COMMONWEALTH SHARED SCHOLARSHIPS
Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are offered for selected taught Master’s courses, and are usually tenable for one year only. These scholarships do not cover undergraduate courses, PhD study, or any pre-sessional English language teaching.

ELIGIBILITY
To apply for these scholarships, you must:
• Be a Commonwealth citizen, refugee, or British protected person
• Be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country
• Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2016
• By August 2016, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard
• Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a developed country
• Be unable, either yourself or through your family, to pay to study in the UK

HOW TO APPLY/DEADLINE

MONASH UNIVERSITY, AUSTRALIA INTERNATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
Monash University is offering a number of scholarship programs including the Monash University International Merit Scholarships for outstanding international students who wish to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Monash University.

AWARD
31 scholarships will be available for Bachelor/Masters Degree.
$10,000 for a full time study load (48 credit points) paid per year until the minimum number of points for your degree are completed.

ELIGIBILITY
• International student
• Commencing students with a full Monash course offer or continuing students, and
• Undertaking a full time undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) degree at a Monash campus in Australia

Developing Solutions is The University of Nottingham’s flagship international scholarship programme for postgraduate masters courses.

AWARD
105 scholarships available:
• 30 x 100% tuition fee
• 75 x 50% of tuition fees

ELIGIBILITY

• have not already studied outside of your home country** AND

Don't underestimate their strong alumni network all over the Corporate world (it might come in handy when job-hunting later).

Perhaps they want better trained professionals but 11 years is very long. It doesn't even include Housemanship.

The Nigerian University Regulatory Body, NUC (National Universities Commission) have just announced that prospective medical students will now spend 11 years in the university.

The breakdown is 4 years studying Basic sciences + 7 years in Medical school. This is big deviation from the current 7 years (6 years Studies + 1 year work experience) in University.

So what are the options:

Ghana – 6 years

South Africa – 6 years

UK – 5 years

US – 8 years (4 years First Degree + 4 years Medical School)

So Nigerians seem to have the worst deal of all. It would be interesting to see how this would work out.

It is an excellence idea to add such experience to your CV. Some many employers are looking for self-starters with entrepreneur traits so that should give you an edge.

Believe me, such experience (if properly packaged) would lead to Interviewers as some Employers would just want to meet you out of curiosity. An Interview takes you a step closer to the job.

There is no quick win or magic pill for stage fright. You just have to get used to it - by doing it a LOT.

Focus on familiar faces in the crowd to give you confidence.

On a slightly contradictory advice, you can keep your focus at the back of the room. This gives a confident impression of looking at the entire crowd.

On another school of thought, there are immense benefits of having highly influential neighbours/friends.

The picture you described is quite funny. I share your point of view. It just that i have been hearing this phrase too often from people: "The societal status of the people you have as neighbours influences your place in the society." A typical example is the Linda Ikeji's Banana Island saga, where she bragged about being neighbours with Dangote, Mike Adenuga and co. I am still trying to understand the rationale behind this type of mindset.
