Abeg guys, I need to change USD to CAD, how will I do it

Then the proof of funds I’ll declare at the airport, is it the same one I used to apply or the current balance (mind you I was approved last year o) so the bank statement na like July 2020!

More so! I want to buy a new laptop, buying here or there which one is better?

Bro, when you get to the airport ask for "Currency Exchange" which is the stand that changes currencies at the airport but only change the very little you need because it is more expensive at the airport. You can hold the bulk of US dollars with you and change at the bank when you want to open your account. It is much cheaper at the banks.

From my little experience being here, things are a little pricey here esp with the conversion of Naira to dollars so if you still have the opportunity, buy your laptop in Lagos.

The proof of funds should be your current balance, you can just get one month statement from the bank and that's if you are asked by the officer. You might be lucky and they don't even ask you for that at the POE still have it handy.

I hope this helps and all the best bro.

My counterfoil just dropped, but I am seeing that it is valid for one year. Does it mean I was given one year visa? If that’s the case can I renew the visa in Canada if I am not done with my school after one year?

It means you have a maximum of 1year to leave Nigeria. If you haven't gone after one year elapses, you will have to apply for another visa

Your chances are slim because there is no sign of progression in your academics nor career, you should have gone for something related to microbiology, except you have a valid reason to explain to the vo why you are going for that program in Canada

Have paid a year tuition fee.. no sponsor, but available balance is 3.7m. are my good to go?

quote author=JustMellow post=100413773]

Hello Ogunleyesijibomi,

The first to consider is the 1-year tuition plus CAD 10,000 then weigh it against the available balance. If it doesn't outweigh it; then you're good to go as a self-sponsor, but if not, get a (co)sponsor. This will help your financial strength.

BTW, a gainful earner as an applicant should include a personal BS; not compulsory if there is a sponsor, but very necessary even if there is a sponsor.

Best of Luck

How have your inflows been and has there been any lump sum and can you raise the available funds to 6m or 7m? If good, no, and yes are the responses, you are good to go.

Best of Luck

Gurus in the house I have posted this before and I haven't seen someone to review for me... please help me out I use God beg una.
You have a lot of things wrong with your application, and my suggestion will be to use professional agents next time, you agent advised you wrong by asking you not to list your previous education, with an ND just go for an advanced diploma in the program relating to your ND program, and as regards your bank statement, you are highly favored for not getting a 5 year bam because that statement looks fraudulent, No bank will print a bank statement on a plain sheet without a letter head or stamp, I want to believe you also paid the agent to get you a bank statement which happens to be a fake bank statement, I really want to strongly advise us to desist from making payments to agents to get Account statement for you, it's a risky and a wrong move, you can contact me on bollybeejay@gmail.com I'm also an educational consultant who is also waiting to japa lol, I will post my timeline as soon as I also get a ppr

I am so sorry about this. I remember how you were anxiously waiting for a decision and I kept encouraging you. in fact, I am really speechless but please don't give up.

Having read your GCMS notes, I cannot seem to see any negative feedback leading to the refusal. In fact, the Visa officer that did the initial review of your file has assessed you positively on all criteria even your study plan was okay by him/her. Are there any additional comments of the VO on the GCMS notes that are not visible here or this is all?

The reasons you kept above are just generic responses they always quote on correspondence refusal letters so we need the comments on the notes that lead to the refusal.

Overall, please don't give up, this is a positive sign you are very very close.

I think @Mz Misty should consider JR

Hello team,

I need advise please...
I have a study visa which i applied alone and planning to travel in june. In my application i stated i will not be travelling with my children, but i now have to travel with my son who is a canadian citizen.
2 questions:
Since immediate familes of intl students are not yet allowed to enter Canada for visits due to restriction, Can I request a letter of authorization for him?

-Does my proof of funds @ POE now needs to be increased to include his upkeep since I didn't include it during my study permit application?.

quote author=JustMellow post=100419907]

Hello Teefinix,

Spouses and children of international students are exempted and can travel with PA. You can inform IRCC to issue an authorization to travel. To avoid delay, ensure to provide all the required information once.

You won't be needing to show POF at POE, but if you have it, all to the best. You don't need to increase the funds for the mentioned vein, but it should be readily available to access at any time.

You can boldly and verbally demonstrate how you intend to meet the financial expenses of your child IF asked at the POE. Better still, have a scanned copy of the BS/MBS used in your application on an accessible device.

Best of Luck

It's preferable to get the Laptop there especially for warranty purpose. If anything should happen to the laptop, repair is quite on the high side especially with a receipt that is not from them or theirs.

Hello Guys,

I'm back after a long time off. Applying for a study permit just got realer.

So, this is the scenario: My dad won't be able to sponsor me. We don't just have that amount of money. He's a businessman and has been able to raise my tuition deposit which is my full first semester fee but that's all. If I should get his BS before paying the fees, how will I get the remaining part of the 30,00 Cad. And if I'm to use his account as sponsor, is it not required that he should have way over the 30.00 cad to show that he can support my education, continue his business and not go broke? If that is the case, even borrowing to complete it won't just cut it.

I have also taught about getting the money to his account (probably borrow to complete it) and then transferring it to mine since I'm over 18. That way I'll get the receipt of the transfer, get an affidavit of deed of gift for the transaction that he gifted it to me to finance my education and then attach his land documents for assets to boost my financial stand. Since this way, I'll just need the exact 30,000 cad as I don't have a business to fund back home or other responsibilities. I seriously don't know if this will work.

Also, I saw on Canada Immigration website that PoF can be education loans. I'm wondering if there are any known lenders that offer education loan in Nigeria as I'm believing that that might also serve as home ties since you'll need to pay off the loan back home.

Second to last, I heard that you can source for organisations to sponsor your education which can be used as PoF. Please can anyone name such organisations. I'm in desperate need of them as time is running out. My admission is for Fall 2021 and I'm yet to apply for study permit.

Finally, I have an admission for Bsc. I applied with my Waec which is currently 5 years old. Do I need to explain to the VO the gap in education and what I have been doing in those 5 years which is currently schooling the same course I was offered admission but just in 300L out of 5. If yes, will I need to attach the transcript of the two years completed? If No, hope the gap won't affect my application eventually. (The Truth is that I don't just have money, time and stress to start demanding for just 2 years transcript from my school. Una know how 9ja wahala be especially Federal school)

Pls Is my bank statement (MBS) and proof of funds (Pof) same?

If you included a my bank statement certificate and a copy of your IELTS with your application, IRCC will not request for any of these documents from you again under the NSE program. On the contrary that you didn't attach them with your application, then you will be contacted by IRCC to provide them to continue processing your application.

I hope this satisfies your inquiry.

It will end in praise [/quote]

I learned that it's better to buy the laptop over there. Try dey read the LIVING IN CANADA thread, most questions outside visa are answered there.

Then, I don't think you should be bothered about changing USD to CAD now, just change it there.

Hello Teeprecious,

The funds should have come as a regular inflow for up to 6 months (with one year of transactional history – MBS), and with the majority of the funds, (let's say 75%) of the sitting balance should already be there. Any other funds that come in will then be flagged as a lump sum and should be well-explained. If you are not going for NSE, 6 months is okay but, 1-year is better as IRCC may request for it (MBS) again.

Hope it's clear?

Best of Luck

Thank you. It is a bit clearer now.
I was skeptical cos I had majority of the funds in a mutual investment account which I liquidated only 5 months ago, some transferred as lump( already explained in my sop )while the rest were transferred monthly from my salary account. I was kinda scared that the money didn't sit for 6 months but the narration when liquidated shows it was housed in the mutual investment.
I hope to use it that way as I have requested for mybankstatement from the bank
