSUN STATE ON TUESDAY, MAY 22, 2018. The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Osun State branch is the umbrella body for all Medical and Dental Practitioners in the Federal and State Teaching Hospitals, Private Sector, the Government Secondary health facilities and the Local Government Primary health facilities in the state. One of the aims of the association is to assist the government and the good people of the state in the provision of smooth, efficient and effective health care delivery. The state NMA has keenly monitored events since the commencement of an indefinite strike action by the allied health workers under the amorphous group called JOHESU; a group alien to the healthcare industry and the Laws of our dear country, Nigeria. Following the state executive council meeting of our noble association held on May 17, 2018, where the issue of the ongoing strike action by JOHESU was discussed in the light of its unnecessary disruption of the progress that has been achieved in the health sector, the following pertinent observations were made; 1) JOHESU (comprising of all health workers in the hospital except the doctors, including the Nurses, the pharmacists, the gatemen and the cleaners) declared an indefinite strike on April 18, 2018. 2) The strike action borders on the leadership in the hospital and pay parity with medical doctors. 3) Globally, remuneration of workers is based on professional qualifications, relevance, input to work, international best practices among some other factors. 4) All allied healthcare professionals only act on patients upon the directive of the doctor which is the concept of clinical governance and which is acceptable as the best practice worldwide until the birth of JOHESU! 5) Despite the unfriendly environment created by this group, our members have resolved to run all clinics, adult and children emergencies, dental unit and day case surgery at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife. 6) Some very critical points of patient care, equipment and lifesaving medical apparatuses have been locked up by the members of JOHESU at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife. 7) The Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 provides in Article 13 (2) & (3) that: Every citizen shall have the right of equal access to the public service of his country; every individual shall have the right of access to public property and services in strict equality of all persons before the law. The CMD remains the administrative and medical head; and such decisions as where to lock and unlock in the hospital are at his discretion. The meeting also noted for the education of the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large that: 1) Whether merited or not, health workers earn more basic salary than their counterparts in the rest of the public service. It is however unfortunate that allied health workers who on one hand agreed to the advantaged salary difference with their counterparts, will covert same salary with doctors who dictate proceedings in the management of patients and do a superior job. In view of the above observations, the meeting resolved as follows: 1) NMA is never opposed to salary increment as being agitated for by JOHESU. However, the government is reminded of the January 2014 agreement that any increment in CONHESS salary scale must be followed by a corresponding adjustment in the CONMESS scale. 2) JOHESU members should conduct themselves in an honourable manner as other members of the society when there is an industrial dispute and submit all the government belongings in their care to those who are willing to use them for the benefit of the masses. |
That's why we have doctor's , if you love your son here's not the best place to get the appropriate solution... in my own opinion. |
I think, from all what I read on the internet about the appropriate engine oil for any particular car although the manufacturer specifications is the the best but environmental temperature is also an important factors to be considered. The manufacturer are in cold weather and. Most recommended using a thinner oil in winter and possibly a thicker one in summer. I will want to say regular change of oil is the key. From my personal experience with Toyota Camry 1999. I used super V (20w,50) with oil treatment for 8yrs + the engine still steams when warning it every morning ant it runs smoothly more than a friends tokunbo that I drove recently. To conclude with regular oil change is the best, I change my it every 3,000-3500km. |

..people are really suffering in Osun, but other sectors kept quiet.. I think it's only doctors government juju didn't catch.. These people(health workers) deals with lifes, there's no spare life, they can't afford to do mistakes but how does government expect an health worker collecting a fractionated salaries (not even up to 50%) that can no longer pay his or her bills to function optimally in this business of life saving?? I think it's a deliberate inhumane attempt to wreck health sectors in osun state which must be stopped. The so called State hospital is deserted, all you hear on radio is free health but if you go there, you have to buy everything from Biro and exercise book to document ..to fuel in the generator if your condition require surgery. The government believes in white elephants project while average residents can hardly afford a meal daily When will all this propaganda/ lies stop in Osun.. #MayGodsaveosunstate |
...Chai! Chai!!!.Chai!!!! Diariz God oooooo. Mr Governor pls pay doctors. |

This has left the unsuspecting populace to poor and inefficient health care. Yet our people have remained silent. We have met officials of Osun State government and high-ranking politicians on several fora with no favourable outcome. iii. Misplaced Priorities Careful observations in the state have revealed that, workers' salaries is at the bottom of the government's scale of prefrence.Do we have to kill people to ensure actualisation of self-driven projects? Conclusion The entire members of the association of resident Doctors plead with the entire people of Osun State to lend their voice of appeal to the government of Osun State to stop the deliberate harm to doctors and at the same time secure their health (populace). Though the government wants us dead; we won’t commit suicide, we deserve a better life!! Long Live ARD, LTH OSOGBO! Long Live Osun NMA! Long Live Osun State! President. General secretary PRO |
OSUN GOVERNMENT WANTS US DEAD!!! " PRESS RELEASE BY THE ASSOCIATION OF RESIDENT DOCTORS, LAUTECH TEACHING HOSPITAL, OSOGBO ON MONDAY, 1ST MAY 2017 AT THE ARD SECRETARIAT. Preamble The Association of Resident Doctors is the umbrella association of all medical doctors below the cadre of consultants in LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo. One of the objectives of the association is to provide appreciable welfare and palpable support system to her members, who labour day and night to sustain the health care delivery system in the state. At the same time, the Association is also poised towards ensuring that people of Osun State have access to standard health care services as obtainable in other teaching hospitals in the country. LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, was established by the Decree of Military Government of the old Oyo State in 1991. The official Government Gazette that established the Teaching Hospital states clearly that it will operate at per (in areas of health care services provision and remuneration of her staffs)with other teaching hospitals in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is on these important premises that the ARD LAUTECH OSOGBO has continuously reiterated that doctors must earn their salaries to function effectively. The Association has maintained that the payment of emoluments of essential services providers should not therefore be optional since it will be preposterous to put the lives of the masses in the hands of unpaid doctors - this is likened to putting one's hands in the fire and expecting not to burn the hands! Issues Poor infrastructures The Association wishes to bring to the notice of the public that facilities in the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo for health care delivery have degenerated rapidly over years. It is an irony that the government that has demonstrated unprecendented bias towards infrastructural development, even though at the expense of worker's welfare, has neglected the health sector. Our people have been condemned to death by this singular act of the government. Poor Remuneration At present, resident doctors in LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo are the lowest paid doctors, throughout the entire Federal Republic of Nigeria. A resident doctor in LTH, Osogbo earns one fourth of the salary of his colleagues in other teaching hospitals - this can easily be verified. Not only this, doctors remain the only set of workers among all staffs within the hospital with this disturbing statistics. How did we get here? In 2015, the governor of Osun State and other labour unions (strategically leaving doctors out) agreed to a fractionalization of their salaries to half of original earnings. The doctors in the state were not part of this agreement and they would never be as this is alien to labour law. We are being owed salaries from july, 2015 till date, including months of unpaid salaries during the period of suspension of services in demanding for our rightful wage. Our doctors toil day and night trying to safeguard the health of the people at the expense of their families. Our children do not see us at home because of tight working hours and call duties. Yet we have nothing to show than fractionalized, truncated, bastardized and FULLY TAXED QUARTER SALARIES! Sometimes last year, we secured a commitment (MOU) from government that the arrears of the fractionalised salaries would be paid once the economy improves. It is thus amazing that despite several funds (excess crude oil, paris club refund etc.) received into the coffers of the state, this promise is yet to be fulfilled. Yet, members of the Association had continued to work under this atmosphere of hardship. This is certainly demoralising and sickening that doctors can be subjected to this kind of treatment at this age and time. It is indeed a shame! Our doctors have continued to migrate from the state to neighbouring states and outside the country since this started.
