Family / Re: Should I Have Collected The Bread From Her Mother? by phemmyfour: 2:28pm On Nov 20, 2023
PuZZyNegro:
I traveled from Lagos to Port Harcourt to see my future in laws family. My girl wasn't around as she's still in Lagos schooling.

I went there with a family member and got them some items like shortcake biscuits and juice.

They offered us food and we ate. After the meeting and normal questioning, we were set to go when surprisingly, this people brought out two loaves of bread and gave us. I told them that the food we ate was enough, that we don't need the bread.

We haven't even gone far when my girl started texting me on WhatsApp angrily asking me why I rejected her mother's gift. That she gave it out of love, this and that.

I told her that bread is the wrongest gift the mother could give me. I am supposed to buy them bread and not the one way round. I intentionally refused to buy bread for them because I assumed bread is an everyday food that people buy and eat, so I decided to go with the package biscuits instead and here they are offering me bread.

If it were something produced locally by them like coconut or something, I can understand but bread?

Please, did I do anything wrong rejecting the bread?
In marriage and life, you have to be diplomatic. Next time, you ll collect and keep except they forced you to eat it right there grin

The yardstick and parameter for measuring how well you are doing at the stage is participating in FIFA competitions no matter how frequent.
How do you justify whatever efforts being put in when you can not even qualify for competitions.
Eskis sir, there is a reason why Nigeria is called the most successful nation at that grade. When things are not going right there, highlighting such will not be out of place.
Wrong
How many u17 did England participate in? How many u17 has Spain won?

These Contries consistently produced qf, sf and final performance at the Senior world cup. The developed their youth through their leagues and other in house competitions, not waiting for fifa U17 every 2yrs

A sane society should be more concerned about it's youth.
If the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do asks the bible?
The U17 and youth grade groups are the bedrock of any footballing nation.
List the achievements of our youth teams and compare it with our achievements at club level. That should be a basis for further argument.
U17 is just one of the programmes, must you wait for FIFA competition every 2yrs to develop your youth? That is why we do not experience true progression

Nigerian football will not move forward UNTIL the day those in NFF glass house are stoned in public.

Fifa U17 is on going, Nigeria is no where to be found.
Must you participate in all u17? You should worry more about your league and senior national team.

England doesn't feature in all u17 but have good senior national team, league and youth development projects

I can agree with anyone's opinion. I don't necessarily have to have my own opinion.

Nigerians don't like to give credit to whom it belongs. It's possible Steve furtick got it from somewhere else, that's not my business. I got it from him and his opinion at that time was definitely better than mine hence why I gave him the credit
You are missing the point. It has nothing to do with giving credit or not.
When it comes to spiritual conviction, how you see things matters so that you don't join the bandwagon of my pastor says, td jake says etc while they are teaching without having any personal conviction.

No one explains it better than Steve furtick.
I love the way he explained the verse with much simplicity and energy.

Thou prepare a table before me. (More like a banquet where foods of different delicacies and drinks are before you)

In the presence of my enemies (not only physical enemies now since our warfare aren't carnal, so the enemies could be physical, spiritual, pyschological etc. It could be sickness, depression, even poverty) also note it's in plural form. So the enemies are numerous.

What do you do when you're facing a lot of enemies or challenges? My Gee, prepare a table and eat.

Can you focus on God even in the presence of your enemies? Can you eat the bountiful fruits and food of the Lord when you're in the presence of your enemies?

For more explanation, I think David was referring to when he was invited to dinner by Jonathan and Saul wanted to kill him. He actually ate in the presence of his enemies.

It's a nice verse and it has wonderful life applications.
Your opinion in your own words, not Steve's is what the OP ask for.

I need an illustration or an example of these passage from bible scholars.

"Psalms 23:5: "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies"
It is an assurance from God that even when you are in problem or facing difficulties, He will be there for you and you ll celebrate even in the presence of those that were expecting you to fail.

Religion / Re: Is It Right For Pastors To Confirm The Right Marriage Partner For A Person? by phemmyfour: 9:04am On Nov 19, 2023
ebubeson:
You may have seen ladies that will vehemently follow their Pastors instructions and opinion concerning marriage. Some may not choose a partner until confirmed by their Pastor.

To what degree is a pastors involvement in choosing a spouse for someone? A pastor can advise someone on the kind of person he or she should marry, a pastor can caution when he notices dangers and red flags, but a pastor should be very careful in saying whom the exact marriage partner is? A potential marriage about to happen can be destroyed by the false visions or wrong revelations of a pastor. Be careful!

Please kindly contribute.
It is wrong, only God have the responsibility to do that. We all know that most of these pastors lie from their past predictions

Family / Re: Help Me, My Younger Brother Is Becoming Extremely Stubborn, & Steals by phemmyfour: 8:52am On Nov 19, 2023
Adasun:
I will try and make this story short and I need your advice please...

I lost my dad March this year... His death was not natural but I won't bore you with details.

We did the burial rights and I move back to school.before I left, I noticed my brother who is 14yrs have this spiritual paranoia...he suspect many who came for condolences as if they were coming to attack...

I calm him down during those period and let him know that nothing is after him or us.

I left, only for my mum to call me that something is not right with my bro... He talks to himself, seems lost sometimes and have little to no regards for anyone.

They have taken him to many spiritual house and they still point to the person responsible for my dad's death- a neighbor.

This boy hates mum for no reason and often said she is not her mother.he sometimes threatened to kidnapped his immediate Younger brother or slap his elder sister.

He becomes aggressive and most painful part of it all right now is that he steal.

Meat, money.he just develop the habit of stealing. I have not visited home since I left but I need your advice. As the first born, I need to take some drastic step.

How do I handle thia?spiritual, psychological and any way possible to retrieve my Lovely lad, such advice is most welcome.

Thanks...
Change two things
His friends
And his environment.

NB: Nothing spiritual is after your family...Africa mentality
