I was discussing the condition of Nigeria with an Ikwerre elderly man on Monday and that was the first day I discovered the uncontrollable hatred these people has for igbos.

I found out that these people are rarely exposed that they relied on whatever lies their coward father told them about the biafra - nigeria war which created the hatred, I called their father a coward because according to his story that made him hate igbos is that during the Civil War he was grown up enough to join the biafra army but his mother concealed him when the biafra soldiers came to their house to take him to join the war which I already learnt was a policy then that one male child of each family that was up to a certain age must join the army and it's applicable to the whole biafran states.

So as the soldiers found out that the mother hid him they tried threatening the woman which was fruitless so they flogged the woman and still she refused bringing him out but they left.

What the man now tells his children is that what igbos were doing; during the war was to come to every Ikwerre household and forcefully take away their male child and go and bury them alive without him telling his children that igbos weren't the only producers of the biafran soldiers.

According to Colonel Achuzia's (A Deltan who was a high rank officer of the biafran army) novel on his personal account of the war, he mentioned this policy exactly as the Ikwerre coward elderly man said it, Achuzia gave an account on how his squad went to different families in anambra, enugu and others to forcefully recruit new teenage boys whenever the military went shortage on manpower.

Achuzia said that he only gave them a maximum of two days training and start using them as soldiers thus, many lost their lives because of lack of adequate training and war experience, he said that he always wept whenever he was training the new recruits because he knew they weren't ready but he had no option as he was following the policy. This is where he said that if it had been that biafra had at least one month of training before the war started that they would've dealt with Nigerian army so much.

Achuzia is from asaba in delta state o! So can you see what damage a single lie from an Ikwerre coward father to his children is causing to the whole tribe?

I tried to educate these timid set of people but looking into their eyes I believed they can kill, I had to smartly changed the topic to be alive (always beware on how you argue with an Ikwerre man whenever you are in Port harcourt!)

Could you imagine my 34 years old Ikwerre landlord have never travelled to bayelsa the neighbouring state of his; since he was born? Even his barrister brother who only travelled to North for his NYSC and came back last year,

they don't travel to live, mingle and learn about other people's way of life, they believe what their ignorant fathers told them that ibos hate them but while I was in the east igbos always liked and regards anybody from rivers as super humans and treat them with high prestige (port harcourt first son, nwa port) without knowing they're so timid.

Seriously, graduates that I have met in other SS, SE, SW, and even northern states are usually updated, smart and intelligent but most of their port harcourt counterparts are so dull and timid which made me believe they only attended university just to learn how to read and write without improving their reasoning and wisdom.

I lived in PH for years and I can say that you're correct.

There's no where in the world where the youths are as criminally minded as ikwerre youths. Robbery, cultism, rape, looting etc.

They're the laziest tribe I've ever seen. Despite the advantage given to them (ikwerre youths are favoured when seeking admission in universities in rivers state), they're still poorly educated. All they want is just own a small house, sit down and collect rent till they die.
