The number of innocent people killed by hoodlums during that period was unprecedented, but they will never report it. Men (and women with internalized misogyny) will twist themselves into all kinds of shapes to justify the rape of a woman rather than place the blame where it belongs. When they can’t blame the lady or the parents of the child (when it’s a kid), they blame religion, northerners, the western world etc. all to avoid calling other men out and having that necessary conversation.
