NYSC Commends Oyo Government
Over Orientation Camp
NAN
— Feb 26, 2014 | Leave a comment
The Director General of the NYSC, Brig. Gen. Johnson
Olawumi, on Wednesday commended the Oyo State
Government for constructing a permanent orientation camp
for corps members.
Olawumi gave the commendation during his inspection tour
to the new camp located on the Iseyin-Okeho road in Iseyin
Local Government Area.
The NYSC boss, who expressed satisfaction with the
facilities at the camp, said it was important for the scheme
to commend the state government over the gesture.
“I am very happy with these facilities, this is fantastic and I
have no doubt that the corps members will be so happy to
stay here.
“Let me on behalf of the whole NYSC family appreciate the
Oyo State governor, Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, for this wonderful
edifice put in place for our corps members.
“I urge other states to emulate Oyo State Government by
constructing permanent sites for camping corps members,
“he said.
Also speaking, the state’s Commissioner for Youths and
Sports, Alhaji Umar Alao, gave an assurance that the camp
would be ready for camping of Batch B corps members in
March.
According to him, the state government is doing its best to
make life easier for corps members posted to the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the
orientation camp would replace the technical college being
used as temporary orientation camp since the inception of
the scheme.
NAN also reports that the new camp has a clinic, staff
quarters, hostels, kitchens, dining hall and a standard
football pitch. (NAN)

PoliticsGunmen Kidnap Woman In Aba. by phillippiano(op): 7:24am On Jul 16, 2014
ABA— Gunmen believed to be kidnappers, Sunday night, abducted a woman in the commercial
city of Aba, Abia State, as she was riding in her ash-coloured Toyota Camry car.
Although information about the kidnap of the woman, whose name was given as Nkechi
Ogbuka, was sketchy at press time, she was said to have been abducted along Aba/Owerri
road at about 8.45pm.
It was gathered that the hoodlums accosted the lady as she was driving along the ever busy
road and ordered her out at gun point.
The criminals then took her to their hideout from where they had reportedly demanded an
undisclosed amount as ransom.
When contacted, Abia State Command Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Geoffrey Ogbonna,
said he had not received any official report on the incident.

CrimeHow Vulcanizer Was Killed, Buried In Shallow Grave By Herbalist by phillippiano(op): 8:16am On Jul 10, 2014
BY VINCENT UJUMADU
AWKA—A NATIVE doctor, Nze Sunday Asika (alias Aboy Ekwensu) and another person, Mr.
Uchenna Ibeh, were yesterday paraded by the Department of State Service, DSS, in Awka for
killing one John Nwosu, a vulcanizer, from Ahiazu Mbaise in Imo State and burying him in a
shallow grave at Nkpologwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Both Asika and Ibeh admitted that they killed the diseased, but disagreed on who
masterminded the killing.
Asika told Vanguard at DSS headquarters in Awka that though he shot John to death, it was
Ibeh that carried the body and buried him in the grave.
He said further that Ibeh threatened to kill him if he allowed John to go because John had not
been giving them money brought by his brother in South Africa, adding that it was the same
Ibeh that brought the gun he used.
Ibeh, however, said that he was only working for the native doctor as an electrician, but
admitted that he was the person that took security operatives to the place where John was
buried.
Charm for business to flourish
Anambra State Director of DSS, Mr. Alex Okeiyi, told newsmen in Awka that the deceased was
an intermediary between his brother residing in South Africa and the native doctor, who he
(the deceased) approached to prepare a charm that would make it possible for his brother’s
business to flourish in South Africa.
Okeiyi said: “Nwosu’s brother had sent him to the native doctor for a charm to make his
business in South Africa flourish, but the charm seemed not to be effective as his brother in
South Africa was still having problems with his business.
“This forced his brother, John, to demand refund of the N500,000 he said he paid for the charm
and this was his mission to the house of the native doctor. There, the native doctor and Ibeh
lured him out of the native doctor’s house at about 8pm and murdered him.
“Asika shot him with a gun and they buried him in a sitting position in a shallow grave they
prepared earlier.
Victim buried in shallow grave
“Ibeh confessed the native doctor had asked the deceased to stay back for a sacrifice on the
fateful night, only for him to shoot him to death and he (Ibeh) buried the victim in an already
dug pit and they headed to an unknown destination.
“Thereafter, the native doctor ordered the dismantling of the deceased’s motorcycle and used
the parts to repair his faulty CG motorcycle with number plate, Enugu QP 782 UWH, and threw
the dismantled motorcycle into a stream to obliterate evidence that would show that the
deceased visited the native doctor.”
According to Okeiyi, a homicide team from the Anambra State Police Command led by a
pathologist exhumed the remains of the deceased in the shallow grave at Nkpologwu in
Aguata Local Government Area.
He said the native doctor has been a terror in his Nkpologwu community, adding that available
information indicates that he has been providing spiritual protection to high profile criminals
in Anambra and other neighbouring states.
Wife of the deceased, Mrs. Ndidi Nwosu, a mother of three, said she was three months
pregnant when her husband disappeared, adding that when the native doctor was suspected of
being responsible for the death, many people warned her to be careful because the man was
very dangerous.
Mrs Nwosu said she had been going through hardship since the murder of her husband,
adding that it was members of her church, neighbours and relations that had been assisting
her and her children.
