At least five vehicles have been involved in an accident overnight at Otedola Bridge inwards Berger Area on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Igbere TV reports.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said in a tweet on Saturday that two tankers, a trailer and two cars were involved in the accidents.

A video shared by LASTMA on Twitter shows the trailer collapsed on its side and burning, while one of the tankers involved in the accident was only burnt on its rear side.

The video was captioned:

“An overnight multiple accidents at Otedola bridge inwards Berger, involving 2 tankers, a trailer and 2 cars, while @LAG_FireService, @followlasema, @PoliceNG and @followlastma are on ground for evacuation.

“It is affecting traffic backwards Motorway-7up to Alapere presently. Motorists are advised to use CMD Rd, 7up area to link Olowopo and Gbagada respectively.”

The fire caused by the accidents has been put out, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said.

It, however, said seven vehicles were involved in the accidents.

“The Fire involving Seven Vehicles at the Otedola Bridge area has been doused by @LagosRescue as mop-up is being concluded now with @lasemasocial,” the Service tweeted.

Can someone with knowledge of this Otedola bridge explain why is this high tendency for vehicles to catch fire on Otedola bridge, is there something that cause hold up there which eventually results to overheating of vehicle engines and then explosion or what?

I still feel some of these accidents are avoidable.

At least, Lagos-Ibadan Express cannot be described as a bad road again.

Some broken down cars are left carelessly on the road without any caution sign to other road users.

Some vehicles with headlamps as if they want to blind other road users while some don't even have at all.

Some drivers speeding more than the taxying of a landing jet, and therefore can't navigate to saftey on sighting an obstruction.

Pls, these accidents are still very avoidable.

Hopefully, no casualties.

Why is it always Otedola bridge?

For once, i haven't trust the bearer of that name. His source of wealth should be thoroughly investigated. It won't be surprising to me, if at the end they find out he's into rituals.

I see more fires as a result of carelessness, Nigerians should brace up for more fires in the coming months. This I have seen.
