Career / Re: Marketing Practitioners Meet Here by pip4wealth(m): 1:06pm On Jun 15, 2009
You guys are really making marketing profession taking the right place it deserves. As a Professional in the field of marketing I just want to make little contribution to some of the questions and issues discussed above.

Let's first look at the way marketing and sales are treated in Nigeria. It should be clear to all that most companies in Nigeria don't differentiate sales from Marketing. In fact, when they mention marketing functions what they mean is selling functions. To the extent that Marketing department is treated like sales department. If there is one major difference I would like to mention, it is the fact that Marketing is a broad term that encompasses other components out of which selling is just a sub element of one of the components of marketing.

To this end marketing is made up of 4 variables which are Product, Price, Place and promotion. I need to make it clear that selling is a subset of Promotion which consists of Personal Selling, Publicity, advertising, and Sales Promotion. As you can see marketing is bigger in scope than what an average CEO understands it to be. A Marketing executive is suppose to be a master strategist responsible for product planning and development. pricing, promotion and distribution of the product. All these actions are done to the total satisfaction of both existing and potential customers.

If you need to know more about Marketing and Selling differences you can send an email to me @ morufug@yahoo.com to pick up an article I wrote on the topic: Compendium of Marketing Definition which clearly explains Marketing in relation to other often confused variables

For Introduction sake, I'm the CEO of Mighty-MofaZ Company, an Internet Marketing Business Solutions company. An associate member of NIMN

Business / Re: Forex Trading: How Profitable? by pip4wealth(m): 10:32am On Oct 29, 2008
Forex trading is a two way sword that can make money for you as well as negativelly kill your money. The truth of the matter is that it is a business that is highly profitable with almost equal amount of risks. Over the years, my finding on most traders that have lost their money is that an average nigerian want to reap where they have not sowed, most young trader want to make money without sufficient training. This account for the 95% reasons that the failure rate recorded is so high.

Jakumo, I'm highly surprised that there are people like you in this forum who have
time for meaningless post where everybody in the forum is trying to share valuable
information. My advice is this: if you have nothing serious to write keep your rubbish
to yourself.

I don't need to tell you the bad experience you and I are going through in Nigeria when Nepa situation, sorry i mean PHCN situation is concerned. It's even got to the stage that Government don't know what to do to solve the problem. In fact there are so many alternatives to PHCN power supply. However, the only alternative that you and I know continue to make money for the suppliers of such business. it has even come to the stage that one has started thinking along the line of some people who believe that Fed Govt is doing politics with power supply. This class of people believes that if govt is being sincere with nepa situation we could have got solution to the problem. They believe that some power brokers are making cool money from the business of selling mechanical generator that you and I know like the back of our hand.

However, the question that continue to border my mind is that is mechanical generator the best alternative to power problem in Nigeria considering the disturbing noise it always generates, the cost of fueling, and servicing it. I'm sure you will want to know more about this topic and also make contribution to this thread, please visit www.powerseminar.netfirms.com and let me here from you.
