Politics › Re: Nigerians Condemn Nba’s Threat Over Judges’ Arrest by Phace(m): 11:25am On Oct 10, 2016 |
koboko69: 1. I have never seen any where in the constitution where there is a stipulated time for arrest. As a matter of fact, u can be arrested anytime, any where and any day. Arresting by 1am, 4am, 12pm or on to of your olosho is inconsequential.
2. I have never seen any where in the constitution, where a serving Judge or a lawyer can not be arrested. This is more like saying they have immunity.
3. As a matter of fact, one can be arrested with or without a warrant, on suspicion on a criminal offence against the federal or state laws. E.g Bribery and Corruption.
4. The SSS takes their time to actually screen these clowns before confirmation of their appointments. This simply means their actions and inactions can be a threat to national security. If SSS screens them, why can't they be arrested by the same SSS?
In view of the above, the propaganda of tyranny and subversion of the rule of law, being propagated against this government by the wailing dundees, is a deliberate attempt to gag the present government from performing her constitutional duties. It is also a way of meeting up with their ever unendind wailing demand since the disgrace of an incumbent president loosing to the opposition.
Are u a Dundee? Anyone who reads this will know how ignorant you are. You ain't aware of the fact that the crime of corruption is under the enforcement auspices of the ICPC or the EFCC? Or that the DSS or the SSS is charged with offences affecting internal security and like crimes? I won't be surprised if you think that the police can wake up one morning to effect an arrest on another by breaking into his apartment even when such a person is not in absentia or that an arrest entails forcefully dragging a person into a person into police custody. Boy, Due Process is more than that. Due process is following the law, not just the constitution but such other laws blessed by it with enforceable authority. Besides, you don't just arrest with or without a warrant {which funny enough is given by a judge}, you also must have the authority to arrest. Again, the SSS does not screen judges and justices, it is done by the NJC and such body reserves the displinary powers over such officers. Reread your constitution and Acts, before coming to make nasty comments. |

That group is very stupid.
How did they ascertain the veracity of such tale by the DSS? All these membership hunts in the name of rational public opinion.
They won't ask the SSS to lead concrete evidence instead they'll want to make what is black look like white. |

TheRealestGuy: The bolded is very untrue.
The law us subject to the people's will... Now and always... Are you kidding? You should peruse the EFCC Act, the ICPC Act, the Money Laundering Act et al |

TheRealestGuy: Chill...
When you keep doing the same thing without success and you don't think of changing something, then it's madness.
This is an ingenious, albeit controversial suggestion... But there's a sense in it...
Drastic times call for drastic measures...and drastic measures are also backed by the 'Law'...
Laws are not cast in stone...if you get me... Should the FG take such measures today and risk the future?? Does he understand what he's requesting? That the looters be embraced under the facade of an amnesty programme, when the law is clear and immovable as the rock of Mt. Sinai. Have a rethink! How is he even sure that the so-called polithieves will return the money. Besides, that medium through which these hoodlums will be caught will also show what asset(s) they stole, so what's the need? The FG should seize and confiscate whatever asset it is, return them to the coffers and prosecute the thieves. There should be no peace for the wicked!! |

I thought looting constitutes a crime; well, if what he wants is pardon, then other convicts of non-economic crimes should be pardoned since their effect isn't colossal. |
