Yes, thank you

NwanyiOkpa:
There is no specific format.

Just make it formal.

Paragraph 1: Dear Dr. __________,

I hope this mail finds you well. I am... your name, degree qualification and research interest (it should tally with the interest of your potential supervisor)

Paragraph 2: Give reasons why you are the best fit to be awarded the supervision. If you have taken standardized tests, state your scores and if you have research experience, also state them. Your undergraduate final year project is part of the research experience. You can include it. State valuable work experience.

Paragraph 3: Thank him for his time and anticipate hearing from him.

Attach Transcript, Standardized test results, statement of purpose, Recommendation letter from previous supervisors or lecturers

Dear Dr. NwanyiOkpa,

I hope this mail finds you well. I was going through the faculties list and i found your profile. I am a graduate of___________ with a dire interest in (insert research area). Having read your articles and publications, I believe that your supervision would be a great way to improve my research skill.

My name is _________... In preparation for graduate school, I have taken courses in_______ and i have also taken the mandatory TOEFL exam where i scored_____.

Just follow this format using the instruction i gave. There is no particular sequence to follow. Just convey your message and try not to follow that my sample because i believe other people would copy it. I just wanted to show you that it's something that can easily be drafted. I just typed that one off hand.

I hope it helps. Goodluck!

You can also browse for samples online. I wish i could share my personal template but because of plagiarism, I won't. I hope you understand.

Thank you. Can you help with a better approach of sending mails to supervisors. Between for fall session application deadline was April 1.

Is there any other way around this.
NwanyiOkpa:
Let me be honest.

If you have not gotten any supervisor then I guess they are either trying to help you find one or they are typing your regret mail. It is best to source for supervisors by yourself but if you can't, it is a good option to switch to a course-based masters. You will get admitted within two weeks.

I am talking from personal experience.

Hello House, I'm still waiting for the response.

phlora09:
Good morning,

I'm new here. I applied for graduate studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Process engineering(thesis route) for fall 2020/2021 session. I submitted my application November 2019. I was told the decision made will be released by march ending/early April. I don't know what is delaying. Also I haven't gotten a supervisor. I have written to a lot of them and no responses from them. Can anyone guide me in writing or a better approach to this.

Thank you

Good evening, when did you apply and when was your admission decision made?

NwanyiOkpa:
Good morning,

I have a few questions i would like to ask. I just got admitted into MASc in oil and gas engineering (course based). I hold a first degree from Nigeria, Mechanical Engineering.

How is the oil and gas industry in canada? can i practice as an engineer after my masters program? Thanks as i anticipate your response.

PS: i was admitted to Memorial University of Newfoundland.
