I'm also a total beginner too. But am practicing seriously at home with duolingo, memrise and rocket french. But I loveeeee rocket french most, and with the rate I'm learning, by the end of this lockdown I should be prepared to take the A1 exams.

Is it possible? Yes, I think it is. But then again, you have to consider what "pass" means in TEF

Unlike DELF where you write either A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 or C2 and then pass or fail any of these levels, TEF is a singular exam that will place you on the right level based on your performance. In other words, you do not usually fail or pass TEF. The exam only grades you. Whether the outcome is acceptable or not then depends on the level required by the institution requesting for the exam. Canadian immigration is asking for CLB4 if French is presented as a second language. This can be likened to B1 according to the information I got at Alliance Francaise.

So the question is, can you attain B1 in 8 months?

Like I already answered, I believe you can. But that will take some serious dedication. Bearing in mind that your migration to Canada might depend on it should be a good source of motivation. Again, you must engage in personal studies asides class room lectures, make friends with those that speak the language and never give up even when it seems impossible. The last point is very important because there is always that point in foreign language learning where you feel you can't move on or that you are just wasting your time. Pass that stage and success is guaranteed. As they say, the seceret of learning a language is speaking the language. Speak, speak, speak. Even when it sounds horrible. It can only get better.

As for me, I was exposed to French in secondary school. I have been learning on my own since then. I wrote and passed DELF in 2013

June might be too early like the someone already mentioned. If you are looking to write French to gain additional 50 bonus points, you would need to master the language first, before attempting the exam.
Please contact 0807 347 4774. She is francophone and an excellent tutor. I moved from B1 to C1 after she started tutoring me. All her classes are via zoom hence it's convenient and she teaches with the exam in view (ie based on the syllabus).

Je ris en français!!! Est-ce que tu viens d’apprendre la langue française ou es-te un locuteur native ? If yes then it’s doable but if no, then we will be right here waiting for your A1 resultant.

Take your time and prépare for TEF. 200k for tef no be beans, then the time you’ll waste waiting for result to come only to discover that you’ll need another extra 6 months to take the exam again.

The classes are 4hrs classes per weekend. (Saturday and Sunday) and this will run for 6months. The classes are for absolute beginners.

You can register for our online french class. YOu will meet with other students in whatsapp group who you can study with and also have access to the tutor at any time for questions and clarifications.

OINP range of CRS invited has been BELOW 470 since Nov 2020, if above the upper boundary of the CRS range and the applicant will likely not get an invite.

I started my classes with a French learning center last week. It's scheduled for 6 days per week.

And it's been fun so far!

I'm planning on writing TEF the last week of June, so I'm trying to improve as fast as possible. Here are some things that I find helpful;

1. Reading.

2. Listening to French podcasts on Spotify.

3. Watching Netflix movies with French audio and English subtitle or vice-versa.

4. Listening to the test practice recordings

5. Learning with the Duolingo app.

6. Switching my phone's language to French.

I hope I'll be prepared by then and everything turns out well.

I was wondering if anybody would be interested in exchanging contacts?

We could keep in touch and speak the language with each other to help us improve faster. Or maybe a Whatsapp group or something.
