papindinho: I was going through the first stanza of the national anthem today and noticed this nebulous line 'the labour of our heroes past'. Then I quizzed myself.

Do we really have past heroes?

Was their only contribution the attainment of national liberation?

Were they futuristic in the structures they left (constitution, govt structure et al)?

Were they nationalists or politicians?


So many question in stock for why we are where we are.
I would like to hear your view(s) on this. Yes, including you that you are reading this.

Their contribution was not peculiar to national liberation

But I would say there were partially futuristic and partially unfuturistic..

Their pre-independence struggles predominantly portrayed them as nationalists whilst their post-independece activities portrayed them as both nationalists and politicians..

See,some of these nationalists bequethed some bad legacies to the present Nigerian generation despite their tremendous effort in the attainment of the country's national liberation..
