An operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Edward Okeke, is in serious trouble for allegedly assaulting a 19-year-old girl, Blessing Nwokpa, whom he allegedly got pregnant.

In a statement by the of the Legal Aids Council of Nigeria where the girl lodged her complaint, Okeke who works at the Awolowo Road office of the anti-graft agency as an exhibit keeper, had taken advantage of the girl who used to work as a canteen attendant where he used to eat and had sex with her several times, impregnating her in the process.


He was said to have tried several tricks to get her to abort the baby, including giving her the sum of N18,000 to terminate the pregnancy but when she refused, he gave her the beating of her life.

It was gathered that the desperate girl who is now seven-months pregnant, had gone to the EFCC office after Okeke abandoned her to her fate and throwing her out of his house, to ask for money for food and antenatal care but he however, descended on her and was battering her until she collapsed.

It was the intervention of senior officers that saved Nwokpa from further battering, and advised her to seek assistance form the Aids Council.

She allegedly told the Council that her brother brought her to Lagos and she started working as a canteen attendant at the EFCC office, while also sleeping at the canteen pending when her brother would be able to get her an accommodation.

She said that Okeke offered to help her by allowing her to sleep in his house and took the advantage to deflower her and got her pregnant.

The girl said that initially, she did not know she was pregnant but when she started having unusual feelings in her body, she went to a hospital where a pregnancy test was conducted and it proved to be positive.

When she informed Okeke about the result of the test, he became angry and insisted on abortion
