Monogamy: It cannot work. We need good system not good people. With present population, it would be difficult to create a good system without restructuring. |

Aconomist:When Nigerian was divided in to regions in the 60's. The same problems we are facing today such as corruption, election rigging and thuggery was not much different. There is no guarantee restructuring will change the status quo, if the same key actors are still in charge. |

Namibia tax to gdp ratio 30% Nigeria tax to gdp ratio 6% It's that simple. |

Another thing...Namibia has less than 3 million people Nigeria has 200 million people. Namibia earns a GDP per capita of nearly 4500 USD Nigeria earns a GDP per capita of 2300 usd. Of course the solution is simple...we have to earn more money, and short term, widening the tax base, long term, industrialization. |

RuudVanNisteroy: A lot will change. Especially as there would be cash to fix things up. Because the truth is, Nigeria does not earn a lot of money, then the corruption makes a bad situation worse. But my ultimate point is, in making more money, we have to eventually swtich our economy to a manufacturing economy. Because our resource dependent economy means we can slack off, and the money will still pour in. If we became industrial, our money making abilities would be dependent on how hard we work, and that puts pressure on our leaders to make power and light and roads, etc work...otherwise money makign falls. (That's why the US works. ) Plus, why are Nigerian leaders bad? Because Nigerian followers don't know how to put pressure on their leaders to be good. And because we have this idea that the government exists to give us goodies....so that we don't have to work anymore. Well, that's not how governance and development work. |

Subsidybad21:The Abuja to Kano road is going to cost a record breaking N2.1 billion per kilometre. And the quality will still not match Namibia road quality. The size of a population is not a reason to have one of the worst road networks in the world. 1 Like |

Subsidybad21: @ bolded is exactly the problem. I have never seen any placard against state governors, Senators, Reps even though they are the closest to us... We focus too much on presidency Nigerians need to shift their attention from presidency and elect credible representatives from state house to Senate and Reps.. Those are the people that can make the changes we have been yarning for |

Subsidybad21:No Nigerian has ever witnessed a quality inter-state road in their lifetime. There has never been a time a Nigerian has travelled from Warri to Lagos or from Abuja to Kano and experienced the Namibian quality type of roads. 1 Like |

RuudVanNisteroy: Just listen to yourself... Nigerians should "BEG". Now I understand why this country is long overdue for division. When masses have to beg for their OWN right? Enough is Enough! End of!!! |
Re: Nigerians Should Beg Fashola And Buhari To Provide Namibian Quality Roads by Nobody: 8:41pm On Mar 30, 2021 |
RuudVanNisteroy: It is easy to build road, but to maintain it is another matter. We don't toll roads, we don't charge enough taxes to maintain them Also, like I said, we have corruption because the money flows in easily from sale of oil. Eventually the oil is going to run out. Whereas if we became industrial, we won't be in this mess...because corruption would hamper industrial development, and profitability. Finally, Nigerians are too partial. We don't want to put presssure on our favorite leaders to do good. We so expect them to go into power and chop money. Honesty is laughed at. 1 Like |

Subsidybad21:You say it is easy, let us wait for the N797 billion road from Abuja to Kano that costs a record breaking N2.1 billion per kilometre to be completed. As usual it will not have premium lane markings,no roads signs and substandard materials will be used. |

RuudVanNisteroy: Nigeria hasn't had leaders in decades except touts, social misfits and cultists e.g Tinubu,Lai Mohammed and Jonathan. These ppl respond to senseless violence NOT dialogue.. That is why they pay "amnesty" dividends to Niger Delta militants,Boko Haram,Iswap And Fulani bandits (hey...Gumi is even a spokesman for terrorists meanwhile in another moslem country he would have been beheaded long before now and forgotten). mccloud224:Sad, but true. However, that is not always the case as be witnessed in the 1993 elections where IBB bowed to pressure. |
Re: Nigerians Should Beg Fashola And Buhari To Provide Namibian Quality Roads by mccloud224(m): 11:40pm On Mar 30, 2021 |
RuudVanNisteroy: Ibb didn't bow to pressure... He was a wolf surrounded by hyenas who were out to devour the country... He didn't want to take the blame for taking Nigeria down hill...he had some decency. When Tinubu becomes president, the word "decency" will become obsolete within this extremely insane clime. |

When it comes to quality road construction, give it to Ngige. Most of the roads done under his administration are still good uptill this day. Quality stuff. Fashola is just a common thief.. very corrupt soul. |

Monogamy:Life is better for a black man/black woman in USA because you can reach your full potential in any industry and it no surprise it has the most black millionaires in the world. When you look at fortune 500 companies in USA blacks occupy about 13% of management positions, which is close to the population of blacks in the country. However, it is a different case in Australia,Canada and Switzerland where you will find white men occupying close to 95% of management positions.Nigerian Americans have a better chance of reaching their full potential than a Nigerian resident in Germany,Canada,United Kingdom,Netherlands,Switzerland or Austria. |
