Imagine for a split second if Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was one of those docile, inconsiderate and anti-people leaders, Oil Mining License (OML) 25 would still be shutdown. If Governor Wike was one of the leaders that could be intimidated by lies, negative propaganda and false paid advertorials/radio programmes, the nation's economy would still be bleeding endlessly from lost revenue.


Thank God Wike "get morale". He has the staying power and courage to withstand the enemies of Rivers State and Nigeria. He is a man of vision with the capacity to ensure the state's goals are achieved.

It was on June 22, 2019 that Governor Wike set the ball rolling for the re-opening of OML 25. Before this historic date, NNPC, the Federal Government and the security agencies made no attempt to re-open the facility. Till date, no explanation has been given for this inaction.

From June 22, 2019, Governor Wike set in motion all the platforms for negotiation, public discourse, social and economic engagements on the re-opening of OML 25. This was the first courageous move to empower all stakeholders for the good of the country.




The meeting in question had in attendance Shell Petroleum Development Company, the host communities of OML 25, security agencies and Belema Oil. This meeting laid out the template for the resolution of outstanding grievances.

On June 27, 2019 , Stakeholder communities of Oil Mining License (OML) 25 in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State and Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) agreed on the procedures for the re-opening of the oil facility during a meeting facilitated by Governor Wike at the Government House Port Harcourt.

Memorandum of Understanding was signed and the modalities for the release of intervention funds were agreed upon.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that all Nigerians irrespective of political affiliation must rise up to sack the most inefficient Federal Government since the country gained independence.



Addressing journalists after a Thank You Visit by the PDP Presidential Candidate and Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at the Government House Port Harcourt on Sunday Evening, Governor Wike said that all PDP leaders and well-meaning Nigerians have a duty to form a united front to sack the failed APC Federal Government.

He said though different party leaders supported different aspirants, with the emergence of Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party's Presidential Candidate, all hands must be on deck for the good of the country.

The governor said: "We have no party that will salvage the country other than the PDP. A candidate has emerged and we owe it a duty to see that the party takes over from the most inefficient and ineffective party in control of the FG.

"We are one family. You may support aspirant A or B, but once a candidate emerges , you owe it a duty to make sure your party returns to power.

"We are doing everything we can to ensure that we don't give APC any gap. They have failed Nigerians and we will take over in 2019".

He said that the successful hosting of the National Convention in Port Harcourt has once again shown that Port Harcourt is a peaceful location for national events.

"My happiness today is that the convention was successful and it went on without hitches", he said.

In his remarks, PDP Presidential Candidate and Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said that the entire country must work towards ending the failed APC Federal Government in 2019.

He said: "The entire country needs a new government. Definitely, we don't need APC to return to power in 2019".

He said the country has gone through challenges ranging from recession, unemployment, insecurity and lack of unity. He said the country needs to chart a new direction in the interest of the people.

Atiku said that it is time for the people of Rivers State to consolidate their support for the PDP in the state.

He said: "I came to personally congratulate the Governor, people and Government of Rivers State and also thank him for hosting a most successful convention ".

Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared the State’s government readiness to work with the internationally recognized musician, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo Dbanj to create opportunities for young musicians in the state.
Speaking during a visit by Dbanj at the Government House Port Harcourt on Monday, Governor Wike said that part of the problems that musicians in the state have is the lack of opportunity to shine at the international stage.
Wike said that the State Government is working with different international musicians and producers to resolve the challenge of lack of opportunities.
“We as a government will not fail to partner with you in which ever form that will help to empower the youths in the state.
“Part of the problems we have in this part of the world is the opportunities that our youths lack. Our youths don’t have the opportunities to showcase their potentials”, he said.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank you for what you are doing to empower the youths. So many have had the opportunity you have, but may not have used it to empower the youths.
“What you are doing is commendable and I urge you to continue “, Governor Wike said.
Wike noted that the State Government has developed one of the best cultural centres in the country, pointing out that the State Government will want to collaborate with Dbanj for a bi-monthly hosting of musical shows at the facility.
Dbanj said that he runs the CREAM music platform designed specifically to empower the youths and give them opportunities. He offered to partner with the Rivers State Government on talent development.

The National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners NANTMP, Rivers State Chapter, has declared its readiness to fight quacks and illegal practices in the profession.

The Chairman of the Association in Rivers State Nyefibo Nyefibo while disclosing this to our correspondent said that the body will soon set-up a task force to checkmate the excesses of these illegal operators in the state.
Nyefibo Nyefibo noted that the association is poised to sanitize the traditional medical profession in Rivers State stressing that the sector has been hijacked by marketers who are now parading themselves as traditional medicine practitioners.
He stated that the move is to ensure the safety of the herbal drugs in circulation in Rivers State and also to create awareness on the best way of practising traditional medicine practice.
”A lot of people are doing it the wrong way. You can go to the streets of Port Harcourt, all nooks and corner, you can see one form of traditional medicine practice on the other which we kick against and we are doing everything possible within our power to see that we curb this menace in Rivers State” he said
”We have put a lot of mechanism in place to checkmate the excessive of the wrong practice in Rivers State. In fact, any moment from now, a task force will be on who will be going after these people to make sure they are brought to book” he noted.
Nyefibo also assured Rivers people of the Genuity of herbal drugs because they are registered with NAFDAC.
He also advised the public to always source their herbal drugs by going to the offices of genuine traditional medicine practitioners and not inside a bus or open marketplace.
Nyefibo Nyefibo added that the traditional medicine practitioners will continue to produce quality drugs that will be very useful in eliminating different diseases in the country.

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested an Air Force personnel and 34 others suspected to be involved in kidnapping, armed robbery and cultism in the state.


The Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, paraded the suspects at the command’s headquarters, Moscow Road, port harcourt, on Wednesday. He disclosed that the hoodlums were arrested at different locations in the state, following tip off to the command.

According to the police boss, 11 of the suspects were arrested for kidnapping, 14 for armed robbery and three for cultism. One of the kidnap suspects was identified as Wisdom Tennyson, an Air Force officer attached to 407 Air Combat Training Group, Kainji.

The suspect was arrested at a guesthouse, off Bitter Leaf Road, Trans-Amadi, after abducting and raping the victim. Also paraded were Kingsley Nwala, Godbless Ogue and Chukwudi Achor, who confessed to have been the killers of an operative of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS), Inspector Ada Uche, attached to Etche office of outfit. The state police boss warned criminals to “repent, relocate or face justice”, adding that it has not been easy to keep faith to the position, in battling hoodlums in Rivers.

A gang of three have ensnared and shot dead popular Port Harcourt, Rivers state black market Bureau De Change operator simply identified as Alhaji Yusuf.


Yusuf had barely seated at a relaxation spot where he unwind near his Oroazi Road residence after trading Naira for hard currencies among other competitors at the popular Port Harcourt GRA exchange hub when the gunmen entrapped and shot him thrice to the head and abdomen before leaving with his bag suspected to be bearing his day’s sales.


The gunmen believed to have trailed him from his business point also killed, on the spot, two associates of the target victim who were with him, the incident happening at about 10pm Wednesday.


Incidentally, the three gunmen killed the trio with impunity

A witness told Vanguard, “The killers finished Alhaji and two of his brothers and strolled pass the Big Three Junction. We (jolted Oroazi youths) approached the Safet Highways Police to confront them.


“They told us they don’t have the time to pursue them, that we civilians should rather pursue, capture and surrender the gunmen to them (police).

Three days after a passenger boat capsized in Bakana, in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, sweeping away six out of 25 persons on board, the body of one of the victims has been found.



It was gathered that the corpse was buried in the early hours of Monday by the bank of the river.

The victim, who was identified as Timothy from Bakana, and his sister were going home when the boat accident occurred.

It was gathered that Bakana youths had been making efforts to recover the remains of persons swept away by the river.

The passenger boat had on Saturday capsized as it was moving from Abonnema Wharf to Bakana, even as 16 persons were said to have been rescued.

The Rivers State Police Command said it has arrested 11 suspected kidnappers, robbers and recovered over 1,000 firearms and 15 vehicles at different locations in the State.

The suspects were Tony Raphael, Ifeanyi Okoye, 42, Chigozie Onirigbo, 28, Emeka Nwaiwu, 37, Chinedu Isia, 32, Clark Sunday, 23, Reward Womuru, Ernest Wali, Ekaenemerem Onyebueyi Onyebueyi, Andrew Atuse (fake corporal) and Uche Ani (an ex-convict).


State Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, disclosed this, on Tuesday, when he paraded the hoodlums, who were arrested by operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS), at the command’s headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

Ahmed said the feat was recorded by the command recently, following the directive of the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris, to mop up illegally acquired firearms in the country and resolve to rid the State of criminal elements.
According to him, the suspects usually operated in Police Van, wore black Jean trousers and T-shirts in Police colours, with Ford Van in Police colour, bearing revolving light.

He said the bandits had confessed to the crime and admitted that they were responsible for several kidnap and robbery operations that took place in Port Harcourt and its environs late 2017, till the time of their arrest this July.

The State Police boss also said that the aggressive sensitization campaigns on fighting crime, which was taken to churches, had yielded a positive result, with some dreaded cultists denouncing their membership and embracing God.
Ahmed noted that the Salvation Ministries took the campaign to the creeks, where suspected cultists willingly surrendered their arms and ammunition, and urged organisations and members of the public to sustain the existing synergy between them and Police.

He assured, “I want to reaffirm our commitment to the fight against crime and criminality in the State and further appeal to the good people of the State to continue to support the Police in our bid to rid the State of all criminal elements”.

I demanded to be arrested and taken to the station for our so-called offenses to be properly documented and treated...of course they vociferously, almost violently and shamelessly refused…they instead demanded ridiculous sums of money from me for my brother to be released.

Yesterday the students of Federal College of Education had a peaceful protest but the local vigilante (OSPAC) members brought that to an end by flogging some students and threatening others. An alarm was raised by a Facebook user and after much enquiries it was gathered that it was true and that the local vigilante is the most feared group in the Local Government Area.

Efforts to poison Rivers people suffered setback, following the arrest of over 20 Northern youths who smuggled over 50 cows 27 recorded dead with a truck with registration numberRGM 104 XA), through Adamawa, Okigwe routes to Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State yesterday.


Hon. Engr Samuel Nwanosike JP, the Executive chairman, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, who swim into action by contacting Igwuruta Division of Nigerian police for immediate arrest and investigation.


Hon. Nwanosike also, contacted Dr. Ekanam, Director Primary Health Care and Dr. Joy Wohioka, who is in charge of Health Care, Ikwerre Local government area of the state, to join force with the police for proper investigation.

The ugly development have infused palpable fear on the residents of the LGA
Numerous Kelga residents who spoke off camera, was of the opinion that the development have political under tune, therefore call on the government not to sweep the investigation under the carpet.


It was revealed that over four cows among the dead had been distributed and sold for public consumption before the arrival of security agents.

A notorious cultist and his gang members who have been accused of disturbing the Eleme axis of Rivers State were shot dead today.

Those killed include Joe Mba (aka SK or Mba boy, Teetito Frank( aka obele), Teetito Godwin( aka coachy boy) and Gift Paul.

Four high tide company workers have been confirmed dead after a steam ship (steamer) exploded in their Abuloma Yard.




It was gathered that the death of these individuals came as a result of the company’s carelessness and lack of compliance to safety procedures.


The said steamer was brought for maintenance and safety procedures were not followed during this course and the company was accused of not putting any in place.


Amongst the four individuals is a well known man identified as Isoboye Gudi.



May their gentle souls Rest In Peace.
