If you call for a war between the french and Russian army, i can assure 2 weeks max is what it will take for France to be at the beck and call of Russia. Among the top 5 world powers, france is the weakest of them all because history has shown that they can't endure a prolong assauy against them as was with the case with Germany during world war I and II.
Every technological bragadozo they had proved uterly useless as the Germans trampled on the so called inpregnable defense lines as if they were walking on top of water like Jesus.
At times i ask myself why countries like Germany and japan are not on the list of 5 military powers? Whether good or bad these two countries have shown that they can be able to project their powers far beyond their borders when faced against foreign adversaries (defence or offence) which can't be said of france. The sanctions itself is affecting other European countries who were forced to implement the sanctions against their people's will. Take Poland for example, apple farmers in Poland are having difficulties trying to sell their produce because Russia was their number one export receptor. The polish government tried to stock all government secretariat with apples to encourage farmers but it did little to alleviate the problem. Not to mention other European countries who use to export other vegetables to Russia but are no more doing so thereby counting down on foreign exchange.
The sanctions have really made the Russians to sit up and do things like the super power they are.
They are now the world's largest producer of grains, they now manufacture all the farm machinery used in Russia (not like they didn't know how to do so before), They introduced their own card system (like MasterCard) across Russia that even MacDonald have adopted.
They also stopped the import of genetically modified seedlings (Monsanto as a case study).

Two things:

1. No one condemns their own more than the Igbos when a crime is committed in the community.
