PoliticsThe Terror Called Rochas! by picolo01(op): 3:41pm On Jun 24, 2012
One thing is undisputed in this argument, that is: our Rochas’s passion and desire for something different. This is absolutely commendable – most elected state governor go into that seat without a single vision, only hoping to learn on the job.
Yes, Rochas has a mission; yes, he has a vision for his mission; yes, he has a passion for his vision.
We all (critics and fans alike) respect him for that. Salute once again, sir.

However, one man’s mission, vision and passion cannot be equated for the masses. It simply can’t be. He is not our father neither is the state his personal property, he is a mere citizen, a “was-loved” citizen, who was voted-in to the government house to work in concert with the equally elected house of assembly to direct and manages our resources (human and material). The job of the state governor entails fermenting ideas and vision and selling it to the populace. Of course, some people might not agree to these ideas, he the governor then needs to galvanize the conscience of the people by clearly explaining the benefits of his vision, the strategy to actualize it and long term plan to sustain it.
If most still opposes it after the sensitization, you find alternative for Christ sake! There are over 1000 ways to kill a rat why insist on one.

Has Rochas done any of these on any of his radical ideas?

One of the first things this administration did was to suggest relocating IMSU;

What has been the reaction of the people? MASSIVE opposition! Massive opposition to this unreflective idea!
Majority of people has complained, cried and demonstrated. Yet, our governor insists on relocating the university.
In fact our joi-joi recently published an update on the construction of the “NEW IMSU”, may be nice to add, at Ideato, the governor’s village.

What could possibly be the merit of this relocation if I may ask?
Those saying Owerri is congested, has anyone been in Owerri when IMSU is not on section? Yes I have been. Owerri literally turns to a dead zone, the area from works layout to Orji turns to a ghost city, the clubs and hotels function, at best, at a quarter capacities ( that’s when it was only a few ), the Okadas and taxis pack up, even ITC goes all frustrated, and most relocate to neighbouring states.

Now imagine this to be a permanent occurrence, what will happen?
Our people say: “one doesn’t watch a masquerade from one spot”.
The business will definitely relocate. The little service jobs in the state will be lost.
The hotel will surely fold up, the fast food will comatose, and occurrences of selling spoilt food and beyond expiry date items will become the norm- the few patronizing people left will be put off and cook and eat at home. Finally the resultants will join the hotels and pack up.

BEAF stop getting ur hopes up, nothing is happening . there is no coordinated program to resuscitate the seaport.

did u see the 2nd niger bridge design ?

did u notice it is not a suspended bridge design? - meaning there is no provision for vessels to navigate beneath it.

now if vessels cant navigate beneath it, how will the seaport function ?

i think its really a shame that the others "two for the price of one" states are literally parasiting heavily on lagos revenue, at this rate Lagos can never attain her suppose and full potential - into a megacity.

Lagos financial debt is current almost 4000% of her revenue.

Lagos has the most capital/ financial burden of any state, being the commercial capital of the country of which thousands migrate to daily.

On matter what is built in Lagos, as long as this current structure is in place- Lagos will ultimate fail.

SUMMARY , this structure is absolutely not sustainable and need to be reviewed.

steps to be taken by lagos

1st. stop payment to the FG until the matter is resolved.

2, get a court injunction to the effect.

3. Send / Threaten to send any un-productive person out of Lagos.

4. Stop accepting every FG projects and demand to have the Fg relocate some of the seaports.

5. define a business model for lagos - financial or industrial. having the two will inconvenience the other esp financial .

BY THE WAY, HOW COME ONITSHA DOESNT GENERATE AS MUCH REVENUE AS THESE THREE ??

BIGGEST MARKETS ?

BIGGEST TRANSPORT HUB.

HIGHEST REAL ESTATE AFTER ISLAND AND ASOKORO, A MODERATE SIZE SHOP ON A-LINE IN ONITSHA GOES FOR OVER 25 MILLION PER ANNUM.

A PIECE OF LARGE AROUND MAIN MARKET FETCHES UPWARDS OF 700 MILLION.

ONITSHA HAS OVER TEN THOUSAND BILLIONAIRE IMPORTER

HUNDREDS OF INDUSTRIES.

Beaf: In many ways, Lagos has brought this on herself. That state is always at the forefront of asking for more federal funds, without considering that as by far the most industriliased piece of real estate in the country, she is shooting herself in the foot. Reason? Imagine lagos becomes the next Bangalore in Nigeria (which is very possible); under the current revenue sharing formula, their taxes will go to all the other states of Nigeria as awuf, instead of into development.

Nigerians don't even realise the scope of what they are playing with.
so whats your position on it ?
FamilyRe: My Husband Of Less Than A 1yr Of Marriage Has Changed by picolo01: 4:28am On Apr 26, 2012
the question no one has asked it , WHAT MADE HIM CHANGE ALL OF A SUDDEN?

DID HE GET AN INFO, THAT HIS MADAM IS MESSING AROUND ?

IS THE MAN AN INTROVERT that finds it difficult to express himself ?

I dont think she needs to roll on the floor, plead and beg to placate him, the issue will still be there. call him up in the morning and speak to him like an adult , not just as ur husband. query him about the sudden change.

if it is not resolved amicably , then tell him you did be involving your parents.
