Hello house,

I am sorry for the quite unrelated post/question, I was unable to get a quick answer on the IELTS room.

I wish to take the IELTS exam in Lagos, I heard some centers do not give headsets for Listening but instead play the Listening test with a loudspeaker.

I will be happy if anyone who wrote with IDP/MOD (Not British Council) tells me what center they wrote and were given a headset. I am considering writing at the UNILAG center, So if anyone wrote there please advise otherwise let me know alternatives.

Thank you

My bad...I missed out the part where you specifically mentioned that you required info on just IDP/MOD
Kindly ignore my earlier response and all the best with your exams

Request for the expedited processing of your application and seek for every attention to be given to your file. Thank the immigration officer for the time taken to process your application and confirm your availability to provide additional documentation that might be deemed useful in the process.

Pls guys, I need help making payment to Conestoga college. I have a deadline to meet and I already have the payment instructions from Western Union global business payment but the banks are telling me stories about not making payment to 3rd parties other than the school's direct account.

This completely boils down to the policies of your bank. Other commercial banks in Nigeria gives credence to making payment to West Union Global Pay because they are well recognised and accredited by most reputed institutions abroad to serve as an intermediary agent b/w the school and international students. You may want to check other banks like Zenith Bank or UBA.

Good morning guys @awys @frank, @just mellow @anon123, @lekibonoe and others please it is urgent so that it can be fast my study permit was granted last month and i have my visa with me differed my admission for a PhD to fall 2021 after i start classes for winter initially. Now i want to apply for a SOWP for my spouse and VV for my two kids since they are under 5years to come along with me. Can i apply for her now? or i must get to canada before i do that? my spouse will use her job as home ties as we already applied for one year leave of absence is this feassible?
as per the Proof of Funds shud it be in her account or in mine? presently i have 6m naira in mine and 1m in hers and i also have a graduate research assistant offer of 18k cad per year (10k from supervisor and 8k from dept) please advise accordingly. am asking becos i heard that i will need to attach my study permit to the SOWP application and the study permit would be issued at the point of entry. how far is this true please i need help

From the wisdom of my vast experiences with several SOWP applications. I would prefer you land in Canada and file for your wife and kids to accompanying you. This will ensure that you've provided the necessary documents as per the IRCC checklist for every SOWP. You will be required to submit a copy of your study permit, SIN and proof of accommodation for this type of application. The regular study visa you've with you, is not sufficient for this purpose. If you had your way, it's better the proof of funds be shown in your wife's bank statement since she is the accompanying dependant in this application. You can also include the funding you've from Canada and the 6M to strengthen the application.

I hope this information satisfies your inquiry.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to find out if anyone has successfully dealt with a 5 year ban. How they addressed it and the process they took?

The 5 year ban was as a result of misrepresentation.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi what type of misrepresentation is that?
What offence was it?
And did you get to know after they send the letter to you or you knew before?
And if you know before what did you do about it?

Hello Guys,

If your pre-assessment report came looking good from your gcsm note but your application got denied, please what does it imply/mean?

Reasons:

* Purpose of visit

* personal assets and financial status

* Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more: your qualifications,
previous studies, level of establishment, language abilities, or your future prospects and plans.

Most of the time, it's the Program Case Analyst who does the R-10 check that often evaluates the pre-assessment report. This initial assessment does not in anyway guarantee the success of your application. Please be guided that it's the sole responsibility of the Senior Immigration Officer at the High Commission of Canada to give the final review and pass your eligibility assessment for study permit. In your case, after the review of your supporting documents by the responsible Senior immigration officer, he is not satisfied that you're a bonafide student who will pursue a post graudate certificate program in International Business Management from Canada and depart after studies.

In the pre-assesmeht notes all the points you raised were all marked to make sense read the VO's pre-assesmeht notes the last page of the GCMS notes my thinking is maybe a junior VO pre- assessed the Application to be good based on the notes the VO gave then a more senior VO reassessed it again and deli it's not okay by him or her cuz the pre-assesmeht is positive and cleared all the gray areas they finally denied her for so I don't understand IRCC ooo

This is absolutely correct. Every application received at the Canadian embassy passes through the pre-assessment stage and later transferred to the Senior Immigration Officer for a decison to be made on the file. Its not possible for an immigration officer to start a file and complete it instantly. There are laid down regulations and procedures which governs the operations of the visa officers.

Please is it possible to run a work visa to Canada? As the agent said two years 400k, 4 years 600k. That is the agent Josephstella whom I suspect is a scammer already.. relevant questions I asked just turned him off lol. Imagine Him telling me a company will do a visa for 400k for me for two years and people are not rushing through that route lol

Then also wish I could study in Canada?? I have statements of account of 6 million and i need guidance. Yes please an agent will suffice.

Cheapest school (I studied international relations)
Duration of the visa (how long before the embassy will call me)

I just need someone to refer me to a sound agent. His service fee is sure. Please don’t bother to tell me to go through the pages of this thread as it is for those who want to spend months to do it themselves. I don’t have the luxury of time

Hello Godson213,

Set your mind off it. If it's too good then it is not true. You may want to up your funds as 6m is not sufficient enough.

Best of Luck

Breaking News : Canada Study Permit

Now, students will not be able to change the DLI/Institute after study visa approval.

Student has to lodge a fresh application for new DLI.

You're certainly free to change your DLI from within Canada provided you've documents like Acceptance Letter, tuition receipts, confirmation of enrollment letter from the DLI you're transferring to. If you're outside of Canada and wants to switch to another DLI, you must provide a new letter of acceptance and may apply for a fresh study permit. To cut a long story short, its better to effect the change of DLI from within Canada.

Hello House, I have a question,

How does MBS work? Do Visa Officers have access to "actual" bank balance anytime they log in? Or they only see what you submitted....thank you

The visa officers have no access to the actual available balance after the mybank statement certificate was issued. The purpose of the my bank statement is to verify the authenticity of the transactions carried out in the account and the sitting balance as at when you submitted it.

Hello lekan,

If the SP has been issued, the person can change DLI (or program) without reapplying or submitting a new SP application. This is why it is often advised to effect the change from within Canada rather than outside. All to be done is update the GcKey account with the rightful information.

Effecting the change—of DLI and not the program—from outside Canada when an application has been approved and before the SP is issued is what IRCC refers to by stating the need to submit a new SP application for consideration.

Even if the DLI change was effected from outside Canada, the person doesn't necessarily have to apply for a new study permit IF the person's GcKey was updated with the new information (and IRCC was notified via the webform – unconventional)

Ultimately, based on the explanation thus far; a change of DLI or Program, it can be done without the need to reapply for a new SP.

I am open to further queries if it's not clear.

One love bro!

Good am NL,

I would appreciate if anyone can tell me cost of the study application fee, cos my agent told me it’s $185.

I’m just trying to avoid extortion from the agent.

Thanks.

Your agent may be correct in a way depending on whether you've had an existing profile with IRCC. Application fee is 150CAD and Biometrics is 85CAD. In total, you're to pay 235CAD for a first time application. Whilst, for subsequent applications you're to pay $150CAD.

ILoveDLord:
The fact is, the study permit issued at the port of entry usually has your DLI written on it. So if you need to change DLI after you have received your study permit, then you need to apply for any study permit for the new DLI. This may not necessarily affect your study visa.

Note there is a difference between a study visa and a study permit.

Hello ILoveDLord,

In contribution to this topic further; the person doesn't have to apply for a new SP because the person's new DLI information will be automatically updated by IRCC If the person updates it in the GcKey account.

In the case that the DLI lost its approval status as recognized by IRCC, the person doesn't also need to apply for a new study permit or stop studying. However, in the case of SP extension, the person has to include a new LOA from an approved DLI.

As long as the person updates its GcKey account with the new and rightful information, as a notification to IRCC regarding the change, no harm whatsoever not even towards the PGWP.

One love bro!

Hi. I’m applying for a study permit and the money in my sponsors account (mother) started flowing in 3 weeks ago. Does it raise a red flag? How can I explain the inflow?

Also, does my 6 months statement of account necessarily need to show my salary since I’m applying as an employee in an organization in Nigeria?

Hello Sisisimbi,

Irregular inflows of monies into the account 3 weeks to applying isn't advisable. You have to be able to justify the irregular cash flows.

It doesn't matter whether your salary appears in your BS or not, as long as it belongs to you and verifiable, you are good.

But if you are a high-income earner, irrespective of the closing balance, include it to support the other financial records that are sufficient.

Best of Luck

Hello Skull4eva,

If you are applying for your spouse's SOWP from within Canada under the right NOC, POF isn't necessarily a major requirement but, there is still the need to demonstrate that your spouse can take responsibility for any incurred expenses, or can as well be demonstrated by you.

Since the funds is already in your account, you can leave it be. You can include your BS, spouse's BS, payslips, and other employment/financial documentation, etc.
