Na only God go save us for the Everton game when you consider how close it is and how leggy a lot of the players were today.

What we had as attack today did not seem organized or practised. We had men forward yes but the spacing was atrocious, the movement was non existent and the less said about the accuracy of passing/crossing the better.

There were times we had 3,4 players within 10 yrds of each other on the left touchline while Lindelof, Mata and Young were in yards of space on the right. Other times we had a man on the ball and no passing lane open to him going forward.

I know they practise attacking plays BUT they are obviously not doing it right. Southampton's attacking forays looked better rehearsed, we just had the better players.
at this rate, I will be very ok, with a comfortable top 4 finish.
Come end of season, the club sits down to re evaluate the manager position by first trying to find out if he is still very keen on remaining the manager.

I find it a bit disturbing that things really began to go downhill once talks for contract extension started and he began to shamelessly flirt with psg

We looked our most dangerous when young was released on that right hand side with enough space to whip in a cross, but they kept on ignoring his runs all through the game.

I am surprised this is coming from you, were you not defending JM just a couple of days ago? What changed?
if you observe closely enough, I have never absolved Mourinho of any blame, I also do not shy away from a good/balanced criticism. What ends up turning into a full scale defence most times are the several baseless claims that fly around anytime we drop points.

Just like someone coming here today for example to say we drew today because Mkhitaryan, martial etc were made to track back.

What I defend against is when people just pick up any 'Mourinho sin' past, present or even future and try to make it stick in situations where it has no business being mentioned.

They attacked, except no cutting edge. We need a match winner, like Neymar. A match winner would have opened them up badly. I am afraid to say, Martial is not that person. He had chances to go behind the defence line before anyone knew what was happening, he couldn't. He delayed his moves. He didn't prove to be an improvement on Mkhitaryan
the team attacked quite alright, but most of the forays into their attacking third were dire and we looked bereft of ideas.
The several claims that Jose's teams don't do attacking drills In training as ridiculous as it sounds may have some elements of truth in it afterall.

There's no other reason to explain the total lack of off ball movements and generally poor patterns of attacks.

The distance between the person with the ball and the nearest teammate at times was shocking

I once defended Evans after that mk dons game where he was horrible and I was nearly killed. Small thing remain, he for dey part and parcel of this city juggernaut and is almost certain to make the move to city or even Arsenal in the coming windows.

We had no business selling Evans when someone like smalling was still earning salary here.
before one mumu interprete this to mean say Na the sale of Evans dey affect us now, it isn't.

This only goes to show how terrible we have been the the transfer market

We have De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Young that's our back 5...There's Martial and Rashford who was just about the most highly rated youngster in the league. Mata, Fellaini, Shaw and Herrera on the bench
Valencia is part of why that right flank is so dead. For all his defensive solidity, he still doesn't know how to cross.
Doesn't know when to hit an early cross or even how.
Doesn't know when to hit it first time, I have lost count of the number of times he delays first time crosses till the opening is closed and ends up just passing back after dallying or just runs down the bye line to smack the defender.

Smalling is too limited and would not make the 1st team of a serious club in Europe or any top 6 in England for that matter except maybe arsenal. I have always thought Evans to be better.

Young, lol. That he is playing ahead of Shaw is enough reason for that man to take a long hard look in the mirror and reevaluate his life to see where it is going wrong.
His competition is blind, darmian and young and he is struggling for gametime. Says a lot really.

The only person I truly rate there is Jones but he has his fitness demons

go to your dictionary and look for the word opinion.
opinions can be smart or dumb.
They can be right or wrong.
I could be of the opinion right now that you don't have sense, if I begin to quote you everyday just to tell you without any logical reason.. At the very least you go tire for me and it will get to a point where you will try to get me to shut up eventually.

I'm beginning to see more and more Mourinho quotes where he is hinting that he doesn't have as much free hand to chop and change as he wishes because money is limited.

I just want to hope he is taking this position so when he goes for players they don't tax us like the way boli women do to men that park g wagon to make purchase.
This has been an annoying feature of our last few transfer negotiations.

Wenger once said there is now 2 transfer markets, one for big clubs and the other for others, but United have been operating in an even more difficult third market largely because of our 'you know say money no be problem' body positioning.

Nihilist:

I personally believe that Mourinho might have lost his touch. I suspect that this job might be his penultimate big job in club football.

I used to disagree a lot with nateevs when he used to disparage the man, because when you look at his history, you will find record breaking attacking football in his catalogue.

Jose wouls usually play expansive football up to a point, bookended by games of mors pragmatic football.

Today as i was driving, i heard on radio that mourinho was worried that Lukaku has been working out too much in the gym and has put on a fair bit of muscle...which may have led to him losing some pace.

Sometime during the last decade, the pace of the game has changed a lot. The big bruisers of the yesteryear are gone. You cant see anybody with roberto carlos type of thighs anymore. You cant see defenders that look like micah richards or oguchi onyewu anymore.

The players have shed that muscle and become lighter, faster...even shorter.

.The physique has changed greatly and many of these footballers could very easily be long distance runners. Kante and Firmino easily come to mind. If you look at Leroy sane's body shape too, the guy literally moves like a ballet dancer. I remember watching him doing his stretches and warm up at Wembley last season ahead of the FA cup semifinal and the guy literally moved like a cat.

Mourinho traditionally has always trusted in big strong burly lads. From Drogba to Essien to Matic and Lukaku, powerful men have always been central to his game plan.

This season alone, i read somewhere that Jose already has the tallest squad in the league.

Well what if, a game plan that is so dependent on height, mass and power cannot compete with opponents who are smaller, faster, more agile and boast more stamina?

What if the same bus tactics that used to work so well is failing because top level opponebts can simply run rings around Mourinhos giants?

What if the likes of Lukaku are really piling on the muscle and now struggling to cover distance quickly?

I dont know the answers to these questions...plus im high as fück!
if na well thought out essay like this person dey see here, discussions for dey more interesting.

Not the agenda fueled generic nonsense that everyone spews at the slightest opportunity.
