How are we similar to the Yorubas? Yoruba that has no culture other than Ewedu and Amala, Agbada and Adire? Urhobo is similar to Igbo in cultural practices, though not same with Igbo either in language or traditional practices.

You need to understand that Urhobo, Edo and the Anioma fought to break out of old western region due to differences in culture, and plan by Yoruba to assimilate them.

The only tribe similar to Yoruba is Itsekiri and they frustrated the breakaway moves (to leave old western region) by other ethnic groups in Midwest Nigeria. Why? Itsekiri knew that once the Midwest is created, they will become irrelevant. And truly, they were politically irelevant in Bendel politics and in Delta politics.

As an Urhobo man, I don't understand Yoruba, and Yoruba man can't understand me. We don't have similar culture with Yoruba, not in marriage practices, welcoming of visitors; our foods are different, our names are different, our mindsets are different, our traditional wears are different, etc. So what is the link?

The only tribe similar to Urhobo is Isoko.
