My name is Peter Kwamande and today I will be educating you on Academic Writing.

What is Academic Writing?
Academic writing is the formal writing style used in colleges and universities. It is what students are expected to produce for classes and what professors and academic researchers use to write scholarly materials. High schools sometimes require academic writing style in certain classes.

Different types of academic writing include:
1. Abstract
2. Annotated bibliography
3. Academic journal article
4. Book report
5. Conference paper
6. Dissertation
7. Essay
8. Explication
9. Literary criticism
10. Research paper
11. Research proposal
12. Textbook
13. Thesis

Characteristics of Academic Writing
1. Formal tone - A formal tone is always used in academic writing. It is not lighthearted or conversational in tone. Slang and clichés do not belong in this type of writing.
2. Precise language - In keeping with the formal tone, it’s important to choose precise language that very clearly conveys the author’s meaning.
3. Point-of-view (POV) - Academic writing is usually written in third person POV because its focus is to educate on the facts rather than to support an opinion or give advice.
4. Research focus - Because most academic writing involves reporting research results, it tends to focus on the specific research question(s) being studied.
5. Organization - Academic writing should be organized logically in a linear, matter-of-fact fashion. Use headings to delineate each major section.
6. Source citations - Most academic writing includes at least some secondary research sources. Be sure to properly cite all sources and include a bibliography.

Of course, individual assignments may sometimes have different requirements. Always review submission guidelines carefully to verify you are following the proper format and style.

Academic Writing Structure
1. Introduction
In the introduction, you must grab the reader's attention and identify the thesis of the paper.
2. Body
This is the main part of the work. The paragraphs must be clearly written and arranged in a logical order.
3. Conclusion
The purpose of the conclusion is to cleanly bring the paper to a close for readers. It should reiterate the thesis and summarize the main points or findings.

Remember to write with an authoritative tone and ensure that your work flows coherently. That way, readers of your paper will be able to follow your reasoning and understand the conclusion and its implications.

Happiness is the key towards living a happy life. Happiness has no common definition and meaning that is accepted by all.Every individual defines happiness in his/her own unique way, the way he/she feels it.

Happiness can never be seen, it can only be felt by the one who get it.

Happiness is said to be an individual's beliefs, faith, desires and aspirations.

Happiness is connected with things that make you feel happy such as faith, wealth, career, relationships and love. For many people happiness is much more than career, success and wealth.

It is said that happiness is attaining something which is most important to you as compared to all other things. Happiness is also said to be a way to have positive attitude towards life. Happiness can also be attained by doing good deeds towards others or treating others the way that makes you and them happy as well.

For some happiness means loving life and seeing others happy. Everyone has their own unique way to feel happy by finding things that they never expected to find.

Happiness is finding reasons behind your existence. The extent of happiness cannot be measured by any scale. Happiness is neither tradable nor profitable. Everybody wants happiness in their lives. We must always be contented and happy with whatever we have. Though many people find happiness in wealth or materialistic things such as cars, TV, clothes, jewelry, cell phones, bikes, houses etc. but they fail to understand that wealth is material and cannot guarantee happiness in the long run.

Even those who have owe all the luxury of life sometimes fail to attain happiness. Ultimately the decision to be happy lies with us. Finding happiness with the things we have is very important in life. If you are choosing happiness in success then you must keep trying to succeed if once failed.

What makes a business successful? How do you build a successful business even when you have limited capital and experience ? Well, I advice you read on.

4. A Great Team
You can be a successful self employed entrepreneur or artisan but to be a successful business owner, you need a team. Now I am not talking about your regular staff or employees, I am talking about assembling a business team that provides strategic direction and execution of your plans.

5. Competence
Of all the business success factors listed here, competence is the most important. Why? The reason is because without competence, all other factors are null and void. Even with all the capital, ideas and customers in the world; if you are not competent enough to handle them, you will lose them in due time.

6. Customer Loyalty
The reason you are in business is to serve the customers and if your business cannot serve customers, then it is dead on arrival. But serving customers is not enough to ensure a business’ survival and eventual success. To succeed, you need to raise an army of loyal customers and to achieve such; you need to make them a specific promise and deliver on such promise.

In conclusion, I want to state with emphasis that if your business has all these factors; then there’s nothing really stopping you from reaching the top. However, you must note that attaining a status where you control these six factors is not an easy task. It’s a task that requires time and dedication.
