Properties / How Many Bedroom Flat Is Suitable For A Family Of Four? by PetiteB: 11:26am On Jan 18, 2017
Source: https://www.tolet.com.ng/blog/how-many-bedroom-flat-is-suitable-for-a-family-of-four/?utm_source=naraland&utm_campaign=nairaland18_01_2017&utm_medium=blog

Accommodation is no doubt a basic need in every family. It develops after graduation from the level of bachelorhood or spinsterhood to the level of marriage. Apartments for singles can be transformed into a home for a newlywed. Yet, as time goes on, there may be a need for change. Also, some singles do not consider their apartments appropriate for marriage.

A family of four is a family that consists of two adults and two children. Choosing the right kind of accommodation for this type of family is tricky;

I have the ideal picture of an apartment suitable for a family of four. But this is dependent on the choices and the decision of the parents. So if I recommend a two-bedroom flat and the family prefers a three-bedroom flat or a duplex, I will be wrong.

Properties / How To Decorate A Nigerian Lady's Apartment by PetiteB: 6:14pm On Jan 17, 2017
Source: https://www.tolet.com.ng/blog/how-to-decorate-a-nigerian-ladys-apartment/?utm_source=naraland&utm_campaign=nairaland16_01_2017&utm_medium=blog

A lady is a woman who is refined, polite, and well-spoken. She is a woman of high social position or economic class. In great Britain, the word “Lady” is the proper title of any woman whose husband is higher in rank than baronet or knight, or who is the daughter of a nobleman not lower than an earl (although the title is given by courtesy also to the wives of baronets and knights).
Looking at the class and ranking of a Lady in the society, one should assume that a Lady’s room should also be a reflection of the class and the calibre of the woman. Every lady is a woman, but every woman is not a lady.

So if you are a Lady and not just a girl or if you want to be a lady, decorate your apartment like one, so that the vision would get closer and become achievable. Let us first divide the space into basic areas; the living room, kitchen, and the bedroom. Enjoy the tips below on how to decorate a lady’s apartment.

The Living Room

Let’s start with the living room.

Let’s start with the living room. This your own lounging area. It is best to design this room as what best describes you and your personality. If you love to have girls’ night out, pizza party, house fellowships, or a book club. It is also where you’ll be inviting guests to.You may want; a classy shade of pink; a cool shade of cream or a combination of two or more beautiful colours.
For me, a cool shade of cream with coffee brown furniture fitting is cool. but back to what I wrote earlier on, our living room only shows your identity.

Kitchen
Now the kitchen, to some, the kitchen is the most important part of the house. While to others, it is just a corner of the house where you can go when yo need to sip a cup of coffee. This also has to do with perspective and personality. So if you want to decorate your kitchen to taste. Do a quick self-evaluation. If you don’t like cooking, you may be comfortable with other people around cooking for you. You don’t have to design your kitchen like a chef. If you don’t like home made food at all. You classy kitchen may just be a comfortable home to houses your beverages and cutlery.
Lady's room
This also depends on the space you have, your kitchen can be a small area or a wide area depending on the basic structure of your unit or your need of space. However the setting of your kitchen, I am sure you want to make it look amazing.

Your Bedroom

This is your comfort zone. You wouldn’t want to trade its luxury for anything in the world. Your bedroom is the most important part of your apartment. It houses your bed and accommodates your sleep. Your sleep is very important to your health. So an unhealthy bedroom is an unhealthy lifestyle.
Make your you room is properly ventilated. Get a very good and comfy mattress. A beautiful bedsheet combined with, a duvet, soft pillows, and a fluffy blanket work wonders.

Lady's Room

It should have what other women only women dream about, a vanity table, where all your makeup and beauty essentials are and where you can further beautify yourself. This can be a holy grail for some who adores cosmetics is also functional in general. Your bedroom can make your room feel like heaven. Sweet dreams Lady!

Are you ready to join the Lady’s Team? Visit our website www.tolet.com.ng to start your journey to your ladylike apartment right now. Click on the link below. Layo doesn’t believe that my apartment is ladylike enough. If you have more tips or better pictures of how a lady’s room should be, pls don’t hesitate to share your opinion with me by commenting. Crime / 10 Ways To Secure Your Home From Burglars This Season by PetiteB: 5:30pm On Dec 29, 2016
One of the annoying things about living in Lagos is the prominence of armed robbery attacks. While insecurity in Northern Nigeria is due to attack by terrorists, that of Southern Nigeria is commonly caused by militants and robbery attacks. The recent crisis caused by militants in Ikorodu backs my point.
Even houses in Lagos Island are subject to cases of burglary despite the availability of ‘tight security’. One of such cases is the recent invasion into the popular comedian’s apartment in Lekki.
But there should be a way out! There might be some security measures which you’re neglecting even with your barb-wire fence.
I have a list of 10 ways to prevent robbery attack whether your house is within Lagos Island or mainland.

Employ an Intelligent Gateman
During one of my real estate surveys around the Island, I discovered most apartments have uneducated gatemen, mostly Hausas. Some of these Hausa gatemen can just be like robots, doing all you tell them without applying discretion. Therefore, if you really want security you should be willing to make the financial sacrifice of employing a more intelligent gateman.

Hold a household meeting
Make home security a habit, with every member of the household—including kids. Instruct kids, in particular, to cultivate the habit of locking every door and window when leaving, entering, and before bedtime; do not open the door to uninvited or unwelcome visitors.

Call on the Police
The typical Nigerian policeman would hardly respond to emergency calls. Even so, you should still make a policeman friend that would be a friend in time of need such as robbery attack.

Remove the ‘hidden’ house key
The key under the mat, inside the mailbox, beneath a rock—everybody hides a house key. Problem is, burglars know your hiding places. Instead, give it to a trusted neighbour.

Add keep-off signs
Post security company signs or window stickers near all entryways, whether you have a security system or not. Maybe you have signs or stickers on hand from a previous contract with a security firm, or maybe you can get some from a friend. In addition, post a few “Beware of Dog” signs in visible spots, say at the front of the house or on a gate to the backyard.

Lock up the ladder
Don’t store a ladder outside. A burglar, perhaps posing as a handyman or contractor, could use it to gain access to a second-floor window or balcony.

Light up the outdoors
If you don’t have them already, buy and install outdoor lighting near each point of entry. Also, replace any burned-out lightbulb.

Install timers
When you leave for work or appointments or go on vacation, you can create a “someone’s at home” look using timers on lights and TVs. No surprise, there are lots of gadgets available. Fake TV, for instance, simulates the flickering lights of a television, and from outside, it appears that someone is watching TV.

Secure Air-Conditioning units
Unsecured window air conditioners could provide an easy entry point for a crook. Use an air conditioner bracket, sliding window lock, or corner braces.

Eliminate hiding spots
If your lawn is too tall, bushy, or not well spaced, you’re providing a nice hiding spot for a potential burglar. Hence, trim and prune plantings regularly.
Although it’s impossible to make your house perfectly secure, I hope that these low-tech measures will do 90 percent of the job.

Events / The Top 11 Places To Eat Amala In Lagos (See Pictures) by PetiteB: 1:30pm On Dec 21, 2016
Nigerian food is great. It’s hard to argue with this statement if you’ve ever had amala with gbegiri plus ewedu and lots of goat meat (ogufe). If you don’t like amala, I feel bad for you because you have absolutely no idea the kind of joy that eating can bring. It’s like heaven, winning the lottery, marrying the love of your life, and having your first child all rolled into one. No matter where you are on the globe, a plate of Amala immediately reminds you of home (especially if you’re Yoruba). I could go on and on extolling the virtues of this great local delicacy. If you haven’t eaten Amala before and are intent on trying it out, the right first Amala experience is key. You should try out Amala and gbegiri at any of these 11 amazing spots in Lagos.

Olaiya, Surulere

The secret to the ever-present crowd at the Olaiya canteen in Surulere has been passed down from one generation to another. Whatever it is does not matter much to us amala lovers, as long as they keep serving us wonderful amala gbigbona with ewedu plus gbegiri and lots of soft chunky kpomo. There’s also a branch in the University of Lagos but the ‘real Olaiya experience’ is in Surulere.

White House, Yaba
Yaba has been hailed as Nigeria’s Silicon Valley and as is the nature of things, even coders need to eat. A personal favourite of most who work in the area, White House is very affordable and serves very delicious amala. If you’re ever in the Yaba area, roll up your sleeves, wash your hands and dig into an exquisite plate of amala from the world famous White House.

Iya Eba, Onikan

Lagos Island is home to some of the best local food spots in the country and this small buka on Berkely street has earned its reputation as far back as the 80s. Their signature amala + ewedu dish often leaves one wondering about the name of the buka and how apt it is.

Belgium Canteen, Mile 2

Forget the foreign sounding name, these folks know how to dish the best of the local. You may have to wait your turn though cause lunchtime at Belgium is reminiscent of rush hour traffic.

Defence Car Park Canteen, Marina

Marina is home to the men and women in ties and suits. Those ties come down when it’s time to eat the more commonly known Amala First Bank. Don’t forget to take off your jacket cause the hot soft amala and tasty goat meat will have you sweating in no time. Their staff are always on hand to meet your demand and make sure you’re back at the office before your lunch break is up.

Amala Yahoo, Ogudu-Ojota
Yahoo in Nigeria rarely has positive connotations but be rest assured, this isn’t a hub for scammers. The food is delicious, the ambience is great and the location is quaint. Its popularity has grown in the past few years and you may need to wait a while whenever you get there before you get a chance to taste the goodness.

Amala Canada, Ebute-Metta

Canada has its maple syrup, Canada Villa in Ebute-Metta has its Amala Canada. The food is great and should leave you wanting to eat amala every day.

Yakoyo, Ilupeju

It’s not just food with Yakoyo, it’s an eating exhibition. Taste and service designed to ensure you keep coming. Their special “meat cutting” feature means you never have to worry about splashing soup in your eyes or on your clothes because of their well seasoned assorted meat. You can also order yours with catfish instead of meat if you want to switch things up a bit.

TopShot Amala, Parkview

This is one of the more luxury residential estates in Lagos and it’s only right it has its own top-notch Amala spot. If you live in Ikoyi, TopShot is an amala lover’s dream. It’s a tad expensive but you’re definitely gonna get value for your money.

Sonola, Ogba

Those who know, know. Not quite as heralded as the other spots on this list, it won’t take much to know why it’s one of my faves once you taste the amala and gbegiri. Don’t forget to bring a friend along next time you go, everyone deserves happiness.

Amala Shitta, Surulere

Surulere no dey carry last. Amala Shitta has over 40 years in the business and doesn’t intend to stop giving us delightful local delicacies. It’s also a wonderful spot to unwind with friends as you let your taste buds transport you to another realm.

If you wanna eat at all these wonderful bukas, you shouldn’t have to travel miles to your destination. Get a house with ToLet at a location close to your preferred buka and eat all the amala you want.

Career / Choosing Between Working In Lagos Mainland Or Lagos Island by PetiteB: 3:23pm On Dec 13, 2016
The choice of where to live affects many other decisions out of which is the decision of where to work.
I have found myself in the dilemma of whether to take up job opportunities found in both Lagos Island and Lagos mainland despite the fact that I reside closer to the mainland.

Basically, anyone would choose to work in an area closer to where he/she works and vice versa. However, in my case and that of others similar to mine, it may not necessarily be so, due to some Lagos factors.
Lagos Island can be said to have most of the highest-paying jobs and best-designed apartments than the mainland. But in terms of cost of living, it is more economical to live on the mainland.

Someone could get a job on the island paying a monthly salary of N300,000 and on the mainland paying, say, N200,000 monthly. Assuming this person resides on the mainland where accommodation is cheaper, he/she will have to spend more on transport fare to work on the Island plus the time that will have to be spent commuting to and fro Third Mainland bridge.

On the other hand, the person has the option of living on the island, closer to where he works with the benefit of saving cost on transport but to spend much more on accommodation than he does living on the mainland.
What is your advice? Take the Island job or the mainland job?
Trust me, many are struggling with this decision and your invaluable advice would go a long way. Kindly share your view by commenting below.

Do you know that you can rent an apartment for as low as 150,000 in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria or even below that? You can get a three bedroom flat for 250-400k. Yes I mean it. It is genuine. I am consistently conducting a research on that. what we are going to be doing is to make a list of selected cheap apartments and post it on this platform. You can list of the link to rent properties. All properties must be flat apartments. And all properties must be below 400k. If you want to rent a property, or you have a property for sale, you can come on board.

How much is a 2 bedroom flat there for a year?

A 2bedroom flat in Okota ranges from 300k to 400k. However, some may exceed that price. Okota is averagely a good place to live. It is secured and it is quite affordable. Check out this link, you will find something you love
