Lol, I’ve been positive since 2008, that was second year in University, This is 13 years and I’m far better. All you need a a daily dose of your anti-retroviral… Don’t listen to what most uneducated people are telling you here, once you get to the clinic, you will see people who have been positive for over 40 years and they are old and still taking their pill. Pill is even not bitter at all.
How I saved myself:

1. I didn’t tell any family member because I wasn’t sure of how I will be treated. So no one knows till date.
2. I never told anyone I was dating, I’m undetectable therefore I cannot transmit it to you. What’s the point? So they will discriminate? Sorry I didn’t talk shit and they are all good too.

3. I don’t joke with my daily pill. Never!!!!!! I only once had one which made me week during the day, told the doctor and he changed it.

4. I didn’t tell any friend, so as it stands, the only people that know about my status is either people I met in clinic when going to take my pill or the people I picked pills for.

5. Finally, always go for your 6 months test, it to your own advantage because while checking your vital load, they will also check for STI which negative people don’t do. So you have free testing in the bag

6. Remove fear, it’s totally nothing I swear my life, you will be amazed.., Getting to the clinic will convince you though. No one is dying of HIV when they stick to their drugs.


You may not follow my pattern but if you have people you love and trust that won’t stereotype, why not? You can tell them. But sadly I don’t trust anyone to be happy with me especially when I knew I was just in 2nd year in university and my parents will blab on how I got to UNI and was positive. I just don’t want it…..

Again, live your life, make sure you just take your drugs and once undetectable… you are so good. It’s nothing big bro

24hours later, but i didn't think it was serious. i felt as if i wanted to get sick from malaria (very slightly though), that was why i downplayed it

As a person in medical field... There is nothing to be worried about. Thank God you know your status, so you can start treatment immediately. You can live a normal life with HIV... The era of being scared or being afraid is over.
With proper and adherence to treatment...The virus will almost be rarely detected in you.
So.
Take your medications when you are suppose to take it.
Eat fruits and vegetables
Exercise and lift weight
Protect yourself from infecting others, sex( use condoms),sharp objects..
Don't share any sharp objects with another person.
Stay with one partner, inform her if you want and go to counseling with her if you wish.
You can impregnate someone without transmitting it to her or have a child with the child 100 % negative...consult the Drs or the health care givers .they will explain everything. Ask any questions no matter how silly...ask..
I know you will live a healthy lifestyle.

Imagine!!! Na today I do my own test for state general hospital and I was negative, the HIV kit display One Thick Line, Means NEGATIVE.

Na so life be, one person own go spoiled another person own go better same day.

I pray for u O.P, u shall find comfort in life.

i did that same test and was tested negative as well.... the symptoms persisted. weeks later, i went for another test and was confirmed positive

Every state has A free HIV management facility, just try and find it, treatment and testing of viral load is basically free.

It's a very great step you have taken with. Great mentality, HIV is no longer as dreaded as we thought, with medication and a good diet you'll be healthy and leave a normal life
