("Eulogy" for Buhari)

They say the General’s gone to rest,
A patriot true, who “did his best.”
Eight years of silence, smirks, and blunders,
Now we can breathe — well, after the plunders.

Hail the man who fought corruption!
(Unless your surname sparked eruption.)
Saint of nepotism, North’s sole knight,
Who ruled with tribal oversight.

Oh, how the debts did proudly soar!
Loans upon loans — who asked for more?
Railways to nowhere, budgets gone blind,
And power grids that lost their mind.

Remember when peace meant mass graves?
Farmers hacked, schoolgirls enslaved.
Bandits danced while soldiers snored,
And service chiefs got well-rewarded.

Economy? He waved a wand —
And poof! your naira lost its bond.
Jobs fled fast like Chibok’s girls,
While hunger dug its fatal curls.

Security, he swore, would reign.
Instead, we prayed through endless pain.
From Kaduna to Borno’s ash,
Peace was just a faded flash.

Oh, Umaru Dikko, boxed in crates,
A fitting start to power’s taste.
And Mazi Kanu, chained and flown,
Because dissent can’t have a throne.

Boko Haram? They had a run.
ISWAP too, just joined the fun.
But no, we must not criticize —
"Go to court," or just apologize.

Inflation bloomed, like spring in hell.
You bought a loaf? You might as well
Have sold a kidney, pawned your soul,
To eat beneath a leaking pole.

Dear Baba Go-Slow, rest in state,
The nation mourns — or maybe waits
To see if somehow, in the grave,
You'll do the work you never gave.

History will be kind, they plead.
But monuments of rot still bleed.
You left a legacy so grand —
Of broken hearts and looted land.

So sleep, O General, take your ease,
With ghosts of your APC breeze.
You left us battered, broke, and bruised —
A “messiah” we never really used.

A patriot. A saint.
Who “did his best.”
(Spoiler alert — his best nearly buried us all.)

Eight years of slow motion,
Of silence mistaken for wisdom,
Of blunders dressed in agbada,
While the country bled… without anesthesia.

They hailed him —
Fighter of corruption!
(As long as your surname didn’t end in “Daura”).
Nepotism? No problem.
Just call it "strategic federal character."

He loaned our future to China,
Signed off our grandchildren’s backbone.
Infrastructure? Ah yes —
The potholes now have their own zip codes.
You build one bridge, and break ten systems.
Brilliant math. Nobel-worthy, even.

And peace?
More Nigerians died in “peace time”
than Ukraine saw in war.
But don’t worry —
You could always “Go and die quietly,”
Like the farmers in Benue,
Or the students in Chibok,
Or the villagers who became hashtags…
And forgotten.

Remember?
Bandits got walkie-talkies,
While we got “thoughts and prayers.”
Kidnappers got bold,
And the state got cold.

Umaru Dikko packed in a crate like yam.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu?
Dragged across borders like contraband.
But they said it was justice.
(If you squint hard… in the dark… on a good day.)

And the economy?
Oh, sweet naira.
Collapsed like a three-legged chair in a hurricane.
Inflation danced.
Salaries wept.
And every market woman became a finance analyst overnight.

Fuel queues longer than sermons,
Power cuts sharper than betrayal.
And he?
He just smiled… in silence,
From some foreign hospital bed
— funded by taxpayers who die in local clinics.

Boko Haram had their fun.
ISWAP brought drums.
The North trembled,
The South watched.
And Nigeria,
She staggered… still trying to stand.

So yes…
They say the General sleeps.
Good. Let him.

But don’t ask us to mourn.

We lost time.
We lost trust.
We lost hope.

And now, finally — we lose him.

Let history write its own obituary.
But we?
We remember the hunger,
The silence,
The failure wrapped in medals and muted parades.
