Trulky jet seats are ejectable.

Secondly, only when the pilot loses control and the jet is nose diving can the pilot chose to eject, it could have exploded right in the air without much signal or warning to the pilot, I'm sure u know the kind of planes we buy in Nigeria na.

No insult intended... Okay Jet engine get. fault, the same time mechanical system also get hooked.... Both are not in anyway linked in the Jet.... The ejection is pure mechanical and not electrical.... The two faults at the same time is quite impossible bro.... The ejection is a safety caution with parachute. It's almost impossible for the two to happen at the same time. It's either the pilot was dead before the jet crashed.

my point was hypothetical, the cause of crash hasn't been released yet and I doubt if it will. The last military aircraft that crashed few weeks ago wasn't explained also which is wrong

u should ask urself "HOW OLD IS THAT JET AND HOW MANY TIMES ARE THEY MAINTAINING "bcuz as these planes gets old some features begins to malfunction

Sorry for my first approach. I apologize. The Military has never been sincere in the fight against Boko Haram. They have tried to cover up so many attacks even when military outposts were overran by the insurgents, they still managed the truth. They tampered with several numbers of gallant soldiers killed by Boko Haram. This won't be different. They said they have recovered the Jet wreckages, let them show the world.... Okay Boko Haram lied but they showed us a photoshopped videos... We are waiting for the Army

The way people comment here is funny. When the news broke out about the crash and book harsh claiming they shot it down, people here were saying the plane was flying so low that it was shot by RPG, but I hope you all can now see the truth about the plane's altitude[15,000 feet].

They also mentioned something about a local weapon used to bring the plane down, but the report says something about missile.

People should always be mindful of what they say.

It is not advisable to show the wreckage and the dead pilots because of the families affected and for some reasons. It's so unprofessional to release the details immediately. They have to be some investigations and analysis.

I think most modern combat Jets no longer need for the pilots to use personal parachutes as the ejection seat come with chutes installed on them. The seats are the escape device. Once activated, a rocket device ignites, an explosive charge blows off the canopy, the seat is shot out of the aircraft and activates the parachute.

Yes, originally not all do. But quite a number have different mods over the years, so its not farfetched that older fighters still in service have been retro-fitted. It also varies from country to country. At this point, we won't know if the crashed jet had one or not. And I doubt the nigerian military would be forthcoming with the answer to that question.

Not in the real sense ..what 4th gen and 5th gen fighters pack is CSMU ( crash survival memo unit ) which is encrypted data housed in the ejector seat so the pilot can bail with it..the reason military jets dot have regular black box is to avoid it falling into enemy hands in event of the crash ,that said I doubt if cold war era jet like the alpha has any

what you describe isn't a recent technology but I get your point. A direct hit to the cockpit can defeat the essence of any parachute.. let's just wait and hear what the government has to say though I doubt they'll say anything

It’s simple if the jet was actually shot down there would be a wide spread of the debris in that area and not just at the crash site. Portions of the jet wud have dismantled and fallen Sm where else from the crash site.

Showing wreckages doesn't necessarily mean they should show the bodies Ogbeni... The Abuja crash that involved top military officers were shown without their bodies....

It's not about Hollywood, it's a normal thing for fighter jet to have evacuation botton.

Such system are usually 99 percent efficient and they are usually redundant.
It's very unlikely for an ejection system to fail even the the plane engine fail

Brother, don't mind that guy. FDR / CSMU / IMRS and other incident recorder must be in fighter aircraft. The information may be encrypted to avoid decryption if it falls into enemy territories. The timing given has not been accurate. The initial information was that the aircraft was off radar around 1800hrs Nigeria time (GMT + 1). The ETD quoted in some quarters was around 1700 or 1708hrs. I believed the plane crashed about 5 minutes or 10 minutes after takeoff. Within that short time, it was not possible for Boko Haram to have the images of an exploded jet mid air and a descending burnt jet coming down. Also, if Boko Haram was responsible, they would have announced to the world immediately after the incident to celebrate a victory. The will never wait for NAF to announce a jet missing off radar and also waited for hours for NAF to announce that the jet could not be found and that anything could have happened. It was after the last information that Boko Haram came up with images followed by video.

The February crash happened few minutes after takeoff when the Pilots observed a fatal technical failure and made efforts to return . There must have been a fatal technical failure also in this case. The report of the crashed plane found at Bama with the corpse of the other pilot found intact while Flight Lieutenant Abolarinwa body is not found demands for a suspicion. This is because in one of the propaganda images released by Boko Haram, the body of Flight Lieutenant Abolarinwa was shown.

There are different possibilities around this incident. I will narrate them later.
