Why is he tweeting his message to them when he should be on ground as PDP head and presidential candidate to campaign vigorously for his party? Tomorrow he will say Peter Obi slashed/halved his vote.

Obi was on ground for his party, that way he campaigned for his party and also campaigned for his 2027 election bid. I think Atiku is tired and should have retired honorably but I think he is choosing to retire dishonorably!

In the US, the office of the vice president has fleets of private jets at its diposal. I am not talk of Air Force One. Also does, the US secretary of States (Blinken) and so does most minitries (they call them department instead of ministry as we call them in Nigeria) in the US.

I think Nigeria should replicate such. Buy jets for every ministry and department of the federal govt including state govts, and when Naira finally hits NGN5000 to a dollar, our body go tell am!

You seriously think Dino can amount to much in APC under a Tinubu Presidency?🧐🧐. Recall that in the recent past he taunted Senator (Mrs.) Tinubu on the floor of the Senate and brought opprobrium to womanhood by sexually harassing and bullying her when he said he would have and make her pregnant! The resultant trauma she experienced must have been indescribable!

Kekere-Ekun upturned the decisions of the lower Court and tribunal, thereby preparing and delivering the judgement that sacked Emeka Ihedioha and affirmed Odidika Hope Uzodinma as Governor of Imo State.

Her antecedent speaks for her. She give us the supreme court governor currently misruling Imo State!

"Ukraine is too small for him", you say yet they haven't been able to win over them. Excerpt you are in denial, Russia have already lost the war!
Whether they win or lose, they have actually lost because, at the moment, they have destroyed their economy, their military and have also proven to the world that the world does not need Russia anymore.
Even with the war, the price of oil and gas (Russia's bargaining chips/commodity) is still moderately priced.
Putin your Nigga messed up and I'm sure he knows that now. He is just looking for ways to save face by recently visiting all these religious centers to show solidarity while secretly wishing he never started the war and looking for ways to end it!

That woman is a chief manipulator! You said a lot but ending up saying nothing. Only God know the level of pain and hurt that man have endured from marrying her!

She lives in Europe where the law seems to favor the female more. I bet you, the officers in Europe knows their case and may have warned her severally being the reason she waited for them to enter Nigeria before she acts out her wickedness.

As for the man, tearing your passport is a ground for divorce, depending on your lawyer, her action is a ground for you to get full custody of the children (why would she deliberately want to deny the kids access to their father. She is hostile and can resort to violence with her uncontrollable anger) while she pays you child support. But whatever action you take is up to you, at least you are more aware of the extent of your supposed wife's love towards you!

These people just dey find money any how!
First they came up with cyber levy, that one failed!
Currently they bullied the banks and are taxing them a whole 70% on profit made from FX.
Now, they want to dig their dirty hands into unclaimed funds with the banks.
This is criminality and another bullying of banks. The money was given to the banks on trust and not the CBN.
The business trust/exchange/agreement was between the banks and the customer and never with the CBN.
The CBN should concentrate with their function of regulating the banks and not digging their hands into customers deposit.
I know someone would say, the bill for such act has been passed or signed into law by the national assembly!
Signing it into law does not preclude the criminality of such act. CBN, hands off our money!
The Nigerian banks including the association of lawyers should fight this else it will encourage the govt to pass unilateral laws that wouldn't be challenged by the citizens.

Business / Re: Senate Increases Banks’ Windfall Levy To 70% by pipnator00(m): 8:45pm On Jul 24
mfm04622:

There is a reason this type of tax has a name! It is a windfall tax. Nigeria will not be the first country to tax companies that makes extra profit due to circumstances beyond normal operations. So, it is no criminal.
The govt is trying to make up taxes they lost to manufacturing companies declaring loses due to FX issues.

Calling it Windfall tax or whatever does not justify the taxation. Its simply a mafia style taxation and a punishment on the banks for doing God's work!

If myself and yourself is playing soccer, and I mistakenly slip and fall and you take advantage of my fall to score a goal against me, will the goal be cancelled because of my fall? The answer is NO!

The govt naively created the loophole for the banks to make such profit. Floating the Naira is a good idea but they should have run a stress test of such policy, find and block any loophole inherent in it before rushing to passing such policy.

The govt should count their loss, learn the lesson from their naivety and let the banks be. As if the 50% they are already taxing the bank wasn't enough, they increased it to 70%.

Moreover it's not like they are gonna use the money recovered from such taxation to impact positively of the citizens rather, its there for them to loot.
Business / Re: Senate Increases Banks’ Windfall Levy To 70% by pipnator00(m): 5:39pm On Jul 24
My opinion.. I see this as criminality on the part of the govt! Banks just like every other business is out to make profit for its shareholders and
they will do that in whatever way or loophole available to them.

Currency speculation and trading is what the investment banking arm of every bank does and making profits out of the the ill advised floating of the naira by this government is just one of the available loophole. This windfall tax can only be described as one thing, punishment and mafia style taxation on these banks.

The government should simply take their L and learn never to issue policies without seriously running a stress test of the policy before its issued. This mafia style taxation will send a wrong signal to the wider investment community both locally and internationally.

Plus in case of next time, this mafia style taxation will push the banks into a smarter way of cooking their books/report and never report such profits to the public anymore.

Foreign Affairs / Re: USA - Saudi Petrodollar Pact Ends After 50 Years by pipnator00(m): 2:19pm On Jul 01
This isn't true! No such agreement to trade Saudi Oil exclusively with US Dollar was reach by both countries.
You quoted your source as Nasdaq, provide the link the to the article..? Even the US themselves has denied such agreement.

Almiron:
The 50-year-old petrodollar agreement between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia was just allowed to expire. The term “petrodollar” refers to the U.S. dollar’s role as the currency used for crude oil transactions on the world market.

This arrangement has its roots in the 1970s when the United States and Saudi Arabia struck a deal shortly after the U.S. went off the gold standard that would go on to have far-reaching consequences for the global economy.

In the history of global finance, few agreements have wielded as many benefits as the petrodollar pact did for the U.S. economy.

The petrodollar agreement, formalized after the 1973 oil crisis, stipulated that Saudi Arabia would price its oil exports exclusively in U.S. dollars and invest its surplus oil revenues in U.S. Treasury bonds.

In return, the U.S. provided military support and protection to the kingdom. This arrangement was a win-win situation for both; the U.S. gained a stable source of oil and a captive market for its debt, while Saudi Arabia secured its economic and overall security.

However, the petrodollar’s dominance may be facing its most significant challenge yet. The agreement between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia expired on June 9, 2024. This expiration has far-reaching implications, as it has the potential to disrupt the global financial order.

The shifting power dynamics in the oil market are a critical factor in this development. The rise of alternative energy sources, such as renewables and natural gas, has reduced the world’s reliance on oil.

Furthermore, the emergence of new oil-producing nations, such as Brazil and Canada, has challenged the traditional dominance of the Middle East.

The petrodollar’s expiration could weaken the U.S. dollar and, by extension, the U.S. financial markets. If oil were to be priced in a currency other than the dollar, it could lead to a decline in global demand for the greenback. This, in turn, could result in higher inflation, higher interest rates, and a weaker bond market in the United States.

The expiration of the petrodollar agreement represents a significant shift in global power dynamics. It highlights the growing influence of emerging economies and the changing energy landscape.

While the full implications of this shift remain to be seen, investors should at least be aware that on a macro level, the global financial order is entering a new era. The U.S. dollar’s dominance is no longer guaranteed.

I think you are an IDIOT! Prisons serves as a reformatory home for the prisoners, not to further punish them!

Moreover in other climes where the prisoners are allowed to work, they are paid only that they wouldn't have access to the money paid until they complete their sentence.

Advocating to use prisoners as slave laborers is tantamount to anarchy and abuse. In just one month of starting that system, our prisons will be filled to the brim because rich people will embark of mass incarceration of the poor masses just so they'd have access to free laborers/workers.

Tinubu took inflation rate from 22% to over 33% in just 1 year. That's over 10% in just one year.

Going by the precedent he has set, by the end of his 4 years, inflation will be at over 60% and if he succeeds in doing a full 8yrs tenure then we are looking at over 100% inflation rate! TOO BAD!

Guys, its gonna be rugged. As that lady said, keep your dollar close to you!

For the fact that they haven't been creative with generating dollars/fx to the economy and have only relied on borrowing should tell you, its gonna be rough. Actually very rough
