Remove Lagos from the list!

It can survive without federal allocation.

The state did it before during OBJ era and it has more financial capacity currently to do the same.

Just a bit of correction. OBJ seized the LG allocation not the state allocation.

Lagos done that year by year but they have now totally relied on Fed allocations and Lag governors kept enriching themselves cos they have back up from Federal govt

That's not true, if the federal government allow States to control their resources so many state governors will not even bother to go to Abuja again.

A good example is ondo state that's sitting on bitumen ( it has the second largest deposit of bitumen in the world) oil, timber and a rich coastal line.

Even kogi too with its rich natural resources like iron ore, coal, limestone

Have those states shown any readiness to develop those resources?

You don't know what you're saying ! Lagos can take care of the entire south west without feeling any pressure.

You'll know later what Lagos alone is capable of doing for Yoruba nation when it secedes finally from Nigeria.

The allocation are not "federal" change that vocabulary

If you contribute more than you receive it is a rebate or refund

The greatest disservice Jonathan did to his people is not working hard for them to control their resources. That man was a complete waste.
I shake my head when people praise him.

James Ibori and Diepreye Alamieyeseigha campaigned for resource control all through their stay in office. Jonathan got the opportunity and blew it.

Yes, you are right.

However, Governors make use of the LG allocation as part of the allocation for their states informally.

Did we ever have any autonomous LG in this democracy?

Governors informally control that money so seizing a LG allocation will harm the state and there are few states in Nigeria that can survive it.

I'm in agreement with all you've said.

However, it remains to be seen if with the present rent-seeking and financial opacity in Lagos, if your earlier assertion can hold.

That is exactly what is obtainable in developed countries of the world.
Your tax is an obligation that no one reminds you of and basic services, health care and infrastructural provisions, development and maintenance are the duties of the government without prompting.
Who knows, this might work also in Nigeria.

Is there anything called local government autonomy in Nigeria?

Who controls those local government funds? Is it not informally the state government?

Seems you don’t understand your country and you guys are easily carried away with textbook definition.

On survival without allocation, Lagos, Abuja, and Ogun state are the only states in Nigeria with IGR greater than their FAAC monthly allocation.

If you prove further and check the figures of Lagos IGR and their monthly allocation, you will understand what I’m saying when I said they can survive.
