Christianity Etc › Re: Pope Francis Requests Roman Catholic Priests Be Given The Right To Get Married by philchudi: 11:04am On Nov 04, 2017 |
hassan4: Pope Francis has requested that Roman Catholic priests be given the right to get married.
The request applies to priests in Brazil, and is on the agenda for an upcoming synod (church council) in the Amazon region.
A small number of married Roman Catholic priests already exist, including previously married Anglican vicars who have joined the church.
A request to lift the ban on marriage was made by Brazilian bishop Cardinal Claudio Hummes, who reportedly asked the Pope to consider ‘viri probati’, meaning married of great faith, as priests.
Derry priest Father Paddy O’Kane suggested that Pope Francis may move to end celibacy earlier this month, saying there was support amongst the church for the idea.
Fr O’Kane cited Brazilian liberation theologian Leonardo Boff, who said: “The Brazilian bishops, especially the pope’s own personal friend Cardinal Claudio Hummes, have expressly requested Pope Francis to enable married priest in Brazil to return to pastoral ministry.
“I have recently heard that the pope wants to fulfil this request – as an experimental, preliminary phase for the moment confined to Brazil.” Earlier this year the Pope told Die Zeit newspaper: ‘We must consider if ‘viri probati’ is a possibility. Then we must determine what tasks they can perform, for example, in remote communities.’
Francis and his predecessor Benedict XVI have both stated that celibacy is not a matter of inflexible church dogma unlike, and could be debated.
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/pope-francis-requests-roman-catholic-priests-given-right-get-married-163603054.html Some junk journalist can lia. There is no married catholic priest abegiiiiii. Stop misleading people, is catholic priest d same with Anglican? Or even if they have reconverted to catholic church, they still can't celebrate mass. |

You all have seen many beautiful Range Rovers but the 2018 is nothing but a beast… For years, Land Rover’s Range Rover was unparalleled in the luxury SUV segment. But with demand for SUVs soaring over the past decade it was only a matter of time until rivals started to challenge it. Bentley and Mercedes-Maybach have joined the SUV game and soon Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce will, too and then the war for the most beautiful and sophisticated will become an Innovate or die game. The current, fourth-generation Range Rover is still hard to beat when it comes to an SUV that offers sublime luxury and serious off-roading potential. However, Land Rover isn’t resting on its laurels and will soon update the vehicle. Range Rover promises to to make the 2018 Model a Beautiful beast that will kill off the Mercedes Benz and other luxury brands.

Foreign Affairs › 10 Things To Know About Liberia President Elect, George Weah by philchudi(op): 11:03pm On Oct 17, 2017 |
George Weah has reportedly won the Liberia presidential election which is yet to be announced by the electoral commission prompting us to know more about the retired professional footballer who played as a striker.
Weah, currently a politician is regarded as one of the best African players and forwards of all-time. He is the only African player to win the prestigious Ballon d'Or and World Best Player of the Year in 1995.

Without further ado, below are the 10 things you need to know about George Weah:
01. After starting his career in his home country of Liberia, Arsene Wenger brought him to Europe where he signed for Monaco in 1988.
02. Weah moved to Paris Saint German in 1992 where he won Ligue 1 in 1994 and became the top scorer of the 1994-95 UEFA Champions League.
03. He signed for AC Milan in 1995 where he spent four successful seasons, and won the Italian Serie A, twice. His most notable goal in Italy saw him run the length of the field against Verona.
04. He moved to the English Premier League towards the end of his career and had spells at Chelsea and Manchester City, before returning to France to play for Marseille in 2001, and subsequently ending his career with Al-Jazira in 2003.
05. At international level, he represented Liberia at the African Cup of Nations on two occasions.
06. An idol in Africa, Weah has been heavily involved in politics in his homeland Liberia and ran unsuccessfully for president in the 2005 elections, losing to Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in the second round of voting.
07. In the 2011 election, he ran for vice president on Winston Tubman's ticket. Running as a Congress for Democratic Change candidate, Weah was elected to the senate in 2014.
08. As successful as he was at club level, Weah was not able to bring over that success to the Liberia National Team. In total, Weah played 60 games for Liberia over 20 years, scoring 22 goals.
09. Along with all-time greats in the sport such as Alfredo Di Stefano and George Best, Weah is regarded as being among the best football players who never got the chance to play at a World Cup.
10. Upon official announcement, George Weah will be the only retired professional footballer to emerge as the president of a country. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Muslims Have A Right To Islamise Nigeria - Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo by philchudi: 10:33pm On Oct 15, 2017 |
Statsocial: Lol I totally take an exception to his attack on pentecostals. I have always tried to restrain myself when Catholic bishops in Naija talk so we do not muddy the name of God in public.
How can the catholic church with about 170 billion USD in annual spending and also wealthier than the top 3 corporations in d world put together be accusing Pentecostals of prosperity gospel.
Is it offering, the catholic church collects. I guess they collect tithe too. There own schools are also expensive. Infact Loyola Jesuit Tuition is about thrice of Covenant's own. So lets not be hypocritic here. Don't try to validate your own church by invalidating others.
Also I am pretty sure the likes of catholic, Anglican etc even passes more offering envelopes than the the so called pentecostals in one service. I lived as an orthodox christian for close to 20 years and I know that the number of offering envelopes passed in some services far outnumber what the likes of Living Faith do. SORRY MR MAN, WHERE DID U GET THAT FIGURE FROM ? |

Foodforthought: I wanted to reply to ur insult but I changed my mind. I am way too mature for that. I am Igbo too and I also know what happens in the east. If Igbo's do not support their political leaders, how come their political rallies witness huge turnout? I understand that people do speak against these political rogues as u call them, but there is a difference between speaking and acting. I expect Igbo's to channel their aggression into uprooting the bad leaders that they have and electing the ones that will move the region forward. Why can't anyone start a campaign to kick out okorohausa and his liked?. Instead we are busy raising campaigns to fight marginalization from FG. Biafra or no Biafra we Igbos can take a stand to put things right by ourselves. That is what I'm trying to say. If I am foolish so be it. Mr matured Igbo man I hail ooohhhh. Mtchhhh |

Foodforthought: Misplaced priority Honestly the problem of Igbo's are Igbos themselves. These politicians can actually take it upon themselves to develop their region but they keep fooling around. The Easterners will be transferring aggression because it is easy to do so, neglecting their own failings. Honestly I used to be among those clamouring for Independence but looking at it closely we Igbo's are no better. Until we change ourselves how can we change the society around us? Your opinion is invalid. Why not face d issue at hand rather than bringing a whole tribe into it. |
