Politics / Re: Rotimi Amaechi To Become Buhari's Campaign DG - Dele Momodu by Phantomine(m): 12:25pm On Dec 18, 2014
cramjones:
In our meeting, all the governors wanted Amaechi as vice. We had settled for him when we left. However, Tinubu wanted to be the VP, but most people were opposed to it, at the end we decided to pick Prof, since Tinubu insisted on a South West candidate. We hope that Amaechi's role as campaign DG will win us at least 25% of votes from the SE and SS. Meanwhile, those that have to play their cards better in the Nigerian political space are the Igbos.

The Yoruba's have gotten more out of Nigeria that our SE brothers ! They play smart politics , choose when to ally with the center and when to oppose it smartly NOT based of prejudice and bigotry! This way , they gain while some other folks hold on to a frankly delusional dislike for another group and consistently outdo themselves! If you want to sink with GEJ an incompetent man because you want to use him to "deny" the North power, by all means do so, but remember that you also push power further away from yourself because YOU NEED ALLIANCES (even if it is with your perceived enemies) to ever get to power! When I look West or North, I don't see the SE forming any alliances , hence I can confidently conclude that they have miscalculated again! Would you guys go and hang yourselves in 2019 when PDP rotates power to the North and your much hated Hausa-fulani muslim northerner becomes president ? Would you then run to the SW and say let's oppose them? Tinubu is a brilliant politician , he probably distrusts the North more than you do, but he understand that ALLIANCES rather than bigotry is the route to power in a country with major ethnic groups and power blocks! Give or take power will certainly reach the SW AGAIN before the SE , bc APC or PDP understands that they need this block! Okorocha understands this, and I am sure many pragmatic Igbos felt proud of him when he mounted the podium at the APC convention to add an Igbo voice to what has become A NATIONAL CRY FOR CHANGE! you cannot as a result of unfounded bigotry hold the whole nation back! It is not a good reason to do so! Reminds me of the biblical "fake mother " who asked Solomon that the baby which was not hers be divided! ! This is what you guys did in 2011 and are doing now ! You will sacrifice Nigeria on the platter of bigotry and hatred if even it destroys you? How can you hate another , more than you love yourself ? I say rethink your motivations, I would respect whoever you choose to support as long as it is bc of his competence or lack of it , but to hate a pleural entity "Hausa-fulani muslim north? Is silly and won't get you anywhere!

-CramJones

Exactly what I've bn thinking in the last two weeks. I think the south East is still being blinded by Biafranism and being held in d throes of hatred and bitterness, not only for the North but also for the South West. Until the leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo change its mindset, an Igbo presidency is still faraway.
Politics / Re: BREAKING: Osinbajo Emerges As Buhari VP - DailyTimes by Phantomine(m): 9:32pm On Dec 15, 2014
Lafem:
The APC Presidential flag-bearer has finally put an end to speculations on who becomes his Vice with the adoption of Yemi Osibanjo as his running mate ahead of other candidates thrown up for the position like Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State.

...Details later.

Culled from: http://www.dailytimes.com.ng/article/breaking-buhari-picks-osibanjo-running-mate

I think this is APC's masterstroke! The best choice Tinubu can make. For those of you who didn't know Yemi Osinbajo, here is his CV and the political calculation that won him the VP ticket.

(1) Yemi Osibanjo, is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a Senior Partner in
the Law firm of Simmons Cooper Partners. He is a Nigerian professor of Public law, former Solicitor General and Antorney-General of Lagos State, Nigeria during Tinubu's administration. He was rumoured to have owed his nomination into Tinubu's cabinet to RCCG church by Pastor Adeboye.

(2) He is currently senior pastor in RCCG and one of the right hand men of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye. He's been a member of his official entourage for years now and he was Tinubu's pick for the proposed merger between ACN& CPC in 2011 b4 d merger crumbled. The proposed merger crumbled because Buhari refused to substitute Pst. Tunde Bakare (who was already his VP candidate) for Osinbajo (Tinubu's candidate). Tinubu's camp felt CPC can't have both d president and VP slot to themselves and still be talking merger. Hence Tinubu was rumoured to have struck a secret a secret pact with Jonathan that saw SW vote diverted to PDP. And pls note few days after d alliance deal collapsed; either by co-incidence or delibrate political power play, Jonathan appeared at Redemption Camp and Pastor Adeboye wittingly or unwittingly endorsed GEJ by laying his hand on him in that popular 'photo op' that spread like wildfire in 2011. It was there at the redemption camp that night that the Presidency was won and the king was crowned. Believe it or not that photo of GEJ kneeling down and Baba Adegboye laying hands on him swung d vote of the christian community for GEJ. Either by ommission or commission d rumour spread like wild-fire thereafter that GEJ was God's choice, cest-fini! Buhari's fate was doomed.

Now let's analysis this scenerio with the emergence of Akinwunmi Ambode another RCCG member as APC's gubernatorial candidate for 2015. It was rumoured as far back as four years ago; immediately after Fashola's 2nd term victory that CAN (Christian Association of Nigeria) will no longer back a muslim candidate after the tenure of Fashola. It was reported (either rightly or wrongly) that Tinubu personally assured Pst. Adeboye that he will make sure his next candidate would be a christian. The news circulated for months and years leading to the APC gubernatorial primaries. A year b4, all eyes began to turn towards a certain Akinwunmi Ambode, an RCCG member and a cabinet member of Fashola's APC goverment. It was further rumoured that Tinubu was said to have told Baba Adegboye that " Why look further for a Christian candidate when I have your son Akinwunmi Ambode a member of your church in Fashola's cabinet? We can make him d Governor." True or false as d rumour is, few months later that young man; Akinwunmi Ambode emerged APC's gubernatorial candidate and Tinubu went to great extent to virtually installed him against Fashola's choice of Hamzat.

Now, how does this affect 2015 election? The king will surely be crowned in RCCG for sure. Tinubu has given RCCG and Pst Adeboye a Governorship candidate and a VP candidate for sure and that rightly nullify PDP's propaganda that APC is an Islamic party and also wipes Buhari's image as an Islamic fundamentalist. Don't be so naïve either to think RCCG will be neutral in dis battle. Baba Adeboye and RCCG will not abandon his own men particular his right hand man and protege Pastor Osinbajo for a certain Goodluck Ebele Joe. If there's one man who might likely get d hand laying 'photo op' endorsement this year at redemption camp, it is not likely to be Goodluck Ebele Joe, neither is it Buhari because he won't likely be there in d first place because it is akin to expecting OBJ or GEJ going to kneels before A NAFSAT imam for a Islamic endorsement. I think the man for this 'photo op' would be Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, afterall it is as routine for Baba as praying for our RCCG son and fellow RCCG pastor who is contesting the 2015 election. That tells u GEJ won't get that 'photo op' endorsement this year cos he won't be welcome in RCCG.

Now RCCG's membership and followership cuts across over 10 million followers, also extending beyond it's territory into other churches. That is very huge number. Whoever Baba Adeboye endorses is always seen as God's choice by many even outside his church. Non will be willing to argue with it. The damage that will do to GEJ and PDP's unwritten propaganda posturing as a christian party will be huge! GEJ religious card is bound to crumble here as Tinubu has just struck a masterstroke in Osinbajo as Buhari's VP. Osinbajo's choice has just cut GEJ's votes in all geographical zones where RCCG has membership and that includes South South. An Amaechi or Oshiomole VP ticket will only dent GEJ's voting prospect in Edo or river but majority south southerner will still go with GEJ and see Amaechi especially as betrayer.

Tinubu's masterstroke is spotting d need to cultivate d Christian vote for Buhari rather than be fixated with winning Amaechi's 2 million vote in Rivers nor Oshiomole paltry vote from Edo. With Osinbajo and RCCG more than 70% of d Christian vote will be secured and lock up in South West. Passable Christian votes in South South and South East will be added to Amaechi's vote that will still come in from Rivers (only that RCCG membership vote will now boost his efforts d more in terms of numbers ). Same applies to Oshiomole's territory.

Now this are clearly the permutations that saw to the emergence of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as Buhari's VP.

I can't believe this level of ethnic bigotry in a 21st century south westerner. Must ur tribe be on a voting ticket b4 u vote? And wat does that adds to u even if they get there? OBJ was there for eight years; does that gives u free education or 24hrs electricity in d south west or was d road to ur streets or town more smoother? Gawd! This stinks to high heavens! Ain't we soppose to be tired of all these ethnic presidents? What else do we get apart from d bragging right that our son is on the ticket and a few criminals will benefit from looting d treasury blind. It amazes me how some clueless Nigerians nowadays now limits Politics to the level of Chelsea vs Manchester United.

"We will resort to civil disobedience and form a parallel government if we lose the prediential election." - Amaechi

APC aint serious at all...

That's not true! He never said that. That's blackmail and forgery; a popular past time of pdp and its otueke 'tomtom' followers.
What he said was "We will resort to civil disobedience and form a parallel government if the prediential election is rigged." - Amaechi

And civil disobedience is a legitimate weapon in democracy. Check out American history. Any power outside the will of the people is an illegitimate power that can be subdued by civil disobedience. Adams Oshiomole did it severally with OBJ and Obasanjo was forced to buckle down on his anti-people policies.

Celebrities / Re: Comparism Between Patience Jonathan And Aisha Buhari by Phantomine(m): 10:42am On Dec 12, 2014
Laredojohn:
Biography isn't a real way to choose performance. So the question of who to chose is in material, they are not to rule but their husbands, Patience Jonathan might not speak well, that does not mean she will not perform, likewise the beauty or good oratory or Mrs Buhari does not qualify her for performance.

Perform? Sowie but that is a clueless statement. Who voted them for what performance, in what constituentional role? Their only expected performance is to be good wives to their husbands. But in other words, what we are saying here is who is more presentable to the world as the wife of our president? Patience JEG or Aisha Buhari? Even a monkey in the forest knows which of the two would make more sense.

It's a real shame! What kind of change does Atiku want to effect now? That means OBJ was very right with his allegation in his recent book that Atiku began the corrupting of the Nigerian senate in 1999 with $5,000. undecided

Great Job Chidnho10, a journey of a thousand miles starts in a day. Well done! Yes, you need to take an English test. Most employer requests that freelancers take that exam before bidding on their job.

It's funny; I opened an account with freelancer over 5 days ago and I've not received any mail or prompt to take any test. Is this unusual?

You can try Elance and Odesk. But all in all, I advise people not to stay long on these freelancing websites. They are launching pads, not a permanent office. I will advise you to learn other skills like research and e-book writing. That way you can make quick bucks and move on. You can write e-books and sell it on Amazon Kindle. It will give you a residual income on monthly basis ( I run a course on it). There are so many businesses you can do online. Take your time to learn all you can while writing articles, then move ahead to establish yourself.

@Ladywriter, I'm quiet glad u mentioned Amazon kindle. I've bn quietly taking my time to follow from page 1. It's quite tasky tho, considering I only discovered this thread 5 days go. I've been copying every meaningful write post here and filing them aware so I can take a day off and go over d whole stuff again for maximum result. My Freelance account is up already and I've likewise registered with payoneer. I also discovered a thread on naira land talking abt Amazon kindle and I had a promonition that half of the jobs coming through Freelancer might be going on sale on Amazon kindle. It seems to me both are innevitably interlinked.
As a prolific writer of over 20 years of experience writing for local and a couple of international magazine; plus a profile of over 18 Nigerian movies; Amazon kindle seems to appeal to me more because of the residual prospect, but then I feel it might just be better to start off with Freelancer for experential development.
Now I have these question for you;

(1) Is it possible to combine both Freelancer & Amazon kindle considering the possible work load & deadline for both.

(2) Don't u think it's far more lucrative to take time out to learn the art and start producing my own e-books on Kindle than spending the same time to research and write an e-book for a client on freelancer.

(3) Is it possible I get a sample of ur research work? So, I can have an idea how a research work is expected to be written.

Pls note, I'm only 35yrs old and I only started writing professional at age 15, hence I feel I stand a great chance at excelling on both platforms.
I wish you can further show me which areas of specialization my experience can come in handy on both platforms.
Thank you.

Nairaland / General / Re: My Experience With Racists. by Phantomine(m): 2:02pm On Nov 30, 2014
Amefrica:
Hi guys, due to what's going on in our world at the moment, I think it's hightime we started loving each other. I had an encounter with racist people some weeks ago..

My flatmate (a Nigerian) and I went to the mall about some weeks ago to get our winter clothings and all, after we got all paid, we went to the bus-stand to wait for the bus - we got to the stand and met a Canadian man probably in his mid to late forties waiting for the bus too, I said "Hello, how you doing today? Nice weather, isn't it?" The man just bone face, he didn't even answer, my flatmate looked at me and we just acted like it didn't happen.

What he did next was something that irritated me. Immediately he packed his bags and went to the stand opposite us to meet a Canadian woman sitting down too, we didn't give 2 hoots until they started saying some things we couldn't hear, laughing uncontrollably and pointing fingers right at us. My mate got infuriated and wanted to confront them I calmed him down, that they were just ignorant. Few minutes later, the bus came they got on the bus, me and my mate intentionally sat next to them, lo and behold they stood up and went way back to the end of the bus. I was just shaking my head!

For real, racism has got to stop. You have different wardrobes of many colours, can't God have humans with different colours too?

Tho, I've met so many respectful, kind, nice people here. When I told my female bestfriend who is a Canadian too, she asked me to describe them, that she wants to kick their a'ss, I just told her not to worry. I really wish racism could end for good. We have to learn to live and tolerate each other, irrespective of race, religion etc..

I still don't get it how racism bothers people! undecided How can I be bothered abt other people's ignorance? The fact that you were infuriated seems to me as if you treasured his approval of who you are. Racism to me is effectively the same as Tribalism; which we Nigerians face and dishes out to each other everyday. An average Nigerian sees that Igbo boy as 'Nna boy' or 'Yanmirin' and he calmly faces this everyday on the streets of Lagos without even giving a hoot. Same with the average Yoruba boy deridely called an 'Yoruba boy' on the streets of Aba or Enugu, or do we start mentioning the several derogatory names an average Hausa is called all across Nigeria. All na all, tribalism is effectively another form of racism. If u can ignore the rubbish here in Naija, u can effectively ignore it there in Canada. You don't need a white man's approval of who you are. Learn from Dani Alves of Barca; they threw him a banana at the corner flag to taunt his race, he calmly bent down; pick up the banana and ate it in d face of their ignorance while he promptly took the corner kick that eventually led to a goal. They never threw another banana again. grin

I haven't seen anyone who spoke well abt it who didn't get his hand burnt at last. It's like a Karma waiting to happen. I have been making money online writing/researching online for the past two years now. I got my first writing job here on Nairaland with a content writing firm in Lagos. I worked for a few month with the company and then moved to www.freelancer.com. Freelancer.com is authentic and most importantly it is free. You can receive your income directly in Nigeria through a master card issued by a company known as payoneer.

Freelancer.com
Freelancer.com is an online marketplace where employers post their jobs and members executes it. There a lot of jobs available on the website - such as writing/data entry/research/ typing/web design/social media marketing/market research/business plan writing etc.

What is required:
1. Open a free account on freelancer.com
2. Search for jobs in the marketplace
3. Place your bids
4. Get picked by the employer
5. Get paid
6. Withdraw your income into payoneer card (Please do not use Paypal, as it is not yet legal to withdraw into Paypal acct, you can only use it to make payment online for now). Payoneer card is better and safe).
7. Withdraw your money from any mastercard ATM in Nigeria.

If you have questions get in touch with me on virtualassistprof@gmail.com

I have this few knotty question for you. (1) What's a payoneer card (2) How do I get one (3) I currently have an ATM Mastercard with 1st bank, is this applicable for this purpose? And (4) if it is applicable, how do I transfer from a payoneer card to my 1st Bank ATM Mastercard?

It's too late for Jonathan to start regreting. It's obvious he is losing in 2015. He even knows it. Is there any problem among the Yoruba people? Why this gathering on unity? What kind of gathering of traditional Yoruba rulers you only find the Ooni of Ife and the Owo Ibokun of Ijeshaland as the only prominent? Where are the Alaafin of Oyo, the Oba of Lagos, the Olubadan of Ibadan, the Awujale of Ijebu, the Alake of Egba, the Soun of Ogbomosho, the Osamawe of Ondo, the Deji of Akure, the Akran of Badagry, etc? How come the Ataoja of Oshogbo in Osun State was not present?

I was abt to say the same thing too. This is only a motley of few GEJ yoruba supporters and not the cream de la cream of Yoruba leaders. Those present cannot even guarrantee him a paltry 100,000 votes among themselves. Imagine that corporate fraud, Jimoh Ibrahim claiming to be a Yoruba leader and promising GEJ 7 million votes from southwest. He go try well, well! undecided

This already a bad situation. I hope the emir of Kano is not caught in the fray? If he dies in this, the whole northern nigeria will soon go up in flames and either way; there won't be any excuse for JEG. It's either the north sees him as the direct culprit or they see him as damn right incompetent leader. Whichever way it goes JEG might turn out the fall guy. Let's just pray that the Emir Sanusi Lamido is alive.
