I think they can because some students have dual citizenship, some have other visas that may allow them school in the US etc. But, overall, I believe schools are reducing admission offers to the banned countries because it’s more or less a waste of limited admission slots when you give people that can’t attend because of the ban.
I sent my enquiries to Ohio State University and the reply was positive...they still admit students from visa banned countries.

Can Universities in the US still admit students from restricted countries amidst this visa ban?

There’s 75 countries on the ban list, and are all black and brown nations. I’m not a Tinubu supporter, he’s incompetent but you can’t put this on him. Trump is just racist, he want only white immigrants in America.
Amen. It shouldn’t have taken this long. I blame Tinubu and APC
There's only one thing he can do to get Nigeria off the ban, accepting third country deportees. US will fund their stay here in Nigeria but the Tinubu government rejected. Tinubu is completely incompetent.

Ban will surely be over.

With the recent massacre in Jos, the war in Iran solidifying trumps claim to tighter borders and BAT's growing moves to appease regions for 2027 moves, it's obvious Nigeria is not getting off that list this year.

Nigeria has no benefits to the USA in any regard whatsoever, and POTUS has three years with no reelection, so he has nothing to lose.
From the proclamation, I didn't see where Trump said Nigeria must tackle banditry and insurgency immediately before they will be lifted from the ban. The US is interested in countries that are willing to address their concerns and take pragmatic steps towards that. And how does the war in Iran negatively impact Nigeria's chances of getting off the ban? They can't expect a big change within just six months because things like this are hard to curb. I'm not saying Nigeria will be off the ban this year, but chances are that they will be lifted.

June is not feasible for this ban to be lifted, let's be honest with ourselves.

Abi no be US again, they will take their time.
Ghana was on the list in June or July and was removed from the ban by September. That's how productive government negotiations with the US can be. Turkmenistan also got their non-immigrant visa ban lifted within months of diplomatic talks. Nigeria is apparently addressing US security concerns. US troops and drones are in Nigeria now. So I STRONGLY believe Nigeria will be removed from the ban by June this year.

Please check out the screenshot straight from the US State Department website.

Please have they lifted the ban on F1 visa
Ban is still in place.
You'll hear from the government when it's lifted. Look elsewhere for now. The ban is expected to be reviewed in June and during this review, we expect Nigeria to be removed from the list like Turkmenistan if not already delisted by then. I have a strong conviction that Nigeria would be delisted before the visa application circle for Fall 2027 given the swift response from this administration.

OP, but this is about immigrant visa not non-immigrant like F1. It is for those affected after January 21 the news says... The elites and diplomats are the most affected by that ban, so they will take it more seriously.

The one for non-immigrant visa wasn't mentioned. That one started from January 1.

Let us just hope they can tackle everything once and for all.
Ma'am, the Nigerian top diplomat won't be seeking an immigrant visa, but rather nonimmigrant visas, since they'll be visiting, and their children will be studying abroad. The Asiwaju government plans to address both migrant and non-immigrant visa issues. Just be calming down. We'd be getting ready for our flight to US next year August.

So what I'm reading now means no F1 visa would be approved for someone from Nigeria even if one has secured a full scholarship to study for a PhD in the US? Does this mean no F1 visa processing is ongoing in the US embassy and Consulate in Nigeria now?

Hi Chibertha, long time. Hope you're doing great. I'm planning on applying for a PhD program in the US and could really use your expertise and guidance. There are some aspects of the application process that are peculiar to me, and I'd greatly appreciate your insight. Would it be possible for me to send you a DM to discuss further? I'd also love for you to review my Statement of Purpose and provide feedback on my overall application package if you're available and willing.

Hi everyone please all advise will be appreciated
I want to start my US study process, I studied intelligence and security study for BSC and graduated with 2.2, but for employment have been working in a business setting so far.
I recently got denied Canada visa
My sponsor is my older brother living in Us and he is married to a US citizen and also we don’t share same surname but we are related.
Please I would need advise in how to start and also schools that accept 2.2, and if it’s advisable to go for MBA and if it’s advisable for my brother to sponsor me. And please if there is a WhatsApp or telegram group as well for us study I will like to be added Thanks
2.2 won't determine your admission chances. Your actual GPA (e.g., 2.5, 2.3, etc.) is what matters. Instead of relying on sponsorship, consider taking the GRE (if feasible) to boost your profile. Then, apply to schools offering full funding for Master's and PhD programs in your course. Good luck! Which semester are you targeting?

Which consulate is this exactly. Because I had my own interview at the Lagos embassy yesterday morning, August 20th, and my visa was issued this morning August 21st, on my caec portal. Exactly 24hrs after my interview. Infact I was called to come and collect my passport today.
I've been expecting to read about your visa approval testimony, and I'm thrilled to finally hear the good news! Congratulations! Now, go ahead and book that business class flight with Qatar Airways.

Oga , it is obvious you didn't follow the war. Targets were hit in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and others. Even a high profile research and development centre was destroyed , a whole neighborhood in a city very close to Jerusalem was deserted. Do you think if isreal was immune to Iran 's missiles and drones Isreal would have agreed to ceasefire by now ? I don't just come online to write what I don't know. For you not to know that missiles hit isreal shows you don't know anything about the war. The only knowledge you have of the war is mere hearsay from beer parlour. Even the videos of the missiles impact in Isreal was censored , yet we still know what happened in Isreal .
You got me wrong. My question wasn't denying the fact that Iranian missiles hit Israel, my question was "what type of missile got to Israel?" Of course, missiles got to Israel hitting places and made significant destruction. Alot of Iranian missiles were intercepted but specifically what which missiles hit Israel?
