ValeignNurt: Like think about it, if an organization say they need some hires, and can go one year without the new hires, in this era of capitalism, what is the motivation for them to employ them anymore. After all, they can achieve the same output with their current work force. If you don't have a valid information from a reliable source just sit it out. Don't give wrong information based on gut feelings. It's not smart. If you have valid information from a reliable source it is welcome. |

You were talking as if you are HR. I reached out to someone inside and he explained this delay is due to internal reorganisation. So if you don't have a valid source it's best to just sit it out rather than dishing out information based on gut feelings. |

Alaprom: Indeed, apparently you ain't the only one in this situation. Came across a post on twitter where a candidate was asking people to help beg Chevy to conclude the recruitment of more than a year. I think he's one of the earliest to do medicals. All same, this wasn't expected from an IOC like Chevron and like you rightly mentioned, recruitment process can be a red flag about a company's culture. ExxonMobil started a recruitment in July and concluded by Sept. Peeps resumed in Oct-this month. A company's culture>>>> Can you share the tweet's link? |

seriousbaby: Is this one recruitment or mockery? Imagine if one had zeal to work here, with the way they are treating us even before employment, this can really kill the passion in even the most passionate ones amongst us. For H sake, more than a year and recruitment is not yet concluded. This made me drop the ball for Chevron honestly. Used to respect them a lot, not so much lately Honestly the waiting period is something else. It's over a year and recruitment is still not concluded. I did interview almost two months ago and nothing has been said about it. I reached out to several guys too who did same interview for the operator position they said nothing has been heard. This is not ideal for an IOC like Chevron. They should have planned this recruitment better. |

Which makes me believe that Background mail for various positions can start coming in from next week or upper. I guess they paused the engineers recruitment(August batch last year) to enable these operator recruitment (October batch last year) catch up. I think the idea is everyone will resume same time which I strongly believe will happen October/ November this year Exactly. I think so too. |

Politics › Re: A Professor Of What? Soludo's Embarrassing Statement On Sabmiller's Investment by pneumatikos: 2:00pm On Jul 19, 2025 |
Slawoomir: From my shallow understanding then, it means the Brewery Obi brought to Anambra is earning dividends to the state in three folds (or even more);
1. Tax income 2. Income from Shares 3. Indirect taxation from employee tax and impact of operations (logistics, supply chain etc)
Your statement even validates Obi's investment choice more and more.
Looking at the bigger picture, the said ₦300M may just be a percentage of the total financial dividends the Brewery attracts monthly to Anambra.
If that's the case, Obi is a genius! He used one stone to kill multiple birds.
Maybe I'm just naive, what do i know?.... Politics won't let them understand. It's true that a biased mind can't see to reasoning. |
Politics › Re: A Professor Of What? Soludo's Embarrassing Statement On Sabmiller's Investment by pneumatikos: 1:56pm On Jul 19, 2025 |
gidigbam1: Let me help break this down:
Anambra State invested $30 million USD in the brewery project, an amount that was equivalent to approximately ₦48 billion at the time.
Today, the value of those shares in SABMiller (now owned by AB InBev) has dropped to less than $3 million USD. This means the original ₦48 billion investment is now worth less than ₦4.8 billion. In essence, Anambra State has lost about $27 million USD or over ₦45 billion.
Now that Anambra is earning ₦300 million annually from that investment, it would take roughly 160 years for Anambra State to recover its initial $30 million investment.
Tell me how that type of investment makes any sense!!! People really need to stop pushing this false narrative about Peter Obi’s investment in the brewery. The facts are very clear, but because of politics, some people just dey twist the story anyhow. First of all, Anambra State did not even invest up to $30 million like they are claiming everywhere. The actual amount was between $12 million to $20 million at the time. Secondly, that investment wasn’t just about profit alone, the brewery is still very much active today, creating jobs for Anambra people, paying taxes to the state, and generating annual dividends of about ₦100 million to ₦300 million. So tell me, how exactly is that a “bad investment”? Abi make government pack the money put for one corner dey look am? 🙄 Also, all this talk about “160 years to recover the investment” no make sense. Investments are not calculated like that. Public investments are about long-term value like job creation, tax revenue, economic growth - not just how fast you collect back your initial money. Let’s not allow all this propaganda deceive us. That brewery investment is still adding value to Anambra State till today. If e bad, e for don fold up since. Use your sense. Not every noise you hear online is the truth. 🚶🏽♂️🚶🏽♂️ |

lionshare: This is the problem: you don’t understand how owning shares in a public company works. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be insulting a professor. SabMiller is part of the International Breweries group, which is listed on the NGX. To understand Soludo’s position, you need to find out: • How many shares Anambra owns in International Breweries, • The current valuation of these shares, • And how this compares to the amount originally invested. If you do this, you’ll understand why you’re wrong on many fronts. You haven't explained anything here. Give us breakdowns, talk with facts. |
