I want us to be objective here. Please stick to the topic idea.
When I see convocation of eastern schools and I check for best students in various departments, all I see is 99% east and 1% non tribe.
If you take a look at the Faculty Deans and HOD's , similar percentage.
If you go to the west, You see various tribes as deans, best graduating and HOD's why?
Even during admission why do Many people pick the West compared to the east?

Easterners do travel more than other tribes , and are in various schools outside their own territory . U hardly find other tribes in schools outside their territory in large numbers

So it's not about tribe, Easterners in Unilag or UI are far higher that Westerners in UNN Enugu ,

Easterners in University of Kano are far more than Northerners in Unizik awka

How ? I visit u , u don't visit me , who is tribalistic me or u ?

Not only in education , easterners are everywhere in large quantity in Nigeria, unlike other tribes , so when they have kids, those kids will go into universities they found around them .

Probably high quality standard institutions (from pre creche to tertiary institutions) are much more dominant in the west. Moreso, the Easterners migrate internally to the west perhaps for economic reasons. Then along the line, the Easterners settled down in west to raise her family. Some of them ended up schooling down west for proximity level, some parents can't imagine their kids/wards traveling to the east by road (Naija death trap road)

NB: We have more Easterners in west compared to westerners in east, this factor influenced the dominance of the easterners in Western institutions.

The Easterners institutions are not tribalistic, they probably didn't get much applicant from west

That is their problem. ,
A typical Westerner 1 choice Unilag , 2 nd choice Unibadan , 3 choice Lasu

A typical Northerners 1st choice Amadu Bello , 2 nd choice UniKad 3rd Choice UniAbuja

A typical easterner Ist choice UNN ,2 nd choice Unilag 3rd Choice UniAbuja

Why they don't come out best in east is that the few of them posted to east came cos of low cut off marks , they the school in silent and go

Is not about being tribalistic, is just pure competitive nature of a pure Easterner, check the history of some western and Northern Universities years back, you will see that many Easterners where at the top of many offices. We are not tribalistic rather it was actually tribalisims that is limiting us,put Tribalism aside many Easterners will head many agencies far outside East if things are don on merit , is just the natural competitive lifestyle of the East . If you compare Non Easterners doing business in East and the Easterners doing business outside East, you will understand the hard working nature, watch all those areas that has little or no government control you will understand better .

How many Yoruba men in his right senses would leave convenant University best Private Uni, leave University of Ibadan best Government Uni and head to Ibo land that it's occupants are migrating from , just to proof a point as best student

There is an age long adage in igbo land that says "a traveller has no enemy" u have not been to igbo land and yet u tagged us tribalistic.

Keep deceiving yourself.

Easterner like to travel a lot.

First Indigenous Vc of Unilag is from east (Eni Njoku)
First Indigenous Vc of UI is from east (Kenneth Dike)

It's not tribalism, there are many lecturers and students from the west residing in the Eastern part of the country.

Sorry to say, you are already close minded. The person you quoted already gave his answer and yet you are still looking for a way to bring TRIBALISM into his answer.

Do you really need people to give their sincere opinion on this matter or you just need people to support your already made up notion that easterners are TRIBALISTIC?

Could remember vividly........most of my friends that jamb low cut off score........ended up settling for school outta west........

But then........why will a sane westerner leave to school just anywhere........even when the have best private/public institutions around now?

I think UNN or possibly FUTO is the only school I could ever think of in east.........
I might be wrong tho......but in west they r just too numerous.......

All these tribalistic threads and comments have never helped anyone.

Even if you finally establish the opinion that Easterners are tribalistic, some are suggesting they don't have high standard universities, etc., does that change your individual life?

In my department and course area in Uniben, we had just three second class upper graduates and they are all Igbos.

Not until 2012 or so, all the vice chancellors of university of Benin were all Igbos. And from the moment they introduced tribalism that only an Edo man can be the vice chancellor, Uniben has never regained its position in the university ranking. From 2nd and 3rd positions in 2012 to 15th position.

Other tribes are finding it hard to accept the fact that Igbos are industrious and intelligent. Thus, looking for any opportunity to slam them.
