Well,I don't know where you guys got the idea of 210 being the minimum aggregate for consideration into any course. As far as I know and I'm concerned,as long as you have an aggregate above 199 you stand a chance of being admitted irrespective of your chosen course. On the note of this, there are two extremes;Merit or Long-leggedness(strong connection) with Serendipity(luck) coming in between in form of a variable. As long as you are unable to meet the cut-off,You stand a risk of not being admitted unless luck interposes..And just like I earlier stated,Luck is variable..If you failed to meet the cut-off it could work on your side and vice-versa not minding your aggregate unless you're well-connected. Just like samtolly earlier stated,OAU isn't like UI that offers fallback courses. What you guys were saying about the 210 ish is very misleading...As long as your aggregate is above 199 you're good to go. |
Chiamaka01: Guys, which day is the partial eclipsa expected?Lunar eclipse-October 18 Solar eclipse-November 3 Not all cities will experience them..Just few..But most of the cities expected to experience them are from NW(North-west) and NC(North-central) geo-political zones..They include Ilorin,Abuja and others(can't recollect all for now) |
Happy Eid-il-Kabir celebration to all our moslem brothers and sisters. Morning. |
don_salvy: Yea, u gat a point. Dey only carry d name 'literature/art students'. Most of em ain't as good as dia name sounds.Maybe you're mingling with the wrong set of arts students. It would have been better if you had clarified your assertion by saying thus;"Most of the arts students I KNOW aren't as good as their name sounds" For every rule, there is always a dispensation..Not all arts students will be good..Same applies to non-arts students. |

Truth be told, this dude is gradually losing his steam..His performances of recent have been unimpressive. To me,I think he doesn't measure up to par anymore unlike the nations cup where he performed excellently.. |
Chiamaka01: Morning, guys.1:16 pm..Afternoon not morning. |
papindinho: well explained by oga phtemie though.Better put,.well written. |
Afolabi6046: 'The law is a jealous mistress'. Past. Sam, miracy, temi, papadinho(nt sure) y d frowned face guys, i didnt say it, Prof. Ferdinand Fairfax Stone of d Tulane Law School said so.lol Well,I think it means the populace(citizens) belongs to the law..And it is the sole responsibility of the law to protect them whichever way possible. The statement is only characterised by ambiguity..The word "jealous" is ambiguous(multi-meaning)..It could mean being envious of someone's achievement and at the same time could mean "being very protective of one's possession(s)". So in this context, the statement can be paraphased as "the law is a mistress that is very protective of her possessions" From this,we can easily draw out the underlying meaning of the statement as "The law is ultimately saddled with the sole responsibility of protecting the citizens" I could be wrong though..Just my thought..Anybody with a different insight can shed more light on the statement. |

papindinho: I was going through the first stanza of the national anthem today and noticed this nebulous line 'the labour of our heroes past'. Then I quizzed myself.Obviously,we have past heroes... Their contribution was not peculiar to national liberation But I would say there were partially futuristic and partially unfuturistic.. Their pre-independence struggles predominantly portrayed them as nationalists whilst their post-independece activities portrayed them as both nationalists and politicians.. See,some of these nationalists bequethed some bad legacies to the present Nigerian generation despite their tremendous effort in the attainment of the country's national liberation.. If time permits,I might come back with a more comprehensive analysis..Morning house. |
Messilo: Literature my foot! How dare these people compare literature to physics, chemistry, maths and biology!I used to think you're smart. But now I need no other proof to buttress the fact that you're d.um.b. |

Nairalane: Join me in my structural thought. It goes thus. People generally believe that the whitemen are wiser and unquestionably superior to we blacks. But sometimes ,they act meaninglessly and unattached to the dictionary of human behaviours. For example, naming a child woodgate, stone, hazard, blunt, churchill, green, sand. The most annoying is tiger woods. If "woods" is d surname, how can i name my son "tiger". Does this make any sense. Despite this personality-debasing whitemen displays, we ourselves still believe that the whitemen are so superior to us. We blacks consider ourselves as less important. For instance, when papadinho and samtolly park their clothes out yesterday and ready for a wash, they wash d white ones first and then to wash the rugged black ones in parallel channel. So, u too practise racism-superiority of the supercilious whitemen above the black. Maybe its natural, hypothetically stated. But i cannot explain. I believe we blacks are gifted, as created by God. Thank God that salvation was made free, the whitemen would have hijack the whole with their mere-haughty colonising spirit and a sublime piece of mysticism. Thank you for your time.I think you guys have discussed this and reached a conclusion..But I just want to contribute my own little cents..I just hope it's not belated. In as much as I believe that inferiority complex is a syndrome affecting many nigerians,I still believe it would be self-deceit if anyone asserts that the whites are not smarter than us..Yes!I said they are smarter..Not subscribing to an idea doesn't confute the reality of the idea..Atheists/agnostics don't believe in the reality of God's existence and religious mysticism, yet that doesn't discredit the reality of God's existence..Synonymously,that we nigerians, africans and blacks in general don't believe the whites are currently smater than Us doesn't refute the credibility of the idea..A Man city fan is likely to tell you they lost to Bayern due to tactical problem or managerial incompetence, but anybody reasoning from a neutral platform would concur with me that if the team had featured two Messis and two Ronaldos or both pep guardiola and mourinho the team would probably have lost the match. It is only in Africa that a mechanical engineer would take his faulty car to a roadside Mechanic. Only in Africa a Medical doctor would advise you to take your sick child to a local church instead of a hospital Most technically advanced gadgets we use were made by the whites..Same thing applies to the cars we use. Until I see an african syndicate produce a car archetype or an aeroplane prototype, then the idea would remain unrefutable. Seriously,Nigerians like self-deceit and complacency..I think facing reality is another mental emancipation Nigerians need. Actions speak louder than words..Let them know they aren't superior through our own actions. |
Olastep1: i salute you o o o...Yes my boss..That's it.. |
papindinho: Barri to sure... Na you Biko.Biko ke?..Omo kekere ara mi..I still be learner.. |
With the likes of people with high intellectual abilities and thunderstriking analytical aptitude we've got in this thread, all I can say is that the future is brighter than the brightest. God bless! |
Olastep1: Seriously now,You just nailed it! As you and pappidinho were having the discussion,I was busy nodding my head to the intellectually sound points I could deduce from your argument. But I couldn't help but comment due to the very smashing point you just made. Corruption is a canker-worm that has eaten deep into the fabrics of all the sectors of the country,no doubt. But I've always argued that the change we need is "ourselves" just as you pinpointed. This calls to mind President Obama's electioneering campaign slogan in 2008-"CHANGE".Obama admittedly attested that what Americans needed was change but on the other hand he convincingly argued the change they needed had to start from them. I can vividly recall having a discourse with pappidinho about this particular issue. He countered my opinion with a quasi-postulation that the leadership position is occupied by a circle of perpetuators who keep perpetuating themselves and their sycophants into power..But I still believe the change starts from us,from our locality..We don't need to get to the realms of power to effect the change. Just like You said, how many people can proudly boast of their Ssce/jamb/p-jamb/ as a consequence of their hardwork? I believe and I know for sure that we are the change we've all been clamouring for since time immemorial. "Be the change that you wish to see In the world"_Mahatma Ghandi. Morning people!..Ante-meridiem! |
