Peace treaty after the war became inconclusive and warring parties were out of resources both human and materials to continue?

Anyway I'm not the one you should be convincing about your ability to co exist without wars with each other. It's your elites who don't seem to believe so.
What do you know since you don’t know about the peace treaty? Your are just grasping for straws.

Did the elites confined in you about their fears? grin

That Yoruba land was drained economically and psychologically after Kiriji became protracted without any end in sight and with no clear winner and had to invite the British to colonize Yoruba land just to end the war is an open secret.

You should be providing your sources to your fellow Yorubas who don't seem so convinced of your ability to make it independent of Nigeria.

You have a big persuasion job to do on them.
As an Igbo I know Yoruba nation is very viable. I'm just sick and tired of your crab in the barrel mentality and wish to see you all embrace Oduduwa republic idea, so that Ndiigbo can have enough opportunity to have a second crack at leaving Nigeria for good.
Independent is not all about oil and gas.

It should come naturally. Not by persuasion.

Independence is all about believing in your ability to make it on your own. The belief that you have all it takes to make overcome your individual challenges.

Yoruba land , her leaders and commoners seem to lack this conviction. And this thread is all about exposing why it is so.

It shows why many of you are scared of having a Yoruba independent country where you have to deal with only yourselves.

You have a history of not being able to peacefully resolve your differences when left to deal with just yourselves.

The Kiriji war was precolonial.
Post independence once the minorities left the Western region and Yorubas had no one else to unite against. You all tore each other and your region went up in flames, operation wetie and wild wild west were real events in Yoruba history, a hard reminder of your difficulties in dealing with each other.

You seem to do better when you have other groups you can transfer your negative energy on and unite around. Like Nigeria offers you with Igbos and other groups where you have to forget your internal problems and quickly unite around your shared Igbophobia. grin . In Oduduwa republic you will not have Igbos but yourselves.

Your elites and elders know of your old demons and would rather avoid dealing with them by keeping Nigeria united so that they can always have external enemies to unite you lots around and not have you on each others throat.

Peaceful resolution of conflicts come easy for Ndiigbo because we are naturally Democrats. There are no powerful monarchs with big egos to mess things up.
We have our challenges, but our republican nature always mean we find peaceful ways to negotiate our coexistence.
We are not perfect and like all societies we have many injustices to iron out within us. But our Democratic nature gives us a better fighting chance , and our history proves that too.

Eastern region despite the intrigues of the COR movement and all , was the most peaceful region in entire Nigeria. While the North had Jos and Tiv riots to deal with, and West had Operation Wetie and wild wild west, the Igbo used Democratic principles encoded in Igbo genes to keep every storm away from escalation. cool

Zik never forced anyone to stay in Nigeria. He simply explained to the North the disadvantages they would face should they secede from Nigeria.

Zik never threatened military action against any region that wanted out of Nigeria.

Zik was naive thinking the differences between the tower Babel ethnic groups in Nigeria were resolvable. He didn't have the advantage of watching Nigeria fail for 60yrs now like we have. Nigeria was a young country in 1960, Zik schooled in USA where the mantra was about unity of all black people. You could forgive Zik ignorance thinking there was a chance in hell that Nigeria could amount to anything other than hell.

But how do we forgive Yoruba elders and commoners still stuck with the idea of One Nigeria despite the advantage of hindsight today?

Zik instructed the British to arrest and prosecute anyone that suggests secession.

In fact, the North and SW never believed in one Nigeria then

The OP is forcing you to for once use your brain and ask relevant questions.
lol
Which relevant questions?
The author is as dumb as dumb itself.

He was yapping about old negativities like the Kiriji war...lol

Has he read about the great people of the world like the Chinese,Romans etc?
They all fought amongst themselves.Great nations and minds did this before they evolved.
The Yorubas were warriors who also extended their empire to Dahomey which is now known as Republic of Benin.
Yorubas themselves abolished anything called war amongst themselves and became one strong single entity and celebrated the end of the wars with what they called the Bere Festival which was celebrated periodically....this is what later turned to Owambe parties which still serve the purpose of uniting the Yorubas more than ever.

To sum it all,all societies have their differences and Yorubas believe that they will always overcome theirs. They have always done that splendidly more than any group.
Yorubas are more educated now and more refined.

Go and read the history of the Yorubas.

2.I am sure the guy is not a Yoruba or he might be a wannabe.
He talked about industries and businesses.
Yorubas have the highest number of indigenous industries both in Nigeria and abroad and they are the only Nigerians with multibillion dollars/poundsterling businesses abroad.
Yorubas have grest business people who have made it abroad without the nepotistic influence of govt.Bayo Ogunlesi,Bode Akindele,Deinde Fernandez,Harry Akande,Kas Lawal etc.
Remove govt aids from Dangote and BUA and they will fall like a pack of cards

Good points.

In my opinion , the agitation for Yoruba nation is not unconnected to 2023 SW agenda.

1967 = One Nigeria is non-negotiable

2021 = Oduduwa Republic is a reality.

Who does that? Why?

The Awoists , Adekunles and Obasanjos that fought to defend the territorial boundaries of Nigeria; goodluck in convincing them to switch allegiance.

In a nutshell , the SW is trying to secure the bag (political power) via realpolitik. Call for Oduduwa Republic? Call back after 2023 presidential election.

Plot twist.

Scene1: The Igbo political elites were hoping to use Biafra agitation by Igbo commoners to force the North into conceding power to them.

Scene 2: The Yoruba elites had to counteract that. So they brought Igboho to do the job for them. Task is simple: create a semblance of Yoruba secession to counteract Igbo elites Biafra threat and ensure a stalemate. grin

What do you think grin

Personally I don't care if they want oduduwa Republic or Skull mining republic, this useless country is overripe for implosion anyway... my own is that as long as these yoruba agitators who are drawing their Secessionist map don't include Lagos (owned by the Bini people), parts of Ondo state (owned by the Edos and Ijaws), the Awori's (who are not indigenous Yorubas), parts of Ekiti, Kwara (Fulani don't even need to talk too much here), and parts of Kogi state... then they can fu*k off with their 5 and half states including there people who are in Benin Republic and Togo.
Lagos own by Bini? Who is ruling the state at the moment, you need to be shot on the head for that blasphemy

Who told you Ibos rejected Buhari in 2015?
Maybe in 2015, you were still in primary, Every region voted massively for Buhari Govt in 2015 because of their fake promises and because we want a better govt not knowing we are going from frypan to fire
,In 2019, when everyone eyes clear, there was voter aparthy ,Apc used the opportunity to rig the elections for Buhari, Buhari was imposed on Nigeria in 2019, forget those figures you see then( God will not forgive APC for that)
Are you afraid of Yoruba seceding or what ?
I don't know what you people really want from the Yorubas. Initially you said we are Hausa slaves and unity beggars, now we want to secede ,you said we shouldn't.
Na wa o
Ridiculous claims like this are things that make me realize that most people either slow, or are deliberately mischievous.
Seriously? So every region, including the SE (Igbos) gave their vote to Buhari in 2015?
This same 2015 that is a mere 6 years old, and you pretend like you forgot, or that everyone else has memory lapse like you?
This same 2015 that Igbos were dubbed 5% as against 97% for other regions?
This same 2015 that Buhari gave his first live interview in London where he made that comment?
This same 2015 that many entrepreneurs printed tee shirts with the inscription "proudly 5%" which many Igbos patronized to show their rejection of Buhari?
C'mon, if you're trying to revise something that happened few years ago into a different narrative, something that was very public and exhaustively analysed and recorded, then I will be wary about the claims you try to make over events from 50 years ago.
Igbos rejected Buhari in 2015 and even moreso in 2019.
For your own safety, never make that ridiculous claim of yours wherever Igbos are gathered.

Sure, few Igbos voted Buhari and APC in 2015, but the overwhelming majority voted against him.

What he was saying exactly is what you just said now. Those that voted for him are still Igbos.
Buhari is just worse.Jonathan who I vehemently supported, forced the hands of most reasonable Nigerians(I know you will not agree) even international communities,to support this carry-Fulani-for-head president.

As for Nigeria, may God forgive me,it can not work if the Hausas or Fulanis are still structured the way they are.

They do not like education.
They still want to live in the olden age.
Less innovation, quota system brains, less intelligence, wanting to lead even without the know how, intentionally creating large populations they cannot handle etc.

Ibos dey vote en masse before? I thought you would say no Ibos voted Buhari
Yorubas always split their vote right from time, it's either 50:50 ,40:60 or 45:55,we are liberal in nature. Two brothers of same parents can vote for different candidates of their choice
We are not gullible in nature where we can be easily maneovered to vote for a single candidate in bandwagon effect out of hatred , ethnicity or religion
What have you done to the Ibos that voted Buhari?
Why not extend the same hatred you have for Yorubas against your brothers who voted Buhari, extend same hatred to the Rochas,Hope Ugwuanyi etc
