More details of the peaceful battle to restore democracy in The Gambia became known yesterday. After days of stand-off, former President Yahya Jammeh suddenly agreed to quit office, yielding to last-minute pressure from Guinean President Alpha Conde and his Mauritanian counterpart Mohammed Ould Abdel Aziz, who were with him between Friday and Saturday. After agreeing to leave and save The Gambia from a major crisis, Jammeh was confronted by big challenge – how to fly out. The leaders, The Nation learnt, reached out to All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who authorised his private aircraft to be used to fly Jammeh out of Banjul, sources said. Jammeh’s exit paved the way for the return of President Adama Barrow to take office after he was sworn in on Thursday in Dakar, Senegal. Tinubu’s VP-CBT Falcon Jet had been with President Conde, who is a close friend of the leading politician. It was not until late on Saturday night that Jammeh agreed to go. Sources said Tinubu was contacted to allow the use of his jet to fly Jammeh out of Banjul. He reportedly gave a condition: it should only be used “if it will facilitate the quick exit of Jammeh and lead to the restoration of peace and democracy in The Gambia”. The plane eventually flew out with Jammeh, his wife, mother and President Conde on board. Senegal, it was learnt, insisted on knowing those on board before allowing it to overfly its airspace. This wish was granted. Jammeh was flown to Equitorial Guinea where he will be on exile Jammeh arrived at the airport amid a large convoy of vehicles and throngs of cheering supporters. He stood on a small platform to hear ceremonial music performed by a military band and then walked down a long red carpet, surrounded by dignitaries. He climbed the steps to the plane, turned and kissed and waved a Qur’an at those assembled. It was an emotional farewell. Many soldiers, supporters and dignitaries were crying. Others in The Gambia were glad to see the end of a 22-year dictatorship which had little respect for human rights and freedom of speech. http://www.newsscrollngr.com/index.php/k2-home-news/item/7192-tinubu-s-private-plane-flies-jammeh-into-exile |

Vietnamese doctors have removed a pair of scissors left lodged in a man's abdomen for 18 years, it's reported. Specialist surgeons flew from Hanoi to assist at the operation in Thai Nguyen Province in the north of the country. The 54-year-old patient visited the hospital after being involved in a road accident last month, and an ultrasound test seemed to show a sharp instrument lying to the left of his stomach. A second check in a hospital in his nearby home province of Bac Kan removed any doubt - there was a 15cm (6-inch) pair of surgical scissors nestling next to his colon, Tuoi Tre newspaper reports. Ma Van Nhat says they may have been left inside him during a 1998 operation at Bac Kan General Hospital following another road accident, Vietnam Express reports. He had noticed nothing since that time apart from some recent stomach pain, which did not respond to painkillers. The surgeons who carried out the three-hour procedure note the rusty handles of the scissors had become stuck to some nearby organs. The Health Ministry has ordered Bac Kan General Hospital to report on who may have left the scissors in Mr Ma by the end of the week. Hospital Director Trinh Thi Luong says she will do what she can, but doctors told Tuoi Tre that hospitals rarely keep patient records for more than 15 years. As for Mr Ma, he is expected to return home next week http://www.newsscrollngr.com/index.php/k2-strangly/item/6722-doctors-remove-scissors-left-inside-man-s-stomach-after-18-years

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has announced the readiness of his government to offer amnesty to cultists willing to renounce their membership of cult groups and turn over a new leaf. Mr. Ambode, who stated this in Ikorodu at the ongoing One Lagos Fiesta, said his administration has perfected plans to use 2017 to rehabilitate all those involved in one form of criminality or the other and are ready to be law abiding, with the view to making them live normal lives and contribute meaningfully to the society. While noting with concern the rising spate of cultism and other crimes especially in the Ikorodu axis, the governor said though the government has capacity to deal with such crimes, amnesty is being offered to encourage those willing to turn away from their old ways and embrace new lives. “In the last few months, we have been having a lot of challenges with cultism in Ikorodu area and a lot of issues that relate to kidnapping,” Mr. Ambode said. “So, we are going to strike a deal tonight, we are going to say no to cultism and then we are going to encourage all of you. Anybody who is a cult member, we are going to offer you amnesty. I want to use the whole of 2017 to rehabilitate all those who have been doing bad things; we are going to provide money and we are going to provide jobs. “We are going to encourage ourselves; wherever you find somebody that is not doing anything well, you can either tell the monarch here or come to us, we will give you protection; we offer you money and then we are going to offer you automatic jobs. So, we all agree to say no to domestic violence, kidnapping, rape and no to cultism. Once you sign on, we would offer you anything that you want,” Mr. Ambode said. The governor also stressed the importance of education and hard work to the youth, and urged them to strive very hard to be educated, and thereafter pursue their dreams. While referring to an entertainer, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, who is a lawyer, the governor said it was highly essential for the young ones to be educated before thinking of other things in life. “What I brought to you tonight is to let you know that education is very important. You can be who you want to be. If I was not a governor, I would be an accountant; if I was not an accountant, maybe I would have been an entertainer because I love music, I love arts, I love entertainment and that is why I want to encourage all of you, firstly, we must all be educated and then you can now use you creative talents to be who you want to be,” he said. Addressing the mammoth crowd who came out in droves for the fiesta including monarchs, members of the State Executive Council, among others, Mr. Ambode also urged parents to talk to their children on the need to shun all forms of crime and violence, assuring that the state government would continue to put strategies and policies in place to give greater opportunities to the youth. http://www.newsscrollngr.com/index.php/k2-home-news/item/6631-ambode-offers-amnesty-to-cultists-criminals-in-lagos |

childish, in my own opinion, or what do u guys think |
Falz was recently interviewed, and he made some interesting revelations. The “Soft Work” crooner opened up on the American international music act he would love to collaborate with. Interestingly, the rapper and comedian happen to love Rihanna so much that he wants to collaborate with her. If you still remember, it’s not quite long since Falz alleged lover, Simi, came on board and declared her crush on American singer J.Cole. Fanz had questioned Simi about why she is crushing on an American singer when she has Falz right here with her. In response to that, the “Jamb Question” crooner said she doesn’t mind losing Falz just to hook up with J.Cole. That statement was quite a humiliating one for Falz. And it is believed that the singer is now declaring his love for Rihanna in an effort to clap back at Simi for choosing J.Cole over him. However, the singer only declared in an interview with HipTV that he would love to work with Rihanna, whom he described as having something special that if mixed with his own genius, will definitely produce something spectacular. Hmmm. I thought Simi was that one person that could spark up such Chemistry. Is it now Rihanna?
