ComputersRe: Windows 9 Is Coming. This Is What It Looks Like by pimpc007(m): 11:37am On Sep 14, 2014
abatically: Windows 8.1 is just a slight update from windows 8, not an overhaul like xp-win7-win8. 8.1 runs on windows 8 framework.
You don't get it do you? The fact that there is even a slight update of Windows 8 (which is 8.1), then that means Microsoft noticed fundamental flaws which they rushed in to fix. There was never a Windows 7.1 and others before it, instead there were only the security fixes.

All these screenshots seem easy to you but if you were into software development you would appreciate the philosophy of simplicity of software better
ComputersRe: Windows 9 Is Coming. This Is What It Looks Like by pimpc007(m): 10:25pm On Sep 13, 2014
abatically: Maybe it requires some learning curve but that is no biggy.
actually this is a BIG deal. The reason the Microsoft Windows OS became what it is today is because it went from being something that required a learning curve (that is, when only geeks could operate it) to something simplified for everyone (thus, the GUI - Graphical User Interface).
You know, all software can actually be presented in Command Line where you have to know codes and type all day but it isn't.
The simpler the presentation of valuable software, the better. Ask Apple!

abatically: If u can't do a simple thing as right clicking the start button and shutting down on windows 8.1, then u shouldn't be handling a computer.
sharp man, I was talking about shutting down in Windows 8, not 8.1. That screenshot is 8.1.
The argument is Windows 8. before you play smart next time, check and see what the argument is

shollynoob: ...but u once learnt Win95 at least I guess, Won't u do same for Win8?
In this case it is an upgrade and is supposed to simplify my Win95 experience. It is not new software so I should not have to re-learn it
ComputersRe: Windows 9 Is Coming. This Is What It Looks Like by pimpc007(m): 6:38pm On Sep 13, 2014
Even something as simple as shutting down Windows 8 is something you have to go to school for! That, my dear, is crappy.
ComputersRe: Windows 9 Is Coming. This Is What It Looks Like by pimpc007(m): 6:33pm On Sep 13, 2014
abatically: This is where u are wrong. 12% of total windows 8 users is a good number. You need to understand the OS is only 2 years old. Same thing happened when Microsoft released windows 7 back in 2009, then it was hard for people to shift from XP. But today windows 7 has the most users. corporate companies don't just change their OS anyhow.
Let me give u a good illustration using android. According to the figure below,
https://dzfocdn.dazeinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/3.jpg
As u can see Android 4.1-4.3 jellybean has the largest distribution at 59.1%. This is a software that was released in 2012. The latest version android 4.4 kitkat has only 1.4%. Now tell me is android 4.1-4.3 jellybean better than android 4.4 kitkat? The answer is NO. As a software grows, the market share increases and this the case with windows 8.
Mobile OS even has an advantage here. Most people use their phones for only 1-2 years and then get a new phone that comes with the latest OS. This is not the case with computers. People use computers for 5 years plus before buying a new one. Lots of people don't bother upgrading their old laptops and this is why windows 7 still has the largest user. Trust me in a few years time the numbers will turn.
its not about time, if it were solely about how old the OS is, how do you explain the large adoption of W7 as compared to Vista?
Also, comparing phone OS adoption here is not really logical because phone OS upgrades have a very short life-span relative to PC upgrades (as a matter of fact I have used Android 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 in less than 12 months on the same phone). PC OSs take up to 4 years before new ones come out. Please explain to me why Vista had a relatively low adoption rate?
ComputersRe: Windows 9 Is Coming. This Is What It Looks Like by pimpc007(m): 9:15am On Sep 13, 2014
Fulaman198: For sure, also people need to add Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 together to see that it is roughly 12% of people total.
How does 12% (of 2 OSs technically) compare to over 50% from Windows 7? It tells you there is a problem with the product. Its not a totally difficult OS for someone who has been in IT for long to figure out, or even for anyone but the point is, software has to be seamless. This is why Nokia had huge market share back in the day. Not that people who used Nokia phones couldn't figure out how to use motorola or samsung or LG, its just that the flow was not there.

ClintonNzedimma: This is why Nigerians are backward.
How can you say u prefer Windows 7 to Windows 8.
Do you know how that sounds?
Its just like saying i prefer a catapault to a gun....Jeez
No wonda White men laugh at us.
Tell that to a programmer on Nairaland and he will laugh bele tear.Chai.
People gladly accepting backwardness
hello, there is every reason to have preference for Windows 7 over 8. In case you don't know, this phenomenon is world-wide. Lots of people in developed countries have refused to join Windows 8 (you should google this if its hard to believe from me).
For me, I never adopted Windows 8 even though I own an actual copy of the software. I totally agree with the speed in some aspects of the OS - for example, right-clicking on an icon in the task bar to eject is waay faster, shutdown time is also faster than W7 but then one of the merits of any software upgrade, be it an OS or application is the ease of use over its predecessor. As long as the W7 is still supported (security upgrades and all), I find absolutely no reason to switch to the complexity of W8. The W8 UI in my opinion was a rush to catch-up with tablet computing UI but the people at Microsoft forgot we use the OS primarily on PCs. The found out their major mistake which was the start menu and tried to make amends in W8.1 by bringing the start button back. History has shown us approval/adoption ratings that, XP was Tops, Vista = Bottom, W7 = Tops, W8 = bottom, W9 should be Top Notch!

I was watching and then my subscription expired (cut-off)...
I think its highly unfair that people sit in front of their computers and make negative statements against Oscar P. because the evidences like the judge summarized this morning are too few and not very substantial to establish anything. Its scary to listen to people make negative comments when we truly have little to work with, its scary because these people making these comments may be in a jury one day and make a decision that would alter someone Else's life for the worse.
BusinessRe: Paypal Should Allow The Nigerian Online Market Receive Funds On Their Platform by pimpc007(op): 11:48pm On Sep 04, 2014
dayus444: i doubt if the CBN governor or finance minister even knows what paypal is, not to mention its huge importance.
Some of the banks that patnered with paypal to facilitate this half baked service should also share in the blame.
What is our problem in this country?
Certainly they know what PayPal is, the problem is that the would jump at any offer a large foreign corporation would throw at them without without questioning the details of the offer. In this case it was: "anything to redeem Nigeria's Foreign image abroad. Anything."
BusinessPaypal Should Allow The Nigerian Online Market Receive Funds On Their Platform by pimpc007(op):
PayPal have been open for business internationally for over 16 years, but have only been in the Nigerian market for about 3-4 months. As a young man who came up in the early nineties when the world wide web became widely known, I was one of the very interested young people desperate to make a difference via this new intrusion called the internet. I got to know about companies like ebay, PayPal, Amazon and the like as soon as the emerged. Naturally I was drawn to the endless possibilities the internet could offer, one of which is commerce. I tried to make a transactions online, but these transactions wouldn't go through because I come from a country that is widely known to send scam emails and defraud people especially over the internet. The years rolled by and PayPal became the biggest means of payment online.

It has been frustrating to be restricted from online commerce for so long and now we have the service, PayPal. Finally we have the service but the fact is we here in Nigeria can now register for PayPal and send money abroad to obtain what we want online but we cannot receive any funds whatsoever. It is still as frustrating not to have the entire service here in Nigeria which is the largest black nation in the world with a massive online presence of over 55 million people according to some studies.

What PayPal Inc. have done here in Nigeria is incomprehensible to me. Why enable the service at all if we cannot have full access to it? If they were so concerned about cyber-security in the Nigerian market why did they bring the service at all? It is illogical not to enable fully, a service that could help small time entrepreneurs in our country.

Whatever the reasons are for the status quo, it is not enough. We either have the PayPal service completely, or we don't have it at all.

Please sign my petition to help my cause. Thank You.

Please I would like everyone visit this link: https://www.change.org/p/paypal-inc-they-should-allow-the-nigerian-online-market-receive-funds-on-their-platform and sign this petition.
As it stands, this is our only means of making noise and making a difference.

thanks guys for all the helpful information you all posted here.
I'm a young dude, i want to be a programmer. I'm not new to basic computer knowledge, i really don't know much about programming except the little info i get here and there online and my little knowledge of BASIC, PASCAL which i learnt in d university. I have a few questions:
1. If i get a computer, ready to start programming from the scratch, how do i change the windows O.S to linux O.S? Where can i get access to the linux O.S in nigeria?
2. I'm think of starting with python program and since i don't have access to my own computer for now, can i start with the python symbian version on my symbian mobile phone
Is it the same thing with using python on a normal computer?
I'll truely appreciate helpful answers.

SportsRe: Why I Couldn't Fit Into African Football - Fashanu ! by pimpc007(m): 10:07pm On Sep 24, 2010
I don't really know him, but i've been seeing him on TV in recent times. I think he's a great football analyst, and I think he's got a great brain (i connect with what he says atleast). But I don't want to think a greater part of the hate most of the posters spill here, is at the fact that fash is homophobic (from what u guys have said),  great decision. fash shouldn't have gone to his brother and hugged him- "Good thing you're gay I love You" - Gay people shouldn't be supported! there's nothing right about being gay!
Second, If the hate is from the 'fact' (i don't know that) that he wasn't on talking terms with his brother before his death and he (fash) is now sounding different after his death,  my opinion: It's natural. you expect nice words from someone about their dead sibling/friend/relation (most of the time).
I really can't talk more on fash. like Sean Penn talking about Wyclef on CNN i'll say: I don't know the Man.

GamingDoes Master League Have An End? by pimpc007(op): 12:43pm On Sep 22, 2010
Hi. I have been playing master league for PES 2010 on PS2 for some months now. I'm in my 9th season (i.e. 2017) in the league, i've won every possible award/trophy winnable and i am tired on playing the master league (you know how long it is- playing about 60 matches every season). The only reason why i just can't stop playing is because i had promised myself i'll finish the master league (to the very end). But now i don't know if it's ever going to have a final end or does someone stop when they feel they have achieved much? anyone who has played this master league should pls tell me something.
