American schools are not for mad people, please tell us exactly where you schooled. The fact that Awka is now competing with US infrastructures means that the city is now the fastest developing city in Africa. Mktinsight go and die, you have continued to fail. No one can ever be deceived by your lies and propaganda.

[s]
mktinsight:
Dont stress yourself over hungry dogs like globemoney01. Obiano in 7 years with capital allocation of close to 1 billion dollars has little to show for his efforts. Aside his decoration and ramps in Awka expressway and Esther obiakor not a single new road was constructed in Awka. A city which is growing 10% per year. You go to Onitsha and apart from beautifying another legacy infrastructure namely federal expressway around Borromeo roundabout. Nothing. His so called legacy projects are nothing special. I schooled in the USA. My Alma mater raised 30 million dollars and with it constructed a stadium and sporting facilities better than the rubbish in Awka, world class library and classroom buildings. 1 billion dollars and people are celebrating mini airport terminal and mini stadium. Th what a SECONDARY school stadium looks like and they are not broadcasting it

You are very correct nwanne

ChimaAdeoye:
It is obvious that Obiano imbibes to the best practices worldwide. Even opting for the expensive specialized airport fire trucks (The Striker) instead of the cheap and readily available fire trucks.

I truly give Obiano the respect for insisting on the very best in the aviation world for this airport. Many Nigerian state governors will simply buy a used fire truck that will not be able to fight a true plane crash fire. Thus, people will die from "saving" money by cutting corners.

A video of the capabilities of these specialized airport fire trucks will shows this is a beast of a machine! The last video is how these trucks saved a Boeing 737 from being engulfed in flames and thus saving hundreds of people onboard. Not to mention that the aircraft itself was also saved by these awesome specialized fire fighting trucks.

IDENNAA:
Even in the U.S where I reside many government buildings are constructed with steel and woods. Stop being half exposed for a second. The terminal can always be redone. The Bush intercontinental airport as we know it today was what it was when it was built in 1969. They have expanded the terminal and added more features and beautification. Anambra has too many sectors pressing for infrastructures and we can dump all our funds in a single project just to impress you.

Now , can Obiano do better than what he has achieved so far ? Of course, yes, but he is out of time. So , let's count our losses and face the next guy. Personally, I don't think Obiano achieved anything worth jubilating.

There are still sand dunes on our roads.
The Awka bridges look mediocre.
Anambra still look like a desert filled with 4 storey buildings , no trees , no grasses and no green environment. Yet he lives in one of the most lush neighborhood in Houston , The expensive Woodlands.

Obiano , obviously failed on many aspects but let's move on.
God bless you for saying the truth unlike this media hype agents that full this place. Obiano failed Anambra people, come to Awka north all our roads are in mess likewise Awka south too.Obiano lives aboard so we expected him to understand that those sands on our roads should not be there.I will give him credit for constructing an international airport and ICC in Anambra at least he tried there.
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by custainmowole:
Anambra international airport terminal is the best in entire region.

Now let's compare Obiano and Umahi under the following headings:

- Education

- Human capital development

- infrastructure

- Agriculture

- Poverty Ranking

- FDI

- GDP

- IGR

- Ease of doing business

- Health, etc

There are millions of Umahi's Ebonyi indigenes trooping to Obiano's Anambra for greener pasture on a daily. People tend to migrate to a better ground.

[s]
mktinsight:
Obiano is building the terminal the way warehouses and factory buildings are constructed with structural steel. Nothing particularly earth shattering about it. The whole longest runway in Africa is just total nonsense for a mediocre local airport with a capacity of 400 passengers. Umahi in the same time frame has built far better infrastructure and buildings than Obiano and I am willing to bet that their white elephant airport in Ebonyi will be probably a better design even as poverty full ground Abakaliki.

Yes, Obiano has done so well in Awka north and more especially in Awka south where 3 gleaming beautiful flyovers are sited. Obiano has equally done beautiful roads in Awka like the EBS Boulevard, Esther Obiakor both dualcarriage roads among many other roads in the city.

Oh you are giving him credit on the airport and ICC, I thought he didn't even do anything at all. Ndi ala everywhere

According to him, the water treatment plant is amazing. It takes care of the need of not only the airport but also of the firefighting service. We have seen the emergency evacuation center, trauma center in case, God forbid, anything happens. There’s arrangement to deal with any eventuality. I have seen the operational fence, I have seen the perimeter fence, significantly done or almost completed. And in the vehicle earlier today, I had said that ‘Anambra means business.’ And I mean it when I say Anambra means business.”

Captain Nuhu further emphasized that everything about the aiport was perfect, pointing out that the consultants to the government of Anambra State on the project had done a great job.

“It is obvious when this airport is completed, it is going to be a significant enabler of the economy and growth of this area, the state and the surrounding states here. So, at this point I congratulate the governor for this legacy project,” he concluded.

Anambra International Aiport Is One Of The Best Airports In Nigeria, Says Captain Musa Nuhu, NCAA Boss.

The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Musa Nuhu has described the Anambra International Cargo/Passenger Airport,

Impressive

Ndi Anambra, Anambra International Cargo And Passenger Airport Is Coming, Anticipate!

By Dr. Uche Nworah

Very soon, just very soon, you will take off from Lagos, Abuja, P.H, Kano, Kaduna, London, New York, Beijing, Paris, Amsterdam etc and land in your fatherland, the land of the rising sun.

As you enjoy these amazing shots by James Eze of the runway of Anambra International Cargo and Passenger airport, as it blends into the Umueri skyline, imagine the economic possibilities.

Those naysayers who wonder whether this is real should believe. It’s as real as night and day.

Those who question the choice of an airport by Governor Willie Obiano over other things the government could have done with the resources should understand that government is a continuum. This government considers this airport project a priority likewise other infrastructural projects it has embarked on, because of the multiplier economic effect. The next government can focus on other areas and projects.

Those who question the idea behind the airport when there is Asaba, Enugu and Owerri airports should understand that there are lots of considerations in passengers and users choosing an airport to patronise such as (1) Proximity from home/office/departure point (2) State of origin effect/emotional and sentimental reasons/patronising your own to grow your state economy (3) Service availability e.g Cargo, hotels, shopping mall etc (4) Flight schedules and routes available etc. (5) Operating airlines (6) Ease of arriving at airport/ Note that traffic on Niger Bridge Onitsha sometimes lasts hours etc

Note also that:

(1) The Anambra airport is not targeting only passengers and cargo users from Onitsha. The catchment is the whole Anambra state and South East states. If the cargo airport takes off, you don’t need to go to NAHCO shed in Lagos and queue up to clear your goods if you are selling them in the South East. Anambra airport is nearer.

(2) Over time, Anambra entrepreneurs have demonstrated appreciable comparative advantage in airline management. Late Chief Ikwuemesi who owned Sosoliso airlines, Chief Allen Onyema, owner of Air Peace, and Dr. Obiora Okonkwo, owner of United Nigeria Airlines are all Ndi Anambra. Anambra -born Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, Owner of Chisco Transport has announced that the group’s Havila Airlines will take off shortly.

They have all indicated that they would make Anambra airport their hub.

If we should apply all these factors, then the Anambra airport beats Asaba and all the other south eastern airports in competitive terms.

@uchenworah.

If wishes were horses beggars would ride. TOTAL air passengers in SOUTH EAST is less than 1 million. Now that 1 million will be split between FIVE airports. Of course it will not be split evenly but based on well known characteristics:

1) Owerri Airport - Serves principally people in Imo, Abia and sometimes Port Harcourt does not compete with Umueri or Enugu domestic
2) Asaba Airport - Is closest to Onitsha and Nnewi and will compete with Umueri Airport for domestic passengers
3) Umueri Airport - Will most a local white elephant for government folks and private jet owners. Will compete with Asaba.
4) Enugu Airport - Once main International terminal is complete it will continue to grow in leaps and bounds as gateway to East
5) Abakaliki Airport - Will be a certified white elephant airport for government folks mostly

Anambra international airport has come to stay and its gonna be the busiest airport in Nigeria aside Lagos and Abuja.

Anambra international airport is equally among the few best in Nigeria

Anambra international airport runway is the widest and longest in Nigeria

Anambra international airport tower is among the tallest and best in Africa.

Anambra international airport terminal is the most beautiful and most sophisticated in Nigeria

Roads, power, water biggest challenges of Anambra residents — Survey
On November 23, 20202:40 pm
In News

A survey conducted by Paul Orajiaka Foundation has revealed that bad road networks, inadequate power, and water supply are among the biggest challenges of Anambra residents. The survey which is part of efforts by the foundation to have a better understanding of the immediate needs and challenges of residents of the state also identified unemployment, security, inadequate health care facilities, poor drainage, and the education system as other major problems faced by people resident in the state.

To ensure an effective result, the survey team led by Paul Orajiaka, who is a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC in Anambra State, traversed all the 21 local government areas of the state including villages located in difficult flooded terrains where there are practically no access roads. The survey was conducted within a rigorous two months period and respondents comprising farmers, petty traders, students, businessmen, teachers, lawyers, doctors, etc, within the range of 18 to 65 years were painstakingly interviewed by the survey team members. Of the over 2000 residents interviewed, 55 percent identified a combination of bad roads and inadequate water and power supply as their major challenge and insisted that the current administration has done very little to tackle the problem. About 32 per cent of the residents also identified with the challenge of bad roads, inadequate water, and electricity supply however pointed to insecurity, lack of effective educational and health care facilities, and poor water drainage system in both urban and rural areas as their biggest challenge

A fewer number of the residents interviewed singled out security and lack of general good governance as factors constituting a major setback in their everyday effort to eke a living for themselves. The statistics were slightly different in each of the local government areas surveyed as residents in the communities pointed out more specific needs they would appreciate government assistance.

In Onitsha North Local Government Area, for instance, security was a major issue residents pointed to while poor electricity supply and bad roads constituted their second and third biggest challenges. In Onitsha South Local Government Area, over 85 per cent of residents interviewed stated that their major challenges in order of priority were bad roads, insecurity, poor electricity supply, and unemployment. The burden of high tax payments was also a problem that they grappled with.

Awka North and South local government shared a combination of the same challenge; bad roads, poor electricity supply, unemployment, poor health facilities, and bad drainage system.

While Orumba North and South also share equal challenges of bad road networks, epileptic power supply and unemployment, insecurity, a poor drainage system and lack of drinkable water were the least in their order of needs.

In Anambra East and West Local Government, bad road networks and poor electricity supply rank among their two major challenges while in Dunukofia local government area, unemployment and bad roads were their top priority. Ihiala and Ekwusigo local government areas are united with the same problem of bad roads, poor electricity supply, and insecurity. Residents in the two local government areas also say they are concerned about inadequate health care and the high rate of unemployment among the youths in the area. Idemili North and South Local Government Area share the same major challenges of bad roads, poor electricity supply, and unemployment as residents also complain about the growing problem of cultism, lack of health care facilities and government apathy to needs.

Other local government areas; Anaocha, Njikoka, Oyi, Ayamelum, Ogbaru, Aguata, Nnewi (North and South) also have the same equal challenge of bad roads, epileptic power supply, unemployment, insecurity, and inadequate health care facilities. Roads, power, water biggest challenges of Anambra residents — Survey

Other local government areas; Anaocha, Njikoka, Oyi, Ayamelum, Ogbaru, Aguata, Nnewi (North and South) also have the same equal challenge of bad roads, epileptic power supply, unemployment, insecurity, and inadequate health care facilities. oga, even if obiano finishes all the roads in akwa and onitsha, other adjoining areas will spring up and hence there will be many more bad roads to fix. the structure of Nigeria (revenue sharing and indeginious resource development) ensures that no state can develop at the rate Dubai or china did.
since the federal government has cornered most income to themselves, governor's have to be smart to earn income and attract FDI ,- that'l necessitated the Anambra airport, the only true world-class airport in the East and a standard for posterity .

if mbakwe was much maligned and insulted during his time ,who is obiano to escape such- but write this down, posterity will judge Obiano fairly for this project.
Personally my greatest joy in this is that he has proven to the SE that we can actualise our dreams without waiting for the federal government.

Let us call the attention of the "Best Governor" in the world to it.
The kind dirt on our road after every rainfall is mind blowing. The entire city stinks.
I await Chinedu Alaegbu to come and start masturbating on my mention with different names.

Brother the next governor should fix other ones and give us greener and fresher Anambra. Willie has tried jare!
Ngige did roads.
Obi gave us more roads, good education, introduced the Anambra integrated development strategy etc
Obiano improved agric sector, security, built airport, etc.
Another governor should continue.... He has tried jare.
If Mbadinuju did not start by messing this state up and embezzling funds, Anambra would have gone far.
I bless God for the governors that worked no matter how little they did.

God bless Anambra State!
