Having softer underbellies doesn't necessarily mean Zilla's going to be unarmoured. Although the spikes or back would be more protected.

Regeneration of limbs won't save you in a fight. Regeneration takes time and energy. Regeneration does not mean that one heals fast.
It takes 60 days for a lizard to grow back its tail.

Isn't that what I was complaining about? How can godzillas skin be harder than mechagodzilla? A cyborg version of any living thing would be heavier than that living thing for the following reason-

1. Every animal needs pores, vents or gills to expel waste or intake nutrients. Naturally, those would be soft tissues. A cyborg version does not necessarily need to breathe. It would be metal and hard all round.

2. Skin and bone. Following point 1, no animal is 100% bone on the outside. But mechagodzilla had a metal exoskeleton.

3. Skin and bone. Skin cannot be harder than bone. Godzilla skin cannot be harder than his spikes. His spikes should be deadly to him.
