Coming a few days after Grammy win, Afrobeat singer, Burna Boy has now said that he achieved it on his own. In a couple of tweets posted on Saturday, March 20, 2021, the ‘Level Up’ crooner recalled how many Nigerians prayed for his downfall while appreciating God for not being man. He then added saying, that his future kids will now be able to beat their chest that because their father did it on his own, they can do it on their own too. See tweet below: He wrote, “GOD is most definitely NOT A MAN. I will never forget how so many of you prayed that I don’t win. Too dumb to understand that you also win if I win. No worry. This is just the beginning. God is Great. When you know yourself. NOBODY can tell you about yourself. KNOW YOURSELVES and never go against yourself. My kids will confidently beat their chest and say, “Daddy did it on his OWN, we can do it on our own.” This post has since generated mixed reactions among Nigerians on social media, the majority of whom opined that Burna Boy needs to stay humble and his tweets are unnecessary. Recall that Burna Boy won his first Grammy at the 63rd Grammy Ceremony on Sunday, March 14, 2021. He became the first artist and first Nigerian to win the Best Global Album Award category. Burna is always toxic. Unfortunately winning a Grammy doesn't mean Burna doesn't have psychotic issues that needs fixing. Let's pray the award doesn't blind him to his mental condition Nonsense. Pray kor, Play ni ![]() |

I like Burna Boy a lot. His refusal to perform humility or pretend he owes his outstanding success to anyone except himself, his talent, his team and his God. And all that "pride comes before a fall" threat is just comedy. "Humble" artistes fall even faster. Y’all don’t care. |

TBH burna boy did it on his own, It was his hard work, persistent and talent that got him to be nominated and even when he lost out, he came back even stronger the following year despite nay-sayers predicted he won't be near a nomination list after his loss to Angelique kidjo. With All that said, despite his Grammy win,. Tuface Idibia still remains my undisputed GOAT in the afrobeats/pop genre.. Special mentions to psquare, Wizkid, & D'banj.. |
