pansophist: You don't need a visa to go to Sweden (or any EU country) if you will be travelling with your spouse, just make sure you're with your marriage certificate.

This right is granted to you by the ECJ and has been incorporated explicitly into directive 2004/38/EC.

More info here

I have my marriage certificate, marriage photos/videos etc, but I don't think this law holds any water unless on certain EU countries.
I will just consult an immigration lawyer to see if this law is still applicable.

Your family is a very good reason to have one. I suggested it not for you to relocate permanently but for ease of movement and your convenience. Wish you the best man.

Ok maybe I don't know what a permanent residency means. I thought Permanent residency is given to someone who wants to live in a country PERMANENTLY? Maybe I was wrong, I will need to find out.

dustydee: It would have been easier if you had a residence permit. Since your wife is based here and a citizen for that matter, I wonder why you have not obtained your residence permit so that you don't have to apply for a UK Visa in the first place. With the permit, you can apply from the UK as a resident.

I had immigration issues the first time i applied for visa, the embassy treated me like shiit and refused my settlement application. They refused my application saying they don't believe my marriage was genuine. Bc back then i worked in a small company with less than 30k salary, and my wife is white and top banker, they told my wife i would dump her later thats what Nigerians do. Mind you we met on a dating site, it was my wife that saw my profile and contacted me, we talked for months and later married in Lagos.

Back then my intention was to live permanently in UK, but after my visa was refused i lost my job and started buying and selling business. from buying from onitsha i started buying from importers in Lagos, from there i started importing from Asia. Right now I run successful companies in Nigeria and so I have no need of UK permanent residency for whatever reasons. There is too much money in Nigeria infact i thank the embassy for refusing my visa bc that opened my eyes.

As it stands now I will drop the idea of traveling to USA till I return to Nigeria. Thanks all for answers, this thread can be closed/locked now

justwise:

Your documents are ok but you are applying from a wrong country, you stand a better chance applying from Nigeria because that is where you have strong tie. Being on visiting visa and family in the UK is not a tie to the UK.

Ok so as I am on visit visa to the UK I cannot travel to any other country until i return to Nigeria? My daughter has been disturbing me to take her to Disneyworld in Paris, so I also cannot visit France with my family unless i go back to Nigeria and apply? These are just very stupid laws that makes no sense at all

@justwise please I need to know is this law applicable to the USA as well? At the end of my visit in UK, i plan to visit New Jersey for 12 days to buy motor parts and other stuffs. Can I apply USA visa from UK or I must go to Nigeria before applying? My sister is a doctor in USA and she will send me IV and any supporting documents. I appreciate your honest advise.

Thanks

Hello everyone, I need advise about applying for Sweden visa from the UK.
I am a Nigerian passport holder currently visiting my family in UK. I came to UK last month with 6 months multiple entry visit visa. I will be staying in UK for 3 months before returning to Nigeria. I am planning to visit my cousin sister in Sweden. I want to travel to Sweden with my wife and 10 years old daughter. Both my wife and daughter are British citizens, and they live permanently in UK. I decided to live in Nigeria because I have my businesses in Nigeria, i cannot close my shops just to live in UK. My family visits me in Nigeria.

Now, i have been on VFS visa website for couple of hours trying to get as much info as possible but i seems to be getting confused. I believe i will get direct answers here than searching in Google and other internet pages, this is why i have come here for help, please make una help me.

1. As a visitor in UK and Nigerian passport holder, Can I apply for Sweden visitor visa from UK?
2. On the VFS website medical travel insurance is one of the requirements, but I got my UK visa without any travel insurance. IS TRAVEL INSURANCE MANDATORY FOR SWEDEN VISA?
3. I came to UK with my recent bank statements, house documents, share certificates, CAC company registration certificates etc. I traveled with all these documents because at the end of my visit in UK I plan traveling to USA to buy some things. Are these documents enough to apply for Sweden visa?
4. What are my chances of getting this visa?
5. The person I am visiting in Sweden is my cousin sister who just put to bed, its over 7 years now that i haven't seen her.
I will appreciate if the visa/immigration experts in the house give me the best advise on how to go about this. My wife will be on leave towards the end of October and that's when I plan to travel, I hope 1 month is enough time to put this Sweden visa thing together?
