Dont mind them, a religion that does not tolerate criticism. Even on nairaland here, they dont allow Christians to comment on their thread, but see them flocking here like bees posting quran citations. Mtchhhew

oga op what u r saying is true and we have to work on these issues. but this doesn't at all mean that other religions are better than Christianity. islam has its own issues too. what of sunni muslims slaughtering shia Muslims and referring to them as infidels or terrorists committing murder in the name of allah? let me tell u no human being is perfect. we all prayy for grace to be more like him. even though many Christians are hypocrites in Nigeria, i will point to u a large number of true Christians out there. so op relax. what we need to do is to pray for more grace to be more like him.

lordjude:
When you see the list of expected complex functions for an entry level position, as compared to the basic school curriculum, why #some graduates are unemployable is not quite far fetched. Also, when most firms want to do back door recruitment via, collecting CVs from backyard sources, people who don't even want the job, but had people of influence apply on their behalf, thus breeding nonchalance; they cause problems, get fired; then these sloppy firms come out to make general and fallacious statements bothering on the entire mass, instead of admitting their flaws. A flawed recruitment process will bequeath flawed employees /interns; likewise a poor academic system. The things being taught in school are mostly irrelevant to the work place. In Nigeria we are only schooling, we are not getting any education.
u too correct sir. Nigerian recruitment process is 200% flawed.

Lol. I own my business and employ people. I was being too harsh maybe. Not all graduates are unemployable, but I see many who are not and they far outnumber those who are employable. Yes, connections can be a criteria especially in the case of government jobs. I know some employers can make their criteria very difficult, but the criteria i set for most applicants i interview is the ability to write and speak good english, and a lot of graduates fail that. Of course they are not first class graduates, but i see graduates with 2-1 who do not speak or write very well. That is just my opinion bro and you are entitled to yours as well.
sorry that i was too hard on u. congrats that u run ur own show. that's something i want to do soonest. im not saying all nigerian graduates are employable but that doesn't mean that there arent Nigerian graduates that aren't competent. a Nigerian bank once posted a vacancy and said they need pple who have msc from British universities. smh for most Nigerian companies and recruiters.

There are jobs. Just no employable graduates. If you interview applicants, you will understand what am saying. The issue is not skill anymore. It is the simple ability to read, write and speak english fluently and the ability to do simple arithmetic. Most graduates simply cannot
Nigerian graduates are unemployable iz a bloody excuse. any recruiter who says so should not be in the process of recruitment. number one evidence is asking for first class and 2-1. any recruiter with common sense will know that it is not by certificate but by real world competency. furthermore some interviewers tend to be very unrealistic in the criteria. most of them are looking for messiah like someone said earlier. i once went for a sales interview and the person said that i have to perform in less than three months or get fired. i was tempted to ask her if money grows on trees. ok @op and others who support "nigerian graduates are unemployable" why is it that after 3 months i am yet to receive my offer letter from a reputable bank after going through all stages of the recruitment process? rubbish. I'm sure ure one of those lucky graduates who was lucky enough to get a job probably through connections abd have not the slightest idea of what is happening in the real world. smh.

this Henry boyo na winsh. him and soludo too get brain. this man has said it all. devaluation can not solve this problem. our problem is a structural and fundamental one. those campaigning for devaluation are sent from the pit of hell. the only thing that can save us now is a simultaneous five pronged approach. rapid import substitution to conserve our scarce dollars, rapid export promotion and increase to increase our fx earnings , rapid infrastructure development to bring about industrialization and a total overhaul of the monetary system and model used to run the economy and lastly bring our refineries to full working capacity so as to stop the massive drain on our fx due to petroleum products imports. anytime from now fuel might start to be scarce again because of non payment due to the govt being almost broke. the cbn governor needs to be fired. we need a real economist not a former chief executive money chaser. the people occupying the offices of the president governor of the cbn the minister of finance minister of power works and housing minister of petroleum are the most important people in this administration. they need our cooperation support amd prayers.

grandstar:
Buy made in Nigeria policies don't work.

Nigeria's problem is that it does not export. The present crisis was caused by a collapse in export earning due to the huge fall in crude oil prices.

Only increase in forex earnings will rescue the situation.

Import substituition or bans have failed to industrialise the country.
buy naija is one aspect of the solution to our problem. we need a two prong approach. import substitution to reduce the rate at which we consume our dollar combined with increased exports brought about by infrastructural development research and development. its a two pronged approach.

My point is that rationing is the wrong way to allocate the forex, as letting the Naira float will allow the market to do a better job. Those who need the forex will be willing to pay the most for it, rather than some civil servant or politician in Abuja deciding what is "essential" and what isn't.
oga if ure advocating free float then u better make sure that those that are willing to pay most of it are not manufacturers of essential products who need to import raw materials which is wat is happening now. ure assuming that its only importers of luxury items who need dollars. what of the likes of Honeywell dangote and golden penny who need to import wheat? or tomato paste companies that have to import concentrate? if they have to get it at free float price then ur argument is defeated.

how will u be advocating imports for tourism based or related industries? be sincere to urself how much does tourism contribute? oga our economic policy and other policies right now should be manufacturing centered Because that is our only salvation from this quick sand that is about to swallow us whole. guy think!

just like wat u said let the govt quickly set up tomato processing plants corn starch production plants dextrose and foil production plants by themselves immediately to ensure output is not delayed.

I worked in a company packing tomato paste and i discovered that all the arguement above are all correct from where ever
perspective you are looking at it. during a meeting with my chairman i discovered that virtually most of the manufacturers in nigeria imports all the raw materials used . for example in case of tomato,concentrate,foil,dextrin/corn starch, cartons are all imported directly or indirectly, the only additive that is not imported is salt
Then with these new restrictions many companies will definitely shut down as cost of buying raw material is higher . In my candid opinion i think the govt should revisit the devaluation as prices will keep flying, as at this morning a bag of pure water already above N100 maybe when its 200 or 20/sachet then we know there is crises
minimum wages in some states are well below N18000, how will average nigerian survive

God Bless NIGERIA
the federal government needs to meet with local manufacturers and immediately find out whatever raw materials they import and quickly set up factories to produce those same raw materials asap as in with highest priority and favorable credit facilities.
