Mynd44: You are right. One of the reasons Egypt is building a new capital from ground up is to prevent what happened that led to regime change. A way to protect future governments.
Nigeria did something similar when we moved the capital city from Lagos to Abuja. It was a way to shield governments from coups and the likes.
It kind of worked though as Nigeria has only experienced one coup since moving the capital to Abuja What coup was that? |

No governor is performing in Nigeria if you want to go by real world examples of performance. They are all 100% corrupt mediocre, just that some of them still have a little bit of conscience while most don't really care and are there for self interest. You mean the Kwara governor who spent 14 billion in 2024 and 13 billion in 2025 to renovate Kwara hotels is your example of performance. |

Kaiser20: Meanwhile, Nigerians are preparing to JAPA to the USA claiming that they need Health workers badly The people getting sacked are office workers working for the federal government not doctors and nurses, there is always the need for doctors and nurses in the US so the japa crew are not totally incorrect. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Trump Administration Starts Mass Layoffs At Health Agencies by planetx: 1:11pm On Apr 02, 2025 |
100,000 federal workers sacked and counting, the goal is to reduce wages across board and help his fellow oligarchs. If you were fired from a federal job your next point of call is the private sector, now there is excess available workers all looking for private sector jobs so automatically it is an employer market so wages will go down because desperate people will accept low wages. |

codemaniacs: before the br:itish left Nigeria, the Br:itish from 1820 - 1960 did not build one university, our number of primary and secondary schools were very low, br:itish did not build smooth roads all over Nigeria , no housing estates, no plans for clean water for communities, no hospitals, no universities, no teaching hospitals, no vocational centers, no power plants, majority of the private companies where owned by the br:itish and they only gave Nigerians clerical work which is what the education system they gave us is meant to produce office assistants.
All the developments you see in Nigeria today from Abuja to lagos to calabar to Akwa-ibom to oyo to Enugu e.t.c are all built by Nigerians, our parents, our grand parents e.t.c the br:itish left Nigeria to rot. Everything you had and have the privilege of enjoying in Nigeria was and is through the hardwork of parents, grand parents, and other Nigerians.
the bri:tish leave the people more devastated than they earlier met them. If not for the hardwork and peaceful nature of our ancestors in southern Nigeria, southern Nigerians will be in poverty because the bri:tish created Nigeria in a way where Northern and Southern Nigeria will engage in endless wars...
after over 140 years in Nigeria.. the british did nothing for Nigeria and Nigerians.. This is why I am always amazed when you read comments here on NL like the British should come back and colonized us again. I don't know if that comes from willful ignorance or just systematic brainwashing. |

Dangote, Otedola, Adenuga money is a mega wealth that involves huge credit owing not liquid cash. What do you mean by credit owing vs liquid cash? MemoriesAndMe: Ive lived in the West for more than 20 years now and can compare between how it's done here vs in Nigeria. The second man saw that man being checked by the first guy and wants to do same thing again. Why the repetitive tasks? So if it's 100 of them that wants to check your bags,he's supposed to allow each them to do that? Hell no, a tired person from a long flight would definitely get angry over that.
I've had to go through that crap where almost 10 people asked me to open up my luggage in Lagos each time, each ransacking my bags. It's no like that in the US. Your bags are scanned and checked in and nobody asks you to open them. As soon as you get to Lagos is when each of them want you to open your bags and show them the contents. They know ure already tired after the long flight and will prefer you give them some money so they don't stress you anymore. US customs will sometimes open your bags after you have cleared immigration, don't come here and tell us it doesn't happen in the US. |

Ojady: On the one hand, the first customs officer, probably was new on the job, grateful to God, he is working in a job many are struggling to get into or probably an esprit de corps kinda of guy who once he recognized the dude was an officer, simply let him be. Even his questions were not altogether hostile. His part is commendable.
The returnee soldier in mufti: he started well, I mean not wanting to show off his military status but then, this is Nigeria, the only language majority regard is money and power. The Nigerian officials may have seen the prescription drugs in the bag or noticed his tense non-verbals and that may have set them off thinking make we try our luck. But Soldier boy was having none of that. Mentioning they were being recorded was a power move, a tardy bit unnecessary though which explains why making 'content' became an issue.. Long story short, wear your uniform, if not wear your hat, display your dog tags, your military ID and they would back off. No evidence he was a soldier pls, having camo in your luggage coming from the US doesn't make you a soldier automatically. Did he showed any ID, you can buy camouflage from a freaking 7 11 so what is so special about being a soldier. |

True talk, if a white man in a US airport ask for his passport especially in this Trump no nonsense era he would have been shaking and saying yes sir and would have never dare to film ICE or DEA agents at a US airport. I know how Africans relate to oyinbo abroad. His attitude was condescending because black people generally don't respect each other. |
