Good day Mamas. I'd like to say this for the malaria drugs in pregnancy. I'm a Parasitologist. And malaria is caused by a parasite that I studied. It is called plasmodium. In pregnancy, this parasite can be very bad. They gather on the surface of the placenta and affect the fetus. They can cause fetal loss, low-birth weight and maternal anemia.

So, WHO recommends that pregnant women living in malaria-endemic countries (like Nigeria) should be given malaria drugs from their SECOND TRIMESTER whether they have malara or not. . This malaria drug is for prevention NOT treatment. It doesn't matter if you're down with malaria or not because Nigeria has mosquitoes. It should be taken two or three times from the second trimester. It is given during antenatal. They call it Intermittent Preventive Treatment of Malaria (IPTp or SP). It is usually fansidar. You swallow the three tablets at once.

Please, let's endeavour to take this drug from our second trimester. If your doctor doesn't mention it, ask him or her about it. It is WHO's recommendation.

My 2016 bs.i came from ttcing thread,i eventually got pregnant naturally after 2 failed ivf,.the pregnancy went well except for serious morning sickness.at 38 weeks,my dictors suggested i should have a planned c s since my baby was already measuring 4kg and the baby was a precious baby(cos of my failed ivf history).i declined and decided to weight for labour.at 41 week,there was still no sign of labour,i was den asked to come for induction.i was admitted and induced,labour progressed and stopped at 6cm,by day 3,i was still at 6cm,i had to requed for a cs though baby's heartbeat wad still strong.
I immediately put a call across to my dh,dat i was tired of s pains and wanted a c.s,b4 he coyld come i signed d papers already.he made all payments ,and i was taken to d theatre.in less dan 15 minutes,my baby was brought out twisted around with cords.he weighed 4.2kg at birth.
Recovery was ok,i discharged on day 4.
9 months after,i tested positive again for my second baby.i still had serious morning sickness from d first to fifth month.from d fifth month i battled with gestational diabetes,my doctors had to place me on a special diet,was at it till i gave birth.at 40 weeks dere was still no sign of labour,i couldn't be induced becos of previous scar.i jejely adviced my self packed my loads to d hospital.i was admitted on sunday evening.all through d night i couldn't sleep.was thinking up nd down.d next morning been monday i was wheeled into d theatre by 8am,had my baby after 20 mins.but cleaning and stitching up took more than an hour.at a point Anastasia started wearing off,i was in pains,i cried out and dey boosted up d anasthesia.dey finally rounded up and i was wheeled out.
Recovery was very ok.i stood up 6 hous after surgery and walked to d door though in pains.started eating next day.dat was 2018 .
This is me reporting for 3rd missionary journey i just missed my period.

I found out about this after my first child. His was mild. For the next 2 deliveries, I wasn't induced and none had it although by the 4th day it seemed my 3rd child was getting yellower than normal. I breastfed her heavily till she pooped A LOT, she pooped lots of black poop and then yellow.
Then the yellow in her skin faded away and she was more active.


The yellowish skin and eyes is as a result of bilirubin in the blood, the best way to get it out is to feed baby continually till baby no longer poops black or brown but only yellow.
Don't wait till milk comes out before you feed the baby, at most by the 24th hour, your baby should be eating so that it can start excreting the bilirubin out.

Note that before birth, the only organs doing any serious work is the brain and the heart. All others are just cruising and heavily dependent on the mother. As such some of the organs such as the lungs, kidney and the liver experience a shock as they have to now do more work.
Don't put unnecessary pressure on those tiny organs by giving them drugs or agbo from birth.

The better option is to let labour go through its normal route.
A typical labour without induction takes about 24h. It gets shorter with each child.
I'm not saying reject induction especially in cases where it is very necessary.
But if there's no issue and you and the baby are fine, then you may insist on not getting oxytocin.

Typical labour progresses jn pain. The pain starts low, your body gets used to it and it goes up a notch till you're 10cm and ready to pop.

Oxytocin jumps like 5 steps. It cuts the labour time short (and I strongly believe this is why NIGERIAN doctors use it, it saves them time and they can easily predict the time you will give birth) it drags you through the pain and you get it back to back.


Please, always follow your Drs advice but be sure it's the best route for you.

I was induced for my first and it failed and resulted to an emergency CS (it has worked for hundred more women and my case was actually odd, I was given too much which made the pain unbearable and I was given a high grade pain reliever, morphine, to stop the pain)
For my next 2, no induction and labour was actually less painful.
2nd one was 22h long.
3rd one was about 20h long too.
But the pain was paced.

If you're overdue please don't run for induction.
It's actually shorter and more effective for overdue babies.

The above story is for women in labour, when they get to 6cm or so, the Dr decides to augment labor.
Ask the Dr, am I doing fine? Is my baby doing fine? If the answer is yes, then reject the induction.

I noticed that the discharge changed slightly from thick to light but still comes out more. After I finished the dose I bought and it still comes out, I complained to the matron of the hospital where I do my antenatal but she didn't say or do anything about it. Right now it comes out more frequently and always wetting my pants and clothes. Pls is there any suggestions on how I can treat it without affecting my baby??

It sounds like something that shouldn't be taken with levity o.I suggest u register in another better hospital where u will be attended to asap.Self medication is not advised in pregnancy.May u carry to term and deliver successfully

Mama, does the yellowish green discharge have a fishy smell? Does it smell very bad? If it does, then you're right. It is Trichomoniasis. It is caused by a parasite. And the drug you took is the right one for it. Although, I don't know if that drug is safe in pregnancy. You should have just gone to the hospital instead.

Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI). This means that, your husband also has it. It was transmitted sexually. The reason why it looks like the drug isn't working may be because you had sex with him during treatment. You should stay off sex for about a week or more while you're undergoing treatment. . And your husband should also be treated ASAP. If he's not treated, it will be a waste of time cos the infection will reoccur.

I believe your baby is fine. But, don't risk it. Infections can cause issues. I'm not happy that your hospital is not taking this matter seriously! Kindly visit another hospital immediately. So that treatment can start at once for you and your husband.
