The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, on Saturday said that political godfathers can be defeated in Lagos state. The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, on Saturday said that political godfathers can be defeated in Lagos state. According to Punch, the Kaduna State Governor spoke in Ikoyi, Lagos, at an event organised by the Bridge Club tagged, “An evening with His Excellency Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State.” El-Rufai said that he defeated and retired four political godfathers in Kaduna State, saying the feat could be replicated anywhere, including Lagos State. In his main speech, El-Rufai had encouraged the club members, who are businessmen, not to shy away from politics, saying it was more important than making money as bad politics could mess up their businesses. Godfatherism. This is Lagos. Let me tell you something sir; you know, Kaduna State used to be like that. There were three or four politicians in Kaduna that you could not become anything unless you had them on your side. Those were the godfathers of Kaduna politics and you had to carry them along and you know, the three words, ‘carry them along’ mean paying them regularly. “But we chose a different path and the long and short of it now is that after this election in 2019, we have retired all of them; we had to,” El-rufai said in response to the question raised by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and three-time commissioner in Lagos State, Dr Muiz Banire on how godfathership can be dealt with. He added that, “Here in Lagos, you have over six million registered voters, only about a million voted (in 2019 general elections); five million did not vote. If I want to run for governor of Lagos, I will start now. I will commission a study to know why those five million registered voters did not vote; where do they go on election day? Then I will start visiting them for the next four years. I will try and get just two million of them to come and vote for me; I will defeat any godfather. The key is to go to the people. The card reader and the biometric register have given us the tools to connect directly with the people. I assure you if you do that for the next four years, connecting with the people; the tin godfather, you will retire him or her permanently. But it is hard work; it requires three to four years of hard work. So, if you want to run in 2023, you should start now.” On the question of money, El-Rufai said it would require about N2bn to do the job, which he said the businessmen could provide. “With about N2bn; if you start, you see these guys with black ties, they will give you the N2bn. Many of the godfathers are either on paper or in the mind of people in politics. They are defeatable. We retired four of them in Kaduna State within a four-year time and they are gone. One of them boasted that he put me in the government house and he would take me out.” https://dailytrust.com/how-to-defeat-lagoss-godfather-nasir-el-rufai/

I think by now everybody must have made up their minds on voting Peter Obi... |
Hallucinate all you want.. |
Polls result from registered party members... ![]() Someone failed to remind them this is not party primaries.. |
Yeah... and its all happening today the 15th when the court case would hold.. Co-incidence... I don't think so. |
If not that my life and its trajectory is dependent on who we collectively vote for, what really would i be discussing with someone who votes a Tinubu that stutters or an Atiku that does not believe in equity and fairness.. |
Always speak truth(solution) to power not problems.. |
blackmantis:Where there is a will, there is a way... bush people have been receiving monies from relatives prior now.. |
Its been almost 2 weeks after CBN initial deadline.. i used to be addicted to POS centres, but now, i can't remember when last i saw a naira note, but i have been making transactions and surviving... We would all adjust eventually, Good change comes at a price.. - Open multiple bank account - Get ATM cards - Download banking mobile apps for transfers - Get POS device for your outfits - Move to the next seller if the previous says "cash only" Of what use is you not learning about technology, its not like the world would go back to the stone ages.. |
Hmmm |
Well on that day, APC and PDP apologists when faced with the ballot box and dejavou of the past 8years would vote OBI for a clear conscience while assuming their collegues would follow party lines... Obi wins eventually... |
A lawyer alledgely gave factful details of how you were found in dehumanizing positions having sex, he mentioned how your father bailed you, how your wife left you, how the community know and the nickname you were given, but here you are rather than arresting and imprisoning the lawyer, you came to tell us.... What for?. |
8years... are you not ashamed saying this nonsense! |
Is transformative leader a Job description.. we all know the drug den he was accounting from, if you say otherwise, please bring the proof Nigeria has been looking for. |
I read the report and all I see "Fitch solution" not "fitch rating" saying is "Nigeria would be history if Tinubu becomes president"... |
Treasure17:Empty reetard... brainless dolts that think they have monopoly of insults because it's an anonymous forum.. The policy stands.. Nigeria would be great again. |
Gboom:Most of those big shops usually use transfers or POS even before the policy.. the network would definitely be overloaded due surge in users, overtime it would become better.. had same issue previously, now its seamless.. |
Cj4charles:Stop behaving like an illiterate.. when you check your bank balance, dont you see your money there?.. have you not been surviving since the policy was passed, are there no other means of payment through various channels.. go cashless. |
Treasure17:Why bother... have you ever run a business or even have the brains for one.. do run along with helping others achieve their dreams. how do you think the wallet system came about.. |
Cj4charles:Useless you... if there is no demand, we wont have supply..if they didnt connive to buy from the banks at blackmarket rates due to personal greed to pass it down to end users, would the bankers swallow the monies?.. Penny wise pound foolish.. |
Gboom:The POS would definitely print receipts.. customers can be asked to make transfer to card holders if it's not a direct bank. |
It's amazing how all of a sudden Tinubu is concerned about the welfare of Nigerians, same man that asked "where are the cows"... "same man that switched off the lights and removed the cameras at the toll gates during endsars.. Did our collegues die for the oppressor to gain power? |
There is a pattern here... majorly APC state Governors are complaining.. Are Nigerians not living in other states or have they found solution?.. |
edoairways:We are adjusting.. it was crazier than it was initially.. |
Gboom:Hmmmm.....There is a business opportunity there... "Trader merger"... merge various small shops and outfits they credit trader merger POS with credit records, at the close of work, monies are disbursed to various accounts while you retain a small amount of charges (maybe 2%) because it would be lump sum. |
Good news... the POS merchants killed the business, this is what happens when greed takes over.. people are seeking other convenient alternatives.. |
Nice.. love this, we would all eventually adjust.. 10 traders can come together and get a POS, record their sales and transfers are made to individual accounts at the end of the day. |
You pick a Muslim muslim candidacy, yet complain the Christians are ganging up against it... Is that not idiocy.. |
Parachoko:What is the name of the bank and the address?.. at no time did the camera pan out to just show the bank logo.. we have gone past this level of propaganda. |
Ayodeoba:You wanted to... make a transfer or use POS.. try another trader if one refuses.. |
talk2hb1:Some busdrivers are now picking up POS from banks and microfinance.. |
Gboom:Make transfers where neccessary... if a trader disagrees, try another.. |
