Education / Re: Why I Think Degree Education Is Overrated In Nigeria - Michael Roman by PontiffMaximus: 5:06pm On May 21, 2016
Firstly, a good school can inculcate entrepreneurship ideas in you. (thats the reason for the introduction of entrepreneurship studies in Nigerian universities recently.)
Now, going to school without a clear motive is as good as not going.
when i was still an undergraduate, we had students in final year, Information Technology that couldn't even use a computer.
Note that, the reason Gate, Zuckerberg and the rest dropped out, wasn't because they didn't value education, it was because they saw a greater opportunity and school then became a hindrance.
if in their shoes i would do the same.

Foreign Affairs / FBI Released A Document Proving Adolf Hitler And Eva Braun Fled To Argentina In by PontiffMaximus: 3:01pm On May 06, 2016
The FBI.gov website reveals the government knew Hitler was alive and well, and living in the Andes Mountains long after World War II had ended.

The world has been told for the last 70 years that on April 30 1945, Adolf Hitler committed suicide in his underground bunker. His body was discovered and identified by the Soviets before being taken back to Russia. Is it possible that the Soviets lied all this time, and that history was rewritten?

With the release of these FBI documents, it certainly seems that the most notorious leader in history escaped Germany and lived a peaceful life in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in South America.
And as if that news wasn’t bizarre enough, a photo has emerged recently which purports to show an elderly 95-year-old Hitler posing with his girlfriend in Brazil in 1984.
Recently released FBI documents are beginning to show that not only was Hitler and Eva Braun’s suicide faked, the infamous pair might have had help from the director of the OSS himself, Allen Dulles.

In one FBI document from Los Angles, it is revealed that the agency was well aware of a mysterious submarine making its way up the Argentinian coast dropping off high level Nazi officials. What is even more astonishing is the fact that the FBI knew he was in fact living in the foothills of the Andes.

Who is the Mysterious Informant?

In a Los Angeles letter to the Bureau in August of 1945, an unidentified informant agreed to exchange information for political asylum. What he told agents was stunning.

The informant not only knew Hitler was in Argentina, he was one of the confirmed four men who had met the German submarine. Apparently, two submarines had landed on the Argentinian coast, and Hitler with Eva Braun was on board the second.

The Argentinian government not only welcomed the former German dictator, but also aided in his hiding. The informant went on to not only give detailed directions to the villages that Hitler and his party had passed through, but also credible physical details concerning Hitler.

While for obvious reasons the informant is never named in the FBI papers, he was credible enough to be believed by some agents.

The FBI Tried to Hide Hitler’s Whereabouts.

Even with a detailed physical description and directions the FBI still did not follow up on these new leads. Even with evidence placing the German sub U-530 on the Argentinian coast shortly before finally surrounding, and plenty of eye witness accounts of German official being dropped off, no one investigated.

Even More Evidence is Found:

Along with the FBI documents detailing an eye witness account of Hitler’s whereabouts in Argentina, more evidence is coming to light to help prove that Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun did not die in that bunker.

In 1945, the Naval Attaché in Buenos Aires informed Washington there was a high probability that Hitler and Eva Braun had just arrived in Argentina. This coincides with the sightings of the submarine U-530. Added proof comes in the form of newspaper articles detailing the construction of a Bavarian styled mansion in the foothills of the Andes Mountains.

Further proof comes in the form of architect Alejandro Bustillo who wrote about his design and construction of Hitler’s new home which was financed by earlier wealthy German immigrants.

Irrefutable Evidence that Hitler Escaped:

Perhaps the most damming evidence that Hitler did survive the fall of Germany lies in Russia. With the Soviet occupation of Germany, Hitler’s supposed remains were quickly hidden and sent off to Russia, never to be seen again. That is until 2009, when an archeologist from Connecticut State, Nicholas Bellatoni was allowed to perform DNA testing on one of the skull fragments recovered.

What he discovered set off a reaction through the intelligence and scholarly communities. Not only did the DNA not match any recorded samples thought to be Hitler’s, they did not match Eva Braun’s familiar DNA either. So the question is, what did the Soviets discover in the bunker, and where is Hitler?

Even former general and President Dwight D. Eisenhower wrote to Washington.

It was not only General Eisenhower who was concerned over Hitler’s compete disappearance, Stalin also expressed his concerns. In 1945, the Stars and Stripes newspaper quoted then General Eisenhower as believing that the real possibility existed of Hitler living safely and comfortably in Argentina.

Is it Possible?

With all of the new found evidence coming to light, it is possible and even likely that not only did Hitler escape from Germany; he had the help of the international intelligence community. Released FBI documents prove that they were not only aware of Hitler’s presence in Argentina; they were also helping to cover it up.

It would not be the first time the OSS helped a high ranking Nazi official to escape punishment and capture. Look at the story of Adolf Eichmann who was located in Argentina in the 1960’s.

Did Hitler escape to Argentina? The answer is yes.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 100 Top Job Interview Questions - See Answers In Comments!!! Drop Yours!!!! by PontiffMaximus: 5:18pm On Mar 13, 2016
How to answer the interview question ‘What salary are you seeking?’

There may not be a job interview question more sensitive than “What salary do you want?”

Not only is it hard for many people to talk about money, but the wrong answer can instantly knock you out of the running or lock you into earning less than you deserve.

“Salary inquiries are often loaded questions because of the implications they could spell for both the job seeker and the employer,” says former human resources professional Jennifer Lee Magas, now vice president of Magas Media Consultants in Fairfield County, Connecticut. “While not all first interviews will ask about salary, money is going to come up at some point.”

And when the question does come up, be prepared to answer it well and with confidence by keeping these suggestions in mind.

Delay the conversation

If you can, push the conversation about salary until the end of the interview. “The later in the process you talk about money, the more time you have to demonstrate your professional value to the interviewer before salary negotiation begins,” Pearl says.

Show the interviewer your skills and worth by explaining your accomplishments before discussing salary, Magas says. “You need to convince them that the work you’ve done and are capable of doing warrants greater compensation because of its value and your value.” By swaying the conversation away from salary and toward your skills you can show you’re a good fit for the company, and by the time they bring up salary again, they may be willing to offer more than they would have earlier.

You can also delay the salary conversation by asking more about the job requirements, says Katie Donovan, founder of the Massachusetts-based company Equal Pay Negotiations. State that you want a competitive package to show you’ve done your research, then ask about the travel requirements or other job responsibilities.

You say: “I’m looking for a competitive package that takes into account benefits and other forms of compensation, but I’d like to know a little more about the job requirements first.”

Turn the question around on the interviewer

Once you get toward the end of the interview, start by trying to get the interviewer to tip his hand first, Pearl says. Ask the what the range is for the job or ask to hear the interviewer’s best offer.

“The goal is to get them to mention their ideal range first since that will put you at an advantage for negotiations,” Magas says.

You say: “In general, I expect a salary that’s consistent with current employees at the same level. I think I can be a great asset to this company, and if you agree, I’d love to hear your offer.”

Show that you’ve done your homework

If, however, they clearly want you to name a price, be respectful and professional and give a range, Magas says. “Indicating a refusal to answer and cooperate will likely create a bad impression and cost you the opportunity.”

You should have done some research before the interview to find out the common salary range for your position and level of experience, says Steve Langerud, a workplace culture consultant based in Grinnell, Iowa. But beware of regional differences. Langerud says one of his clients pitched a salary that was reasonable on the West Coast where she was from, but far out of range for the Midwestern employer she was applying to. Later she found out that had kicked her out of the running.

Compare that to what you really want, and have some numbers in mind before the interview, “Part of answering this question is having a clear idea of what you want and what you’ll accept,” says Andrew Pearl, certified resume writer and interview coach with Precision Resumes in Orlando, Florida.

Don’t shoot too high thinking they will negotiate down to their ceiling—Langerud’s client found out the consequences of that. On the other hand, you don’t want to aim low because you think they will correct you and offer more. You might end up with a low-ball offer that’s going to leave you feeling underpaid and unhappy with your job, Magas says.

The most direct reply is to tell them exactly what you want within the range that seems reasonable based on your research.

You say: “What I’m really looking for is something in the range of $70,000 to $75,000. I believe that’s the range this company pays for my level of employment, and it’s a range I’m comfortable with.”

How to answer the job interview question ‘Sell me this pencil’

You’re sitting in a job interview ready to answer any question the hiring manager has about your qualifications and why you’re a great fit for the job. Then he holds up his writing instrument and says, “Sell me this pencil.”

This request is nearly as old as the job interview itself. It’s a simple question—typically geared toward candidates for sales positions— but it can be difficult to answer. And you might be surprised to learn what the interviewer is hoping to hear.

“Most interviewers are screening for confidence and cogency,” says Brett Cenkus, a Texas-based business consultant and lawyer who has trained sales professionals. In general, interviewers use ts question to get a feel for your sales style and experience, he adds.

There are a few guidelines pros like Cenkus suggest you follow when crafting your response:

Ask questions, lots and lots of questions

The answer made famous in the movie The Wolf of Wall Street—in which stockbroker Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) asks a friend to sell him a pen. The friend takes the pen and asks Belfort to write his name down on a napkin. Belfort says he can’t, he doesn’t have a pen, and the friend says, “exactly”—is actually not the best approach in this real-life situation.

In fact, Belfort told Piers Morgan on CNN in 2014 that the best salespeople will ask questions before they try to sell anything.

Other experts agree the best response is one that starts with plenty of questions.

“An ideal response to a question like this would be for the sales rep to start asking penetrating questions about me and my business that would help them identify whether or not I really need a pencil in the first place,” says Christopher Searles, president of New York-based Searles Media, who interviews sales candidates on a weekly basis. “Being able to successfully identify a prospect’s needs is the single most important—and often most overlooked—aspect of being a good salesperson.”

By asking questions, you can sell the pencil, not as a commodity, but as a solution to the buyer’s problem.

You say: “I’d like to understand your needs surrounding pencils. What are you currently using to write with? Where do you most often use this writing instrument and what types of things do you normally write? Are you happy with your current writing tools? If you were to consider another vendor for your writing implements, what would be important to you?”

Understand their needs—pivot if necessary

You’re selling the pencil, and you ask the interviewer, “What are you currently using to write with?” His response is, “Nothing, I never write.” What do you do next?

“Don’t be afraid to say, ‘Oh, sounds like you’re not in the market for the pencil I’m selling. Do you know anyone who is?’” Cenkus says. “Don’t waste time pitching to people who don’t have any use for what you’re selling.”

Unless you’re hoping to irritate someone into buying your pencil, don’t keep pushing when the buyer says he doesn’t need one.

You say: Since you have no use for this pencil I’m selling, is there someone else in your company who might need one?

Keep the conversation going

Plan your conversation to avoid dead ends. One common trap: Starting your sales pitch by rattling off all wonderful qualities of the pencil. “The worst thing you could do in response to this question is to start selling me first without determining if you have something of value to offer me,” Searles says.

Plus, after you list all the good things about the pencil, ask the interviewer if he wants to buy it, and he says no, you’ve run out of things to say, Cenkus says. Most applicants fizzle after this happens.

It’s OK to fake your confidence a bit to keep the conversation flowing. That beats sitting in silence. “The worst thing an interviewee can do is not try,” Cenkus says.

Farmer agrees. “The interviewer would see that as someone who is easily rattled and has the potential to fall apart in an unexpected situation.”

You say: “Well, I’m sure we can find the right product to meet your needs. Would you like to review this pen? It’s actually an upgrade from the pencil.”

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Answer The Job Interview Question, ‘what’s The Most Difficult Decision... by PontiffMaximus: 10:59am On Mar 13, 2016
How to answer the job interview question, ‘What’s the most difficult decision you’ve made and how did you come to that decision?’

When an interviewer asks, “What’s the most difficult decision you’ve made and how did you come to that decision?” the person is giving you a gift. This is a golden opportunity to show exactly you’d perform as a worker under a new boss.

The interviewer wants to know how you’d handle challenging and stressful situations and how strong your critical thinking skills are, says Jody Michael, founder and CEO of Chicago and Atlanta-based Jody Michael Associates. “Describe how you effectively approached the challenge, how you weighed the options and how you reached your decision,” she says.

Get this one right and you’ll score some major points. Of course, you’ll have a few difficult decisions to make right there in the interview room in answering the question. We’ll help you tell a story that will knock the interviewer’s socks clean off.

1. Pick the right challenge
This is your chance to show that you’re up to the task of making good decisions in challenging situations. So start with a story that shows you were successful in solving a tough problem—and that shows a positive result for your boss and the business. (Stick to a work story, by the way. While all of us face challenges in our personal lives, they won’t have as much relevance to the job at hand.)

“And whatever example you use, make sure it highlights a strength you would bring to the role,” Michael says. “For example, your flexibility and ability to navigate change, negotiating skills, or perseverance.”

Your first move is to lay out exactly what the challenge was, and why it was important for the department.

You say: “In my previous position, I was in charge of selecting vendors to print our promotional materials. We have a long-time vendor we’ve been working with for over a decade. However, for one of our biggest print jobs of the year, another vendor came in with a lower bid.”

2. Discuss how you weighed the options
The interviewer is interested in learning how you think. Put yourself in her shoes. Any job comes with problems, and she wants to know that you’ll be purposeful and careful in weighing the options.

So your second part of the answer is to give a glimpse into the thought process you went through.

You say: “I didn’t want to take the work away from a vendor with whom we did so much business with, but I couldn’t justify picking them out of loyalty if someone else was doing the same job for less money. So I told the old vendor frankly about the other bid to hear what they had to say, and I also solicited references from the new vendor to see if their work matched that of what we had been getting.”

3. Tell the interviewer what choice you made
Make like Houdini and dazzle your audience with the reveal. Tell the interviewer what choice you came to.

You say: “Our long-time vendor was able to bring down their bid. They actually did the job for less than the new vendor would have, so we ended up saving some money.”

Crime / Central African Republic Conflict 'part-funded By European Firms'. by PontiffMaximus: 11:15pm On Jul 15, 2015
Its no longer a new thing that most of the WARS and conflicts in africa where and are funded by the people of the western world. for their selfish interest.

European timber companies have helped fund the war in the Central African Republic through lucrative deals with militia groups, campaign group Global Witness alleges in a new report.

The companies paid millions of dollars to rebel groups accused of war crimes, the report says.

It accuses the EU of failing to stop imports of illegal timber to Europe.

Thousands of people have been killed in the conflict which followed a coup by the Seleka rebel group in March 2013.

Timber companies from France, Lebanon and China paid more than $4m (£2.5m) to rebels in 2013, mainly for protection services, the report says.

Rebels on all sides of the conflict have been accused by the UN of mass murder, kidnappings, rapes and the forced recruitment of child soldiers.

BBC Africa Live: News updates

The report also criticises the EU for failing to seize any timber coming from the CAR since the start of the conflict, despite European regulations against illegal timber.

Europe accounts for nearly two-thirds of timber exports from the CAR, and companies in France, Germany and Belgium have all been trading in the commodity, it says.

"It is tragically ironic that while European governments invested hundreds of millions of euros in military and peacekeeping operations in CAR, those same governments have failed to keep conflict timber off EU markets," Alexandra Pardal, Campaign Leader for Global Witness said in a statement.

Former colonial ruler France deployed 1,600 troops to the country in 2013 in a bid to disarm the militias, and a 700-strong European peacekeeping mission to boost security in the capital Bangui ended in early 2015.

Some 12,000 international troops are still based in the country as part of the UN mission in the CAR.

Religion / 1500 Year Old Bible Claims Jesus Christ Was Not Crucified – Vatican In Awe by PontiffMaximus: 7:23pm On Mar 20, 2015
Much to the dismay of the Vatican, an approx.
1500-2000 year old bible was found in Turkey,
in the Ethnography Museum of Ankara.
Discovered and kept secret in the year 2000,
the book contains the Gospel of Barnabas – a
disciple of Christ – which shows that Jesus
was not crucified, nor was he the son of God,
but a Prophet. The book also calls Apostle
Paul “The Impostor”. The book also claims
that Jesus ascended to heaven alive, and that
Judas Iscariot was crucified in his place.
A report by The National Turk says that the
Bible was seized from a gang of smugglers in
a Mediterranean-area operation. The report
states the gang was charged with smuggling
antiquities, illegal excavations, and the
possession of explosives. The books itself is
valued as high as 40 Million Turkish Liras
(approx. 28 mil. Dollars). Man, where is the
Thieves Guild, when you need them?
Authenticity
According to reports, experts and religious
authorities in Tehram insist that the book is
original. The book itself is written with gold
lettering, onto loosely-tied leather in Aramaic,
the language of Jesus Christ. The text
maintains a vision similar to Islam,
contradicting the New Testament’s teachings
of Christianity. Jesus also foresees the
coming of the Prophet Muhammad, who would
found Islam 700 years later.
It is believed that, during the Council of Nicea,
the Catholic Church hand-picked the gospels
that form the Bible as we know it today;
omitting the Gospel of Barnabas (among
many others) in favor of the four canonical
gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Many biblical texts have begun to surface over
time, including those of the Dead Sea and
Gnostic Gospels; but this book especially,
seems to worry the Vatican.
The Catholic Church wants in
What does this mean to Christian-derived
religions and their followers? Quite a tight
spot. The Vatican has asked Turkish
authorities to let them examine the contents
of the book within the Church. Now that the
book has been found, will they come to accept
the it and its evidence? Will they deny it
altogether? Call it a “Muslim lie”, as did the
“Truth” Magazine, in 2000?
To many, this book is a beacon of hope, that
believers soon realize that the object of their
adoration is arbitrary; and that all text,
especially religious text, is subject to
interpretation.
What does this mean to atheists/agnostics/
secular thinkers? Is the text real? Fake?
Does it matter? Hopefully, this news inspires
the religious to ask questions, instead of
pointing fingers or believing anything blindly.
Please, don’t go poking fun or tossing around
the “I told you so!”s. The biggest danger of
faith is when people believe what they want to
believe, defending against any and all
evidence; especially when that evidence
revolutionizes their foundation from the
ground up. And the biggest culprit to that
danger is the ego trap: rejecting/criticizing
others, for being unlike you.
For centuries, the “defense” of blind faith has
driven nations to war, violence, discrimination,
slavery and to become the society of
automatons that we are today; and for just as
long, it has been justified with lies. If you
know better, act like it.
Thanks for your time.
Now… how do we figure out Jesus’ real birth
date? :/
